Hi everyone, who's going to be at Hammerfest this February? I'm seriously looking at flying in from Ottawa, Canada again. I haven't been to Chicago since the LH CD release party in June 2009. What a great weekend we had and I met many of you there. This time, it looks like DH will be coming with me as my BFF doesn't appear to be on board.  It will definitely be a different dynamic with DH along, i.e. I will probably see Chicago this time and will spend less time chasing the band around  Just trying to get a decent price for a flight. Right now it's over $500 each!! Lisa |

I'm trying to make plans from Ottawa too. I've been going on expedia almost daily to find a good hotel/flight deal and you're right - it's pretty expensive!! I've bought tickets to the show anyway so that at the last minute if I see any good deals I'll book. Hope you have some luck too. I've been to 3 hammerfests and they are amazing!!

I hope that you and everyone who is trying to get tickets is able to make it to Chicago!!! it is such a fun time. i have read that the best day to look for airline ticket sales is Wednesdays. It is when different airlines put sales up and others try to beat the price. I have tried that and it really works. The other tip is to look at smaller airports to fly into and out of .
If you do find an airline ticket, then i suggest you use Hotwire to find a hotel in Chicago. There are no hotels near the venue, so you have lots of options. Nancy or I can help you with areas. We often find hotels from $40-60 per night that are quite nice. Sign up for Hotwire and they send you emails when they have deals. The only downside is that they are non-refundable.
And lastly, as dendenal mentioned, if you want VIP tickets and really think you will be going, buy them now. Last year, they sold out fast.
I really hope to see you and Joanne again. it has been too long!!!

Hey guys, thanks for the posts. I responded but it doesn't seem to be up here... Weird! Dendenal, where are you in Ottawa? I'm in the Glebe. I just saw that Porter has a 20% off deal until december 8th. It's $430.00 with taxes in. We fly Ottawa-Toronto Island, then to Chicago Midway. This is the flight Joan and I took last year and it was awesome. Porter lounges are amazing and the service is WAY better than Air Canada. I think I might just book this deal.
Last time, Joan and I stayed at the Embassy Suites Downtown Chicago Lakefront hotel. We booked through Hotwire and I think it was $80. It had an awesome hot all-inclusive style breakfast and the rooms were fine. We'll probably stay there again as it's right in the thick of things and we can walk to all the sights which is what DH and I will likely be doing.
Liz, Joan isn't coming. She can't afford it so it will give DH and I a chance to have a nice Valentines weekend away with no kids. It will be different with him (not the groupy weekend it was last year), but we'll enjoy the concert for sure. We'll meet up with you guys for dinner beforehand for sure!!

I'm in Barrhaven. I was there in May and we booked through expedia. It was $500 all inclusive for Hotel (hotel 71) and the flight. That was for 2 nights. I've been looking and I'm finding some in the $550 range. I'm not a fan of flying so I try to book a direct flight - it's about 1.5 hrs. I too will probably be with my hubby. It will be a totally different trip with him as opposed to a "Girls Weekend". Maybe we'll get a chance to meet up!

Yes that would be GREAT! We should all meet for dinner before the show for sure! Let's stay in touch in here. Are you on Facebook? I talk to Liz and others I met on Facebook all the time. If you are, send me a friend request. I booked our flights yesterday using Air Miles. Forgot we had them so major BONUS! We go at 6:45a.m. Friday, Feb.11th direct to Ohare. Return 2:00pm Sunday. The hotel we wanted to stay at seems to be full. I'm calling tomorrow. Was the Hotel 71 good? I'm trying to decide what LH tickets to buy? I'm thinking balcony may be the way to go with DH. General admission sucks for me as I'm so short, so unless I'm in the front row (like the first time), it's no good!!

Hotel 71 wasn't bad. Nothing fancy but we had great service and the room was huge. We were facing the water and Trump Tower was right across the street.

I've been chatting with a few Hammerhead friends and looks like we'll be meeting up for dinner at the Full Shilling, at 3724 N. Clark. (The Metro is 3730 N. Clark.) We booked a room at the Four Points downtown so will sightsee all weekend and cab it up to the show and dinner Saturday evening. I'm really looking forward to it!!! |
