Thanks for all the reviews, lesley ^^^^
I have to disagree with the 1st one - Pretty Vegas's guitar riffs don't sound like Devil Inside to me. Not by my recollection, anyhow.
I went to Rolling Stone's site last night out of curiosity and they didn't have a review up for the album, which I found surprising.
I think Billboard's numbers will be posted this afternoon or tonight.
Edited to Add -
I just got done searching Billboard's charts and I couldn't find "Switch" anywhere. Is it too soon for it to make the charts?
I did see that "Pretty Vegas" is #21 in the Adult Top 40.

Here's the review of Switch from Entertainment Weekly:
Give them this: At times, this needlessly reconstituted band sounds uncannily like its old self, with new hire J.D. Fortune mimicking Michael Hutchence's stud-muffin leer and the surviving members churning out riffy half-songs just as they always did. Recycled as they may be, such moments are infinitely preferable to the strip-joint sleaze rock they also try. But in the end, secondhand INXS is all this is. C- --David Browne

This is an interesting thread. Thanks for all the reviews Lesley. Also listen to some of the songs, not to my taste really. But must admit to liking Suzy's contributions, the woman has a good voice.

That's the problem with INXS these days. They are no longer artists and they no longer believe in themselves. They worry far too much about what their fans think and only seem to be in it for the money. That's the kiss of death as far as I'm concerned.
What's funny to me is that INXS put JD in the first bottom three on RS: INXS and the only thing that they had to go on at that point was their own impressions. Granted, Suzie was in the bottom three as well, but she was there because she screwed up her lyrics and that was an excuse to put her there.
The fact is that they could've made a killer album with Suzie and I bet you that they would've been a lot better band if they would've picked her. Also, I think that a lot of old time fans like myself would've had a lot more respect for them for not picking a MH impersonator and carving out a new path. Picking Marty would've taken them in a completely new direction, but Suzie would've taken them down a familiar path, yet sparked new life in the band.
My opinion of course.

Well......................... The reviews to me are not surprising.......... INXS has been out of the music scene too long.....and now that they are back....unless they do something so different from what has gone before...they are going to be very short lived.......... The fortunate thing for them is they have devoted fans that are sticking with them............hopefully that's enuff........ If Switch was the first album for INXS it would be doing alot better in my view..........but..........it isn't......and unfortunately for them......they are being compared to themselves and other established Icons of the indusrty...... Going with J.D. in my opinion was "A combination for disaster" (to quote a song....lol)........ And the album is not living up to it's name.......I think of the album title in terms of a Switch from what has gone before to an updated.....year 2000 sound........not just the change of lead singer.......... If they had chosen Marty I believe their would have been a large 'Switch' because Marty is noones puppet.......as he so aptly displayed on RS.......... I think INXS was afraid of the changes that would take place with Marty as the lead singer.......tood bad for them........great for the Lovehammers!!!! I hate to say this but I truly believe the LoveHammers will steal the shows........... Time will tell......You gals can be the judge of that........

Saw their concert in Omaha the other night.....unbelievable!!!! One of the best concerts I have ever been to by far. What a humanitarian Bono is....and this prevailed throughout the entire show.

I wanted Marty to win too initially until I heard the Lovehammers. To me, INXS now sounds like a INXS cover/tribute band. Switch would've been a perfect name for the new INXS album if Suzie was the lead singer.
