Just a quick recap before I drag myself upstairs and grab a few hours of sleep. Rock Star Supernova was incredible. The house band (same as last time!) was fantastic and the performances were smoking hot! This is a very edgy group - I never saw so much 'ink' in one room! They are quite a bit more feisty than last season's group, so I'm expecting some crazy stuff from them! Dave Navarro was looking mighty fine according to K87, while I thought Tommy Lee was cuter in person than I every imagined he could be The crowd favorites Lukas and Delina (sp) tore it up. They had the entire audience mesmerized by their performances. Don't look for them in the bottom 3 anytime soon. As a nod to Polar - Storm Large did a great job and to Diva - we caught a Mig sighting just before the taping began. To the rest of you, this is gonna be an incredible season - don't miss it.

I posted this over in RS seson II but figured I'd move it here as well since 4R created this thread.
OK...well I just got home from the taping of the premier episode of the new "Rockstar"...sooo sooo much fun. Dave Navarro looked as hot as ever and the new "Supernova" group looked amazing too. everyone was very energized...and Dave said the crowd was looking HOT!!! (duh dave...ha ha ha) I went with 4Reeds and CJspas. The new group seemed much "edgier" than last year...but maybe that is because the genre is a little heavier than INXS...anyway..there were definately a few that stood out...and a couple that you knew that wouldn't be there long unless they really stepped it up. There was one cute boy who we deemed "baby marty-dino" who was cute and had something about him...and I was excited to see him get on stage but then his performance was definately lacking...(I think he may be in the bottom 3) then there was a chick names Dilana...this chick is one to watch, she blew the roof off the place...Tommy Lee couldn't even speak and Dave had many things to say that I expect will be edited out....ha ha ha. Then there was "Lukas" he is another of my favorites...his on-stage persona is amazing and definately shook the crowd up...and he was last to perform (we had been standing and screaming and clapping and "raising the roof" for 6 hours) so for him to make us jump was an amaxing feat. He was sort of hip hopish in the way he carried himself, but very confident and his on stage persona was great. I can't wait to see him again. a few other favorites were "storm, patrice, josh, toby and ryan" from what I can remember. I really think this season is going to be amazing. I can't wait to watch...I hope I am not on camera... just a side not...when wse heard someone would be singing "Lithium" we were saying.."uh oh...that is scary...because those are some big shoes to fill (after seeing marty's kick ass" performance) of the same song we didn't think it was a good idea for someone else to do it. But it was Dilana who sang it...and I think even Marty would agree that she was AWESOME...I can't wait for all of you to see it. WOW. (she was definately the favorite of the night)...after the show I walked over to the rockers and gave some props to Lukas and a little "keep it up" wish to Chris (aka. baby Marty-Dino) since I liked him but he really got it bad from the group...but I liked him and hope if he ends up in the bottom 3 that he really brings it, cuz I would like him to stay. anyway. It is a great group and it was a really good time....I hope yo all enjoy the show on Wednesday.

Great reviews 4R and Kim87 ! Nice overview of the new rockers and VERY exciting to hear that the RS house band is back. We'll be looking forward to hearing when Marty will be on the panel (and hopefully performing)...should be a terrific night.

a few funny things from today, inbetween the actual tapings... Dave took his shirt off (I was sitting right behind him) to go smoke - he went for a smoke every break. One of them, he came back & one of the producers/staff said something to him that I didn't hear, & Dave goes, "Dude, I'm GOING to smoke! They KNOW that!" lol during the audience questions... we learned that Ryan likes cheese only NY pizza Storm grew up wanting to be a werewolf, hair & fangs galore... Lukas was asked about his similar 'attitude' to one JD Fortune... I sat next to a friend of Tommy Lee's- she was really cool, anyway she said cutting people was going to be really rough on him. He's super nice & doesn't like to dog people. He actually was really bummed after the person was cut - after they were saying their last words to the Rockers, Tommy Lee was like "Man! I hate this!!!" it was interesting sitting right behind the band & Dave, seeing their expressions when the bottom 3 were singing. At times they seemed totally detached... hmmm.. Brooke looked MUCH better in her outfit today than the one yesterday. I'm sure in person that silver thing looked hot but not on camera. I noticed that a lot from last year- what looked great in person (because she's flawless) looked crappy on tv. ok that's what I just thought of for now...the rest will be on the show!

Also, Tommy Lee & the band said it MANY MANY MANY times...song selection was KEY...I almost think that is going to take precedence over stage presence...

Thanks for sharing Jodie! Sil and I were just talking about how it really does seem that Tommy was bummed when they were giving the bad news to Matt.

