His encore performance of Trees is IT for me. I have a long-winded explanation too, so be prepared.
I feel like JD went out there before him and turned the cockiness up ten levels. Of course he had to prove that HIS song was just as great acoustically as Trees had been. When Marty came out, offering a choice of acoustic or electric, it was obvious he was ready to effing ROCK out. It's like he put a little more of his real self behind the song? His more hardcore self, if you will. And the best part, is that he seriously looked like he was having an amazing time, more so than any other performance. So yeah, that would be my vote.
Runner Up: Mr. Brightstide (which is currently playing on repeat in my car)

I would have to pick the ones that I saw live - original Trees, acoustic Trees, Everlong, & Creep...especially Creep - Wow did he ever have the eyef*ck working that night (afternoon.)

For those of you who have been swooning over Marty I thought you should know he is NOT “single”. He intentionally mis-lead all the fans about his love life to get the female audience voting for him. I have learned a few interesting FACTS from a friend who knows the LH. Marty has been in a serious relationship with his college sweetheart M. for about 10 years. Yes they have had a few rough patches but they were and are back together long before the show. It was decided for the show he would play the “single” angle to win over the popular female voters knowing that would be the majority of the audience demographics. It was all for the sake of publicity. Oldest trick in the book. His girlfriend M. is an actress in NYC and she and Marty talked on the phone every week while he was in LA. She also attended numerous of the tapings out in LA and they were seen mouthing I LOVE YOU while the cameras were not on him. She was in on it all along to help him win. Marty’s first night out of the mansion was spent with her at the House of Blues Hotel. They are VERY much in-love and always have been. I hate to burst anyone’s delusions of granger but now that the show is over and “voting” does not matter for his success you can all look forward to an engagement announcement REALLY soon. It will probably be publicized as “MARTY and M. Up in the Trees again”. Just in time to promote the release of his single and everyone will think it is such a romantic story of reuniting true love and the guy wins back the love of his life just in time for the INXS tour promotions when really it will again be about PR for Marty. He's already part of the "machine" of selling lies for his greed. Not such a nice, sincere, and honest guy after all. ummmmm.......ok......I think that is way too harsh......you can have a female fan base and still be involved...lol.....some take the whole I'm for Marty thing way too far..... He's a true star in every sense of the word....and if he has a long time partner....who cares!!

And to answer the question......
They were ALL first class performances......
The performance that I think had the most profound effect on Inxs and many others was when he sang Don't Change......
I felt like I was watching a true superstar and that performance above all others said to me that he was right to lead Inxs.......
That said......I was totally blown away by Creep.....
And the Britney song...my god.....he made her look like a 12 yr old grade school performer compared to his rendition of it.....
And when Roger Waters comments that he really liked your version of Wish You Were Hear??? I can't think of a better compliment from a legendary artist to an up and coming artist like Marty.

Loved his original and fun "Trees".... hello!! Loved the intensity of "Creep"... his eyes pierced through my soul. Loved the loving softness of "Wish you were here" ... OMG Loved the drama of "I Alone" ... just wild. Loved the conductor arms in "With Arms Wide Open"... what a signature move! Loved his artistry in turning "Hit Me Baby One More Time" into a rock tune...
heck I like them all !!!! He can sing Mary Had A Little Lamb, and make it great... just love anything he sings... :-)

Whoa!! I didnt see that coming!! It doesnt change the way I feel about him for one second, though. If hes happy and in love, more power to him. Anyway...Lithium was my first favorite but Wish You Were Here will always hold a special place in my heart.

For me, Marty didn't stand out in the beginning. Then came Week 3 when he did Nirvana's Lithium. WOW. He grabbed me by the jugular and never let go. PPoD had mentioned that Nirvina songs were sacred and Marty really took this one and ran. Nobody else, IMHO, did justice to anything Nirvana. And Marty quickly earned my respect.
(I know Jordis did MWSTW, but that's a Bowie original)

I don't know where anyone found that "delusions of granger" (ha! "granger"!) post, but let me just say this to the person who wrote it: BIG. #*$@ing. DEAL. Hilarious that that person thinks that Marty's love-life status would influence the votes of anyone with half a functioning brain.
I would have voted for Marty no matter what. Single ... not single ... married with six screaming flailing kids and a mortgage out his hoohah? Absolutely.
Am I envious of Maria? Good god yeah. Does Marty's involvement with her -- or representation of himself as "single" for the duration of a so-called "reality" show -- bother me? No way. Do I wish him all the best of luck no matter what he does or with whom he does it? You bet.
I'm just happy he's happy.

Agreed, Jodi. It's not like he's going to lose his fan base because he might be in a relationship.
Besides, there ARE dudes out there that dig Marty, too.

It doesn't matter if he is gay, straight, married, divorced, or a virgin. I LOVE MARTY CASEY and he is still my future ex-husband!

Ok I think all this speculation about Marty and whoever needs to stop. The person that came over here this morning deliberately posted a provocative comment about Marty and then once a couple of people had quoted/commented on the post, then surprise, surprise they deleted the post.
I think this is all bull and was just done to stir up trouble and turn off some of the Marty love.
You can choose to believe what the errant poster said, or you can wait to learn the facts or just forget about it because frankly its none of our business. Either way I would prefer that we just drop this topic.

I think I'd like to give a little shout for Take Me Out. Simply because it seemed to be the first performance that sucked everyone in. (including myself)

The qustion of what is your fave marty performance is almost like asking what is your fave beatles song. You can't narrow it down to one. It's impossible

Wow, how do I choose? 1. Wish You Were Here - because he completely mesmerized me 2. Creep - It's so haunting, I couldn't look away And in no partiular order: Mr Brightside - because he shocked us all going acoustic, I Alone, because I love the song anyway, Baby One more Time - it just grows and grows on me, Trees, in every version, because it's so much fun, and Don't Change - the first time, because he showed he can do INXS. And of course everything else he sung on the show.

When I first heard INXS was participating in Rock Star I was disappointed my band sold out. I thought here goes another American Idol, so I decided to sit out. I figured the show was done and over with when I was channel surfing and came across Marty singing "I, Alone", it blew me away. I immediately had to see what I was watching. He got me hook, line, and sinker. He is sooooo talented. Lucky for me I found someone who taped all the priors so I could see them. To answer your question...My favorites: 1. I, Alone 2. Wish You Were Here 3. Don't Change 4. Creep 5. Arms Wide Open Trees I should say is my favorite of the originals and I can't get it out of my head. I would have love to have heard Marty sing "The One Thing" though. Marty got a new fan in me. I sooo hooked and can't enough.
