oh how I want to review today's taping...but I am soooooo tired...so I will write in the morning. I'm sure one of the so Cal girls will beat me to it...
but let's just say ....

Well we got there pretty early...and thanks to Diva we scored the VIP line (separate line-up from the general line)....fast forward to the show was about to start. We're told the rockers are each going to perform TWO songs - a "set", so the band could see their interaction with the audience between songs!  One cover of a classic rock song & one original. The cali girls (Diva & hubby, me, Polarfan, Kimberly87 & 4Reeds) are standing on the left, right in front of the rockers, woo hoo! Kimberly's ready with her LUKAS on her hands & I'm ready with my pics of me & Lukas & me & Toby... show starts with us watching the entire webisode, with Gilby's song writing clinic. (The rockers, Dave, & SN aren't out yet) - so we see how Gilby responded to their skills. Not too much commentary on that when they came out. When they finally DID come out...Dilana is being carried out. *yawn*! What NOW Dilana...turns out she tore a calf muscle during rehearsals. IMO, way elevated to keep her in with sympathy. More & more for me, she just grates on my nerves, because everything is about her, nothing is her fault, & I'm tired of hearing "everyone makes mistakes, we all have our bad days" blah blah blah. No Dilana, YOU made a mistake & you keep going on & on & on about it! I digress. So Dilana is first. She did her performance seated. Remember the webisode, with her fighting Lukas for the Who song? She's never heard it all the way through. She did a pretty great version, but I'm still over her. She basically had nothing to say to the audience, & then was about to start with her original song...when the stage manager had to stop her because something was up with the lighting. She didn't know what to say. She said she had a joke, but then didn't say one. Dave egged her on & said tell the one about the black guy, the jewish guy & the mexican! No can do. FINALLY after like 2-3 minutes of silence, someone yells sing something, so she breaks into Janis Joplin, Mercedes Benz (or whatever it's called) - yeah, she was good singing that, but predictable because they have similar voices. TLee yells let's get going! F! the lighting! Her original was more woe is me stuff, forgettable. Ah the mighty have fallen...Bottom 3. Next is Magni - sorry RF - although Magni was GOOD, very GOOD, he was just singing. He sang...dang what did he sing. See? forgettable. The guys even commented on the fact that he sang both songs exactly the same. His retort? "Because it was ME singing them both!" It's just that he brought nothing special to the performance. His original was probably the edgiest he's been yet. But, Sorry Magni, Bottom 3. Modified to add (under duress from Rockfan) Magni sang Back in the U.S.S.R. - *yawn* - I'm not a Beatles fan so there wasn't much he could do. Again, it was good, Magni sings well, it's just boring.... (Jodie ducks to avoid Rockfan's blows)Next, Storm Large. You know I've been cracking jokes about Storm & think she needs to go. I even retracted my "hidden shadows" statement after seeing the webisode package & seeing her streak across the patio into the pool, not much room to hide anything in what she was wearing. How Storm was in the video package, with her original song with Gilby, etc, was by far the most likeable she's ever been for me. So Storm comes out in a long button down coat, very Bowie-esque & in a hat (I predict those are coming off at some point)...and she does Suffragette City - I even kinda wrote her off from the beginning, because even tho I LOVE Bowie, I thought she would probably sound monotone & do her Ozzy eyes the whole way through. First Dave says, I LOVE that song, can I come rock with you? So on went the song. IMO, Storm's BEST cover song yet!! Very very good. And then her original -I'm sorry if I get the title wrong, but I think it was "What the F*** is Ladylike" - catchy! Well for the tv audience, it's "What oh what is Ladylike". Loved it!! Very very very good, the audience was catching on, & this became up to that point the rocker's favorite original & performance. Then comes