OK...this was the taping on 7/09 (the 2nd performance show)
OK, I just got back from the taping (once again) and the only bad thing I could say about it, was that my entire row was stuck up in the balcony....(THE BALCONY SUCKS) I mean you can see EVERYTHING, but still I felt more like a spectator than a participant and that was NO good. Otherwise the show was good. Magni opened up and was pretty good (i'm not a huge fan). You will trip out to know they sing like 5 songs we all associate w/ Marty on this episode...some good performances, some not so good. Dilana sang Ring of Fire in her own very intense way (though her choice of outfit was garish and made me ill...way too goth for her)..Lukas came out and did Coldplay and (for me) stole the show...you will LOVE the comment Tommy makes to him...I hope they use it...I won't spoil it for anyone here. But it was genius!!! I am definately a Lukas fan, I really dig is style and his stage presence. Chris (or as we at the show call him..."baby Marty-Dino) was definately better tonight but still not winning me over, and he needs to straighten his hair again. Toby closed the show and I think is a fan favorite (though I am still partial to Lukas).. It was a good show and Brook's dress is awesome. Tommy Lee was in rare form today and kept giving Jason Newstead a hard time every time he criticized a rocker. It was pretty funny. I have to say how impressed I am w/ Tommy. He sems so genuinely excited and thankful for all of us there to root on the rockers, he kept looking up at the balcony with appreciation and said he just wanted to hug everyone. what a cool dude. He was also dancing a lot to the DJ's music between shots. what a trip. Anyway, it was a good time, can't wait to see it on air on tuesday.
ciao...

Just got back from the taping myself..Hiya Kim! And we were in da pit...boy do my feet hurt!!! And there were some 8 foot Amazon women in front of us...grr...besides that show was fun! Unfortunately, I think we are gonna be on TV...gah...I will close my eyes tightly for that part, who wants to see themselves on TV??!? Me likey Toby and Lucus, but the goth-girl Dilana rocks too! We'll see how it looks on Tuesday...quite a different perspective when you are there live... We were right next to the judges which was pretty darn cool...did I mention how hot Dave Navarro is...boy him and I are gonna be old pals if we keep running into eachother every week...Vegas, CBS, the Roxy...geez...hehe

OK I was with Kim in the balcony. I agree Kim I felt totally disconnected--it wasn't as much fun. Plus I didn't like the balcony was swaying and moving. When people walked across it moved like we were having an earthquake! Sceery! Didn't make me feel secure-- I think if I go again--I'll have fear of heights! No I can't go in the balcony--I have this fear of heights! ;D I was standing right above the rockers--so it was cool to see more of them and their reactions but honestly--I'd vote for the pit any day. There was one woman whose job--I'd call water girl. She had bottles of water and she'd give them to the rockers seated in the rocker area during breaks but had to collect all the bottles before they started taping again. I started wondering is she keeping all the bottles straight? Are they getting new bottles each time? Or are they swapping spit. OK I told you I felt disconnected from the show in balcony. There are am thinking about water bottle logistics--how sad am I? :(r Let me start with my no likes this week: Chris ( I want him to do better I just don't think he's up for it) , Zayra (she just doesn't fit this band--plus she told the band that she was in diapers when they were selling out stadiums and basically admitted that she didn't have any of their albums--wouldn't you think that if you were auditioning for this you would hmmmmm) & Magni (yawn!) Then there was Jill--who did Violet a Courtney Love/song--didn't work for me. She's got a great voice but the song didn't highlight that at all. This song didn't work for me at all. Could put Phil here too--he did better but he is ,as Dave put it,--alternative band material not dirty rock. Top performance for me this week was Toby. Although he's going to have show an edge to end up with the band. He did a Somebody told me by the Killers and his voice was just as good rocking as it was acoustic. The band made a comment about using the stage better-- I'd agree but it is week two and he's got time to work it. I liked Lucas' performance but I can't bring myself to really like him. To me he keeps me at a distance and doesn't draw me in. I watch him and think--he's interesting, doing a good job with the song but I'm not sure I'd pay money to see him or buy an album from him. As Kim said Tommy Lee made a comment which I'll only repeat if it doesn't make the air--right now watch on Tuesday. Dilana reminded me of a goth Stevie Nicks tonight. She did a great job with her song but also wondering how this fits with SuperNova. Did I tell you I was in the balcony and felt disconnected? Can't wait to watch it on TV and see what my impression is then. I think I've said enough (hopefully not too much to spoil anything for anyone!) Later. CJ

OK, so I was up in the cheap seats with K87 and CJ. Let me further explain that the 'balcony' is just a dressed up catwalk which bounced and swayed everytime we moved. I did not like that feeling The show was great and we could really see everything that was going on. We were directly above the rockers area so during their breaks it was cute to see them chat/kiss/make out with their significant others. Very Interesting Also got to see a little play 'cat-fighting' between the contestants which was fun. Still, I'd rather be on the ground experiencing the show than in the balcony as a spectator. I think my favorite rocker last night was Toby. I don't know if he's got what it takes to make it all the way through, but he sounds good and is cute to look at as long as he's there My least favorite would still be Zayra - can't stand her look or sound and to be honest, I really don't know how she made it on the show. My vote for best dressed goes to Chris. He has a bit of Marty's style which draws me in As to worst dressed - what the heck was Jill thinking Can't wait to see how it all looks on TV tomorrow! PS - Forgot to add that we saw Mark Burnett. He's a cutie in person

