I think some of the bad reviews are based on the fact that Mark Burnett is only releasing a limited DVD and not a full DVD of the series... unless there are some new reviews I haven't read yet.

That's exactly it. People don't have to see it to know that it sucks. If you look at what's on the dvd, you'll see that it's just a truncated version of the show with very few performances. I would've hoped that it would be at the very least, the shows that we saw on tv. I don't care about any so-called behind the scenes stuff. I'd just like all the shows that were aired put on dvd. Do you think that they'll ever release it? They are shooting themselves in the foot if they don't. IMO, this is just as bad as the Night at the Mayan cd. All the versions of the songs didn't have nearly the excitement and spontaniaty of the originals featured in the debut show. I know that they had to re-record them because the tv versions were limited to two minutes, but still..

Well I have put my order in with Amazon for the DVD, it's disappointing that it's not the entire season, especially for those of us who only started watching from about "Mr Brightside" (there seem to be a lot of us) but it will be better than nothing, maybe later on they'll see the error of their ways and release the whole show, hope so anyway!

Since I'm not getting any chance of seeing Marty in a show, I put in an order for this DVD myself. Used Amazon too. Better than nothing I suppose Would anyone know if there's a chance for Amazon to get L'Strange and LH's DVD Live/Raw on its list? Got my beloved MOMM CD from there but these two are missing. Amazon's the only site I can order from that I trust I'm so out of the US...

Don't know how much good it will do... but it can't hurt to try!

It's already out in some stores. I saw it in Suncoast over the weekend. Almost bought it, but wasn't sure if it was the same one being advertised on the RS site. Too bad it's not the entire season.

I haven't pre-ordered it, but I'm actually very interested in it. Mostly to see Marty's audition video. How much was it at Suncoast?

I received this Rockstar DVD yesterday and played it last night....well, I wish there was more on it. Not enough Marty to suit me. Most of the clips we have seen before on the Rockstar.MSN.com site But I still think for the price it is worth the purchase.

The audition tapes are not performances just a minute or two of some of the contestants talking to the camera answering questions. Marty is on for a couple of mins talking about why he thinks he will do good at this and also about his age.... That is it! But he does look and sound adorable in it....

I preordered from both Sony site and Amazon.com This one that arrived came from Sony. So I cancelled my Amazon one. It still had not shipped.
BTW, for JD fans the DVD is a real treat I am sure. But not so much for any of the others. Although Marty does have more Rock Star show performances on the DVD than any other contestant, there is a whole set of JD with INXS from the mini-concert after the finale....and he does the intro to the DVD, plus he is in most all the reality clips on the set. So he is who gets the most screen time on the DVD.
I am trying to find out if there are any easter eggs on the thing that might make me like it more..... Anyone know? I have looked the traditional places onlineand can't find them mentioned.

I think hubby might be getting me this for Christmas. Now I think I'll be disappointed. I would have wished for more Marty, and I'll probably play the "adorable" part over and over and over and ...

Ugh! Why so few Marty moments and more JD clips? Darn. And here I was so looking forward to it. Maybe Mark Burnett has an agreement with INXS to market the band after the show. Ergo, lots more JD than anyone else. Oh well...

For 11 bucks some Marty is better than no Marty. If you can stomach JD. Which I can.. some..if I'm already in a tolerant mood or desperate for a Marty fix.
Note: No offense to the JD fans. I'm very very very happy for him. He saw the brass ring and he grabbed it. He's just not my cup of tea. Not even my cup of OJ on a day when I have a miserable cold. But to each his/her own.

I got it from Sony on Saturday. Marty is on the most after JD, so that's nice. Mig really gets short shrift, though.

Ok, the sweetest thing just happened. My co-worker just walked in and presented me with a copy of the Rockstar DVD!!! He bought it with some of the money he won in a workplace incentive program, because he says he thought I should have won it . . . . awwww. Do you think I brought this Rockstar thing to work at all? I work in the evening and I used to watch the videos from each episode on MSNBC after my shift was over. It didn't take long for my coworker to get hooked, so much so that on the stroke of midnight he would walk over to my desk, log me out, hand me a tea and pull up a chair so we could watch the show together. He really liked all the top singers, from Deanna on up. He thought INXS should have chosen Marty AND Suzy to really shake things up. Anyway, even though he thought the DVD was "underwhelming" because he would've bought the whole series - he just made my night. I'm happy to have it.