Lukas...dear Lukas. Because he is always the diplomat, he has to sing Livin on a Prayer. Think Marty with Hit Me Baby One More Time. Lukas stripped it down & KILLED IT. he stood still, he played it that way the whole way through. Audience LOVED it & so did SN. TLee was at a loss for words. But they did try to backpedal & say "this is by far not over yet & everyone has an equal chance!" - Nice try. Lukas's original was I think called Nobody's Perfect. It had ballad-y parts & rockin parts & was just awesome. Very emotional & connected with his songs. Last is Toby, singing Mr. Brightside...hmm, will he copy Marty? Or the Killers? Toby is such high energy, that it doesn't really matter what he sings. He's a lot of fun to watch & SN says that all the time. He did it exactly like the original - so not too creative, but at least he didn't try to do Marty's version. Fun. Toby's original - don't remember what it was called, but was VERY fun & energetic & catchy. The audience caught on right away - OH OH, OH OH-OH OH! You'll see. SN said he definitely brings FUN to rock n roll & that's what they're all about. Brooke's in a pirate dress, she's definitely starting to show when you see her up close (she sat in the rocker's section for one part)...K87 got a Lukas wink & I got a rock on & smile sign when Lukas saw my pic with him (8x10 lol). Toby wanted to keep the one with him in it but the guards would have none of it. Afterwards, we went outside to get CDs from the houseband & we got a pic with Jim, Nate, & Rafe, 4Reeds, K87, Diva, & me & the wristbands of course. yay! that will be coming soon... We met up with Doc & hubby to celebrate Polar's bday & then it was home for me! looooong day but really so much fun. I'm going Wed, so is Polar, k87 & cjaspas, so stay tuned! Oh, last bottom 3, since their has to be one, I think will be Storm only cuz she's been in the bottom 3 before. Based on performances & antics, I think Dilana should go home. I've heard they're keeping 4 in the final show, not 3. thanks for your patience! (edited to fix typos, sorry!) |

There were NO shout outs or I love yous from the audience to Dilana OR Magni. I was standing right in front of Magni & I felt even kind of sad for that...Magni is miles above Dilana!

& another rag on Dilana - not sure if this was in the webisode or comments from the band, about Dilana being too literal in her song writing...with using words like 'screen' (you know Gilby, like LAPTOP duh) & if she doesn't like what she's reading, ctrl/alt/del! ugh. I still can't believe her original was an up yours to the fans who kept around this long as it is. EVS!
ok rae, back to bed...(unless I remember somethin else)
good lord, how can I lay in bed when it's about 85 degrees, I'm looking out onto the ocean in Laguna Beach...wah!! (oh wait, I sound like Dilana! lol)

OK...Looks like Jodie beat me to the punch this time...and I like that..now I can just make a few comments and not type out the entire thing. As far as Dilana goes...her performance was good, and she did sound much more "clear" than usual...but like jodie said I am so tired of her pity party that i want to vomit. she was so crippled last night that she was carried out into the pit, then also carried out onto stage,  but then she jumps up and is dancing during her set....(so which is it, can you not walk or not?) and SHE is the one that is harping on all the drama...she waned to get back to the music, but she is the only one still egging it on..and she totally was dissing her "fans" during the reality thing they let us watch in the songwriting thing w/ gilbby......c-mon....I am over her attitude. BYE DILANA! (B3) Magni.....I think he is a talented man, and seems very nice and personable, but BORING!!! there is no way I could tell you what he sang...i have no idea, and everything he does is exactly the same, he never put a new spin on anything and just does nothing for me. Dave made a comment to him that he seemed VERY comfortable witht he HOUSE band, that he melds in with them. I am not sure if that is good or bad, (he should be meling, and looking good for SN) soo.... I think he is talented, but not right for SN...sorry ladies...my opinion (sorry, but B3) Storm...she has never