If so what are the rest of you wearing? You gals need to write MC.org on your namds while your waving Thanks for the recaps

unbelievable...I typed this giant review, message board got stuck & I had copied what I wrote & now it's gone I'll try to re-create!! Review of Week 2 performances - live taping (airing 7/11/06 -don't read if you don't want to know who sang what ahead of time) Sorry for the lateness of this, wanted to post sooner but running out of time as I get ready for the Roxy! (ha ha, yes, early!) I will see what airs tonight & then post more later, I'm sure much will be edited out. I'm going by memory, too cuz I left my notes at home. Tommy Lee was in rare form...I think he might've done a little pre-show partying!?? who could blame him, it was a beautiful sunny California Sunday... he was asking the girl rockers what underwear they were wearing.. & at one point he tossed his mike to one of the rockers, I forget who, & they said "Tommy, I think you were a little short" & Dave said "I bet he's never heard THAT before!!" the audience was cracking up. Me, Diva & Hubby & friend, Doc & hubby & Mrsbud were standing just to the left of Supernova & Dave. (if you're looking at the stage.) You may see us, but we had, like Doc said, 8' amazon women in front of us & I was laughing & jumping up behind one of them with my mc.org bracelet in my hand, thinking at least maybe you'll see that on film... LOL (remember I'm 5'0"). The other gals were up above us in the balcony & Virginia was down by the catwalk... OK Zayra really HAS to go. She's awful. Her look, her sound, her stage presence, her argumentative-ness. When Tommy said (after trying to stay tactful & kind) said "I'm confused" & she retorted "Look who's talking!!" She sang You Really Got Me. Well she really gots ta go. Storm -Cheap Trick, Surrender -- as Dave says, it's Broadway-ish, like Cats. Patrice - sang Heart Shaped Box - again thinking of Jordis' performance, which I don't think anyone can top. I saw her sing that twice live & she just killed it. She was good, better than before, but just ok. Jenny - Tainted Love - She looks like a blonde version of a tv actress. Geez I'm so distracted by their looks. I didn't really like this version that much but her performance was better than last week. Chris - MUST keep his hair straight. He's such a Marty copy-er. He sang Take Me Out, which I think for most of us here was the turning point of WHO's THAT! for Marty...and I just didn't feel it. His dress style is even mimicking Marty. Josh - sang With Arms Wide Open - again, I think of Marty! That was the first time I saw Marty live...ok Josh did really great, but there was definite feedback of his Stevie Wonder-like style. I think he'll be around for a few more rounds, but will not be fronting Supernova. Dilana - sang Ring of Fire (Marty & LH AGAIN!)- completely mellow, stood still. Which the band loved...I just did not really care for it. In person I thought she had a cool look going on, but in watching the tv screens & what it would look like on tv, I thought she looked old, almost reminded me of Siouxie & the Banshees. She's going to make it far in the competition tho.... Jill sang Violet by Hole - she did not get good reviews from the band, who did not like her Courtney Love imitiation, which she said she did not intend (she looked like the cover of the album Live Through This) - but I really liked her performance. I think it was better than last week. Magni - better than last week, but still don't really care for him..he sang My Generation, the Who. Ryan, I think he sang Rolling Stones Jumpin Jack Flash, ok. Don't really care for his look. Dayna - sang Born to be Wild - Tommy said it was more like Born to be Mild! I just think she looks like she's playing dress up. The band asked her if her parents even recognized her, she said probably not! but she was a bit defensive & saying "but I wore the leopard print! I got the fishnets!!". I think Winnie from Wonder Years. eh. Phil - well I just think he's a doll...the guys like his voice but not his rubbery swagger. Tommy Lee does. He sang If you could only see by Tonic. It was better than last week...he's really cute in person ;D Toby - was awesome! loved his performance, his vocals, & the audience loved him. The guys gave him great reviews. He sang Somebody Told Me by the Killers & Lukas - I just think he's really good. I think he's roit for their band. Sometimes his look bugs but other times it looks perfect. The band called it his post goth-punk rock & into the future look, like he covers it all. Tommy Lee said this time "can we get on the tour bus now!" or something like that. Lukas sang Coldpay - I forget which song. My mind is going to slush, so much to do, so little time... anyway, enjoy tonight! my bottom 3 predictions: Zayra, Chris, Dayna or Magni.

My top 3 performances were those by Dilana, Toby, and a tie between Lukas and Jenny. Those I can't imagine fronting Supernova: Dana, Phil, Josh, Ryan - they are nice people and good singers in their own right...but I feel that they are just not right for the band.
I thought Zayra sounded nasal on some parts of her song and that way she answered back when the guys were commenting was quite shocking.
