It is listed on the Rock Star:INXS site that Mark Burnett is considering actually doing another Rock Star with a different band next summer. Even the way the show was titled “Rock Star: INXS” with the colon after Rock Star leaves you with the impression they just might insert another name next year due to the show’s success this year. In a way, I hope they don’t because I fear the novelty of the show will wear off just like American Idol is starting to do in the ratings.
If they did….what band would do it?? Rock Star: (Insert Band Name Here) And if they did….would any of the contestants from this year retry?
Here is the address they have listed for people to send in tapes for a possible audition:
Mail your submission to: Rockstar Entertainment, Inc Attn: Season 2 Casting 640 North Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90049
Maybe the next “Rock Star” is someone posting right here in the Marty Casey Forums! ;D
(I’m a child of the 80’s maybe it will be Rock Star: The Cars----just kidding)

I've wondered what bands they could possibly choose but I'm stumped. Either way, my friend is going to go for it. Regardless of winning, the process would be fun as hell.
I heard the ratings for Rockstar were pretty low? Which seems impossible with all the fans.

The ratings were low at first, but picked up as word got out that the music was so good. I don't think the show got enough marketing and hype before it started, so to build based on the quality of songs, contestants, and house band is a tribute to them!

I heard through the grapevine that the chatter about RS2 at the wrap party was going to be without a band. Sort of like AI, but obviously classier, less cheese, and better (much better) music. I highly doubt MBP has had time to ink a deal with a "major" band for RS2, although I've heard several have expressed interest.
Here's a tidbit to put "major" in perspective: INXS has sold roughly 34 million records Bon Jovi has sold over 100 million records

I heard through the grapevine that the chatter about RS2 was going to be without a band. Sort of like AI, but obviously classier, less cheese, and better ( much better) music. If they go this route, do you think they will keep the same format for eliminations? I really liked how the bottom 3 had to sing for survival and without a band like INXS to pick which ones stay and leave---will they have a panel of "Rock Stars" do the honors? I bet Dave Navarro is one of them!
I never really cared for the voting format on AI because sometimes the better singer received the least votes from the public. I had a friend at work that wanted Constantine to win last year, but she would only vote one time for him because she said he would get plenty of votes. So she spent her time voting for others she felt needed it and when he was booted off she was totally surprised. How many other people didn't vote for a popular person because they figured they didn't need it? And it's a shame that one bad performance can kill a singer when they might just be one of the best. I think all the performances throughout the competition need to be taken in consideration---that is one of the reasons why I loved the "Rock Star" way of elimination!

I think they are leaning toward Van Halen.
But Robin I did love the Cars. I have all their albums. In LP's. Now that sounds old.

I love the Cars too! I still have all the LPs (can't bear to get rid off my vinyl collection even after all these years). I saw the Cars in concert way back when, they were the opening act for DEVO. That was quite a concert.

I hope not, the future of rock and roll shouldnt be a cheesy show like NZ Idol. Rock INXS was entertaining but the reason behind it was shit. Rock bands are worth much more than this. What happened to the good old rock bands that were formed in someones garage through mates......... I dont think you can ever feel part of a group if you werent there when it formed.

On the Craig Ferguson Show last week, he did kind of parody ... "We Want to be a Village Person" ... and it had a poster of the Village People in background ... too funny!

Any one for Rock Star: Alice in Chains?? They are all talented musicians and it would be awesome for Jerry Cantrell. I loved Layne's voice and realize that it was unique. But they rocked and it would be so great to see them together again, and with another singer. Not sure if that would draw in as good as ratings as Van Halen would. But, AIC gets my vote!