really done it for me (sorry Polar) but last night she was really good. I got a lot of flack last night cuz I had never heard that Bowie song before...I thought I was going to be lynchd, but she sang well......I LOVED her original...it suited her perfectly...and the guys loved it as well. I loved the message of the song and the melody and all...I wold actually listen to that. Good job Stormy!!!! (though I am sure B3 once again, just because of her past...and can you really see her w/ SN?? I don't know) OK..ON TO MR. ROSSI. THEY COME OUT AND THE AUDIENCE WARMER IS POINTING OUT ALL THESE "ROSSI POSSE" POSTERS AND WE ARE ALL SCREAMING FOR HIM...ETC LOTS OF LUKAS LOVE THERE FOR SURE...LIKE JODIE SAID WE ARE STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THEM AND HE SEES MY "LUKAS" ON MY HAND AND GIVES ME A WINK AND A SMILE (OH LORDIE!  THAT SMILE IS MIND BOGGLING) PK...ANYWAY. THEN I TELL HIM TO "RIP IT UP" AND HE SAYS "DON'T WORRY BABY"...OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES...i WAS TOO SPELLBOUND BY HIS EYES. HA HA. IT IS FUNNY, EVERYTIME I LOOKED OVER AT HIM HE WAS LOOKING AT ME...AND WE WOULD SMILE. DIVA'S HUSBAND SAID WE WERE MAKING GOOGLIE EYES AT EACH OTHER ALL NIGHT. (I'LL TAKE IT!) HA HA. SO LUKAS GIVES UP THE SONG HE WANTS TO DILANA AND I AM SCARED TO HEAR HIM SING BON JOVIE FOR GODS SAKE..BUT AM HOPING FOR THE BEST. AND I AM SECRETELY HOPING FOR HIM TO KILL IT AND HE COMES UP THERE...ALL ALONE, SINGLE SPOTLIGHT, GUITAR SLUNG VERY LOW...ETC! AND HE LETS YOU HAVE IT! IT IS GORGEOUS, IT IS DARK IT IS DRAMATIC...IT IS GENIUS!!!!  BON JOVIE SHOULD HOPE TO EVER SING THAT SONG SO WELL. HIS ARRANGEMENT WAS AMAZING!!! OK...SO I HATE TO CORRECT JODIE...BUT HIS ORIGINAL SONG WAS CALLED "HEADSPIN" HE SAID IT WAS ABOUT HIS MOTHER AND HOW PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES...SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES.. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! IT WAS SLOW THEN KICKED IT UP TO ROCK..IT WAS F***ING AWESOME! T.LEE WAS SPEECHLESS...THOUGH HE MADE A COMMENT WHICH WOULD MAKE YOU BELIEVE THAT LUKAS HAD WON IT FOR SURE..I WILL SAY WHAT HE SAYS LATER IF THEY DON'T AIR IT (WHICH I DOUBT THEY WILL) DAVE WENT ON WITH HIS USUAL BANTER W/ LUKAS..USUALLY THE SAME LOVE AND PRAISE FROM DAVE. THEN T.LEE CAME BACK AND REASSURED EVERYONE THE COMPETITION WASN'T OVER....(I liened back and whispered to Jodie...I's over. ha ha ha) bur THEY ALL LOVED HIM.......ANYWAY IT WAS AWESOME.. 2 Things I noticed as lukas was performing...one...the chick in front of me was holding her ears from me yelling for him (hello,,,,this is a place where people sing...so hence it is a show, so hence people will be yelling!!!!) don't come if your ears are too delicate for the loud music and yelling!!!! she looked back at me at one point and I smiled...then went back to yelling! ha ha 2ndly...........and this really pissed me off....I took my eyes away from lukas 2 times..once to look at the guys...(who were literally on the edges of their seats...yea!) and once to look at the rockers to see their expressions as he sang. Storm was up as usual...she is a great supporter. the others were watching him, smiling...doing all the normal things you do when as dilana said "your family" is on stage...or anyone for that matter. but what was our dilana doing as lukas was pouring his heart out..; "SHE WAS LOOKING AT THE GROUND TWISTING ONE OF HER BLUE STANDS OF HAIR" I was shocked so watched her for a good 15 seconds or more..and that is what she was doing...not "supporting her family" as she claims, but being a pouty little girl.....augh...that made me mad! but oh well... Bye Dilana! Toby was awesome! he jumped into the audience and ran around and his song was very catchy....we were even singing the hook after dinner. ha ha. we were wondering what his tattoo on his arm meant so as he sat there during the "pickups" I asked him and he was very nice...said it meant "music" in Welsh...for his mother..she is welsh...he points over to her in the back in the seats and is smiling...anyway..that is what it means...music. so sorry...this has been very long..so i will go. I just wanted to put in my 2 cents...I can't wait till wednesday!!! |
