Interesting that after all the talk of members of Van Halen, they're not mentioned at all in that release. Thanks for the update Amy.

Wow! That does sound great. I can't wait. It seems like we'll have a Rockstar that really ROCKS!
I just hope they have Lh on the show. That would be so cool!

Here's what I got on one of my google alerts. Plus it gave some info on Mig that I didn't know. Enjoy!

Reality rocker Burnett goes Supernova
Reality guru Mark Burnett has marshalled an array of heavy rockers including Motley CrĂ¼e drummer Tommy Lee and axemen from Metallica and Guns 'n' Roses to star in the next season of Rock Star.
Airing on CBS in the US, Global TV in Canada and Fox8 in Australia, the follow-up to Survivor exec producer Burnett's search for the new frontman for Aussie rock combo INXS will this time pluck a new rock god from 16 hopefuls to form a band called Supernova. Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke will return as hosts.
This time around the likes of Slash, Macy Gray, Moby and Rob Zombie will also participate in what promises to be a leather and studs fest of titanic proportions. "The winner of Rock Star will not only play in huge stadiums before sold-out crowds, they will do it alongside legendary musicians from three of America's biggest, all-time rock bands," enthused Burnett.
Burnett is sharing exec production duties with Navarro, Tommy Lee, David Goffin, Lisa Hennessy and Carl Stubner, with Conrad Riggs and Eden Gaha down as co-executive producers.
Transmitting this July, the series will follow the selection process and the recording of a new album, written by Butch Walker, that will be released in the autumn before the new band embarks on a world tour starting in early 2007.
The global search will also feature an Australian leg, given the original format's Aussie connections, arriving in Melbourne on March 28. It will also air on Fox8 as a one-hour special called The Road to Rock Star, a copro between Foxtel and Burnett. Likewise, given the fact that a Canadian won last year, auditions begin in Toronto and Vancouver next week.
Last year, Burnett's INXS talent search unearthed JD Fortune, who now fronts the band and has contributed to their new album, Switch. They are currently on the first leg of their world tour. Runner-up Marty Casey and his band The Lovehammers are supporting INXS on tour, while third finalist, Aussie singer MiG Ayesa, has been signed to Universal Music.

Well now we know. Tommy Lee and Jason Newsted starting a new band 'Supernova' finding a lead singer. Cool I really enjoyed the show last summer... guess that kinda goes without saying. I am looking forward to another Rock n Roll summer. Sharon like the guest apperances thing too ;D

I'll definately be tuning in! Sounds awesome! But "Supernova" ?? I'm sorry, but that sounds lame. Maybe I'll get used to it after the show starts rolling. They should have had a suggestion poll after the format for the show was announced for possible names for the band. Or maybe we could have picked and voted for one throughout the show. Hmmm.....

According to the Free Press, Suzie McNeil, a Toronto singer who finished fourth on Rock Star's first season, will be among those returning for a second chance at fronting a Rock Star band. ' So, Suzie's coming back? Nooooooo! Not another season of whiny, crybaby Suzi! Ack. She's an Abba girl....I DON'T see her fronting a band with the likes of Tommy Lee. I'm with you, Amy! An Abba tribute band? Suzie never really struck me as a rocker, and she allowed Ellie Mae to overhandle her, so she wound up looking ridiculous on more than one occasion. She'd be perfect in "Mama Mia."

Also, this is the kind of band that would suit someone like Marty better than INXS ... much more open to something new ... of course, is there really another Marty out there?

I don't want Suzie back either. Even though I love her voice and hope the best for her, she'll never front a band with these guys in it. I can't even believe she's want to come back.

Marty Casey is one of a kind. But you already know that, I just felt like "saying" it ;D

I thought the same thing about the name--very strange--doesn't sound rock at all--I think voting on a name is a great idea

It may not be the best name but once the music starts......you'll forget about it for a few minutes while you're lost in the song.......... I'd like to know how they came up with it....... Saying there is another Marty is nuts...it won't happen........ The lead singer for the new band will have their own style........

Even though I hate to bad-mouth rock bands, the name Supernova sounds like a name from the 80's. It is full of talented musicians but the name kinda turns you off. Of course the lead singer they choose will NOT be another Marty as he is one-of-a-kind but I do look forward to watching the show.

Suzy was pretty good I think but every time she breathed in when she was singing you could hear flem in her throat... gross

Super Nova. This brings back memories of my childhood...... there was a teenage boy in our neighborhood who had a real souped up Chevy Super Nova and he was always taking a car full of us out driving around. Radio blaring. Just driving around town for hours. No seatbelts...not back then. We would spend hours doing this!
The car was a real bad ass. I was maybe 11 or 12.... and got to ride many many times in it because he was my best friends older brother.

I'm definitely more excited about this season at this point than I was prior to Season One. Of course, they'll really have to hit it out of the park on the first show because I think everyone's expectations will be a lot higher.
Can you imagine some of the "clinics" they'll have with these guys!?!
Also, I wonder how the elimination will work this time?

Wow.....can you imagine how well Marty would've done if he'd held out until Season 2?! These musicians are more his style than INXS. But I'm thankful Marty was on Season 1 - we now have a most excellent MCLH CD by Epic. Edited to add: Here's another great article....this one more in-depth: www.realitytvwebsite.com/news031806.html
