i think they will introduce house band later --if they would have done it tonight, there would have been too many introductions for the first week -- a new band, 15 contestants. It's a lot for your average viewer to take in.

I overslept and missed the first hour of the live telecast this morning. Am watching the rerun now. So far, from what I've seen of the mansion scenes, there seems to be a lot of posturing going on. Lukas seems a bit too anxious to put his game face on but I saw his performance this morning and it was good though not as good as Dilana's - she was really wild! As for the posturing, I guess it's understandable since they only have a limited time to create an impression on the audience who will be voting for them. So they have got to think up their personal branding strategy in a hurry.
I'll share my favs later once I've finished the rerun.

I must say that zayra looks and sounds like she should have a bit part in Zorro! She totally destroyed Evanescence - and I love the song. Now I can't hear it without the mental image of Zayra shaking her uhhhhh assets. Apologies to any of her fans...

Ok I've caught up with what I missed this morning.
My favs are pretty much the same as everyone else: Toby, Dilana, Patrice, Josh. 2nd tier favs: Storm Large, Ryan Star and Matt Hoffer. I think Storm is beautiful and sexy - this coming from a straight female! I like Ryan's voice but I don't like his personality. Matt needs to be grittier.

I liked the Lithium chick the best. Over all I thought the ladies came out with the most talent. The boys left me cold.
I'm looking forward to tonights show. I'm curious what songs the band will have them sing. Will it be hits from their old bands? Can you see them singing "Welcome to the Jungle" to save their skin?

Yeah greeneyes, you're right. It's probably a culture thing. Just like how Magni appears pretty big headed in that he seemed to expect more from the audience - maybe in Iceland he's used to kind of adulation.

I don't know any of their names yet, so I can't comment. I have to say no one really stood out for me except Dilana. She skeered me but it kept me glued to the TV. It did make me miss Marty's version though. When Marty started his version it sounded great and when he hits the chorus he takes it up a few levels. Dilana's version keeps the same intensity all the way through. It kind of dissapointed me at the chorus. However, I can't wait to see what she does next. House Band:  Sounding hot and looking fine. My prediction: after they have picked as many lead singers for other bands, the final season will be finding a front person for the House band. Supernova: Hot dirty rockers  They only showed them being sweet to everyone. I wonder what they were like off-camera. Brooke: What the hell was she wearing? Dave: What a fine looking PPoD. The one thind that irked me was the guy who wore black flat front lowrise pants with a white belt and a fitted button down shirt with a tie and wrist bands. Hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm, where did I see that look before  Dude, can you fly your "wanna-bee" sign any higher.  |

ok heres my opinion of last nights show:my hubby thought all of them sucked except for a couple of the girls,my opinion was the guys didnt impress me much the girls however i thought kicked a**i liked zayra ,the blonde who did janis joplin,storme,and dilana even though listening to lithium by someone other than marty was hard she killed it.it will be interesting to see who goes home tonight and what the others bring to next week.i hope vh1 or cbs will show the reality part in the mansion so we can get to know these people better.ok thats my opinions.

I agree with most of you. Dilana rocked Lithium, as much as I thought that would be Marty's song forever. I thought she went a little too nuts at the end, but I will chalk that up to first performance enthusiam (remember Marty's first?) and see how she does in the coming weeks.
I liked Lukas, but I'm just not sure he has the vocal range of some of the others (the women in particular). He certainly knows how to put on a good show though.
Toby was...uh...yummy. And he sounded great acoustic. I'm not nearly as bothered by hearing some of the same songs as last season as I thought I would be. These people are really very talented.
Chris disappointed me, but really, I cannot imagine a worse song to have to sing than Roxanne. (Okay, okay, there is a whole thread of bad songs in the Marty section, but you know what I mean.) I give him credit for trying to change it up a bit, but it sure fell flat. Maybe if he survives he'll get a better song next time and surprise us.
I, too, thought the women were much better overall. Storm, Dilana, Jill, Dana, Patrice - all fabulous voices. I really, really, really did not like Zayra (and what the heck was up with that tail she was sporting?) but the rest of the women rocked it.
Of course, it's very early. My impressions of the first show of RS:INXS...did not bear out by the end of the season. So it'll be interesting to see how they all develop.
Wheeeeeeee! Season two!

OK, here's my two cents...
I never thought a woman could front Supernova, but after watching the taping last week, I think Storm and Dilana have a good chance. They are defiantly strong enough vocally. Storm came across a little better in person - but darn - she is 6 feet tall, I think she'd look great with the band.
Dilana scared me a bit when she ran down the stage. I thought she was gonna jump into the audience! She was the female favorite of the band and the crowd and I really liked her too.
Couldn't stand Zayra at the taping - she came across better on TV than I remembered.
As for men - Chris did let me down - I thought he was cute so hopefully he can step it up tonight!
Ryan Star reminds me a little too much of ____. So that kills it for me.
I liked Matt but maybe he's a little too mellow for them.
Toby was cute - but not sure if he'd be right for the band either.
Magni - ugghhh
As already mentioned - Lukas tore it up. He was defiantly the crowd favorite as well as the band's favorite. I liked him, but his freaky eyebrows bothered me (Sorry its all about the little details ;D)
Tonights show should be interesting. I had tixs but ending up not being able to go. Hopefully I can get in to the next show!

Was that Rafa? Damn, he's not as cute now...phoo.
Don't get me wrong, I love Billy Idol, but Rebel Yell annoys the hell out of me. It's like "Trees" only more annoying.
And yes, I was kind of annoyed how Dilana didn't go nuts during the chorus, but if I remember Nirvana's version, it's even less intense than Dilana.

Loved Josh. He really put himself into the song and made it his own. Dilana - OMG even hubster was impressed. Her perf. of Lithium was much diff. from Marty's but excellent. I don't know his name, but the last guy was great, too. Interesting when Dave says something like that's what is good about this show 'cuz it introduces new people. And then he says, "Dude, why don't I know you?" (paraphrasing) Quite telling.
I loved the way you could really read their faces up there. You could tell who they did or didn't like well before the end of the performance.

There's a thread in this section called "RS Supernova spoilers." If anyone knows, it should be in there. I know that jodieca went to the taping today and she did post in there, so go take a look! (I haven't checked - I'm in the "I don't want to know!" camp. ;D )

i liked matt, too...i just want to see him sing something else. he needs to get his edge on to be in this group. he's great on his own for sure.. I agree about Matt, but does anybody else find it really annoying how the judges complain about the song choice...when they’re the ones putting Coldplay on the song list, to begin with? BTW, I really want to take Matt out and get him a new haircut. |
