I'm disappointed in the outcome, but I'm not going to say any of the final 4 "sucked." That's just rude. They're all very talented in their own way.
With that said, music is subjective. Personally? I hate rap and country. Are they wildly popular genres of music? Yes! Just because I like/dislike something doesn't make me either right or wrong....it simply means I have an opinion. This is a public forum and I will be polite in expressing my opinion so as not to be rude to others.
I personally think SN (or whatever they'll be called in the future) chose style over substance. I have no desire to see/hear Lukas and Dilana in concert nor will I likely purchase the CD. I will, however, buy whatever Toby and/or Magni release.

Ok, here are my thoughts on Rock Star SN. First, in general I wasn't impressed with the show format this year compared to last year, just wasn't very exciting. I did like the fact that the guy contestants formed a strong bond that showed through. As for last night, I expected Magni to be the first to go not because he isn't good just not right for SN. I was shocked and disappointed that Toby was let go before Dilana, even though I guess in my heart I knew that would happen. At that point I got very nervous that they might actually pick Dilana. Thank God they didn't, I bought tickets for the SN show in Orlando last week and thought I might have to sell them on Ebay if Dilana won. So Lukas won and I am glad for that I do enjoy his singing style and stage presence, I actually went to bed with the acoustic version of headspin playing in my head. I don't know about anyone else, but the part that bothered me the most was Gilby telling Dalana he would help her with writing and putting out a CD. His comment of "I haven't offered this to anyone else only for you", just made me cringe. I hope that he is doing this because he knows she can't write a song for nothing (sorry Dalana fans, only my opinion) and the others will be fine on their own. Anyway, best of luck to all the contestants, I'm sure we will here from a few of them again.

A few quick statements:
1. This show was NO Rockstar INXS.
2. CANNOT believe Toby was not in final 2.
3. not a lukas fan BUT thought his slowed down version of his original "head spin" could make it on to my ipod -- it was hauntingly good.
4. no interest in the tour at this point....toby would have gotten me there, no hesitation.
5. lukas vs. dilana -- they chose the right person.

When the final three redid their songs from previous shows, I knew Lukas had it. His was the only one that showed the most growth, and what he did with it amazed me. He really does have a beautiful voice, and he knows how to work a crowd. The other two were good, but I almost felt like I was watching clips from earlier in the show.

"is having Marty still with the LH a wrong choice? Maybe Toby on his own will be the right choice .......like Marty .....if Toby won it would "--quote from above ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is not what I meant--Of course Marty w/LH is the best of all, but the bands were both stupid b/c INXS would have done better w/Marty and SN would have been huge w/Toby!! Toby has the voice, the charisma, the looks, old and young love him, U.S. and Aussie fans love him!! He is a doll--did you notice the audience when he sang and when the others sang? He can put on a show and I will buy tickets to see him--not SN

I wonder what ever happened to the version of "Trees" that Dave was supposed to record with Marty? I would have thought that it would be a bonus track like "Wish You Were Here" and "Sky is Falling".

I am very happy with the outcome. Either Toby or Lukas would have done it for me. When they eliminated Toby before Dilana I was really getting worried. But in the end, I'm glad Supernova paid attention to the actual voting numbers and chose Lukas (unless this was just their graceful escape of being stuck with Dilana!) Toby should have been standing there with Lukas, not Dilana. When Storm was on the Ellen show, didn't she confirm that she would be there with the Houseband on tour? So I assumed that it would be her, Magni, Toby and Dilana as well. Now they make it sound like Dilana is the only one joining the Houseband?! Hmmm.....Guess I might just have wait for Toby to come to my town with HIS band! CONGRATS LUKAS!!

Hey Yak,
The only retake was a clip early on with Brooke announcing the bottom 2.
They did let Magni and Toby go very quicky - I felt kind of disconnected from it because it happend so fast. I think they were just trying to cram a lot into a 1 hour show.
As to Lukas' sunglasses. Just before they came out to perform with Supernova, he was having trouble with the sunglasses. Kept taking them off and looking at them. Finally he ran back to the rocker's pod and came out wearing a new pair. He threw the old pair out into the audience. A girl standing just behind us caught them!
As for Supernova wearing more make-up. They left the set for quite a while why they were 'making their decision' on who to choose for the lead singer.
My theory is that since they probablly decided on Lukas weeks ago (if not from day one - hee hee) they probably got their make up touched up and had a few drinks instead!
Seriously though, I am not bitter about Toby losing. I really wanted him to come in second and I still adore him!
K87 and I do agree that from day one, Lukas and Dilana were the obvious fan favorites at the show tapings and Tommy was smitten with both of them from the get go. Tommy looked like a kid at Christmas who got the biggest present he was wishing for!
I am very happy for all you Lukas fans. I just about have my hearing back from K87 screaming when they announced him as the winner yesterday - hee hee
Rock on Toby!
Can't wait to see what you do next.

4reeds.....Thanks for clearing that up for me and for the other details....IMO Dilana and Lukas just seemed so, uh, bored or non-emotional when Lukas was announced as the winner...Were the previously eliminated contestants even there for this finale?

Concerning Mr. Toby Rand (and his buddy Mr. Lukas Rossi), check this out. From this article: www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,23663,20410654-10388,00.html Rand won't have a problem finding a place to live in LA.
Lee has handed the keys to his Malibu mansion to Rossi and Rand to live in while he is touring the US with his old band, Motley Crue, until November 19.
Rand also has a new $US30,000 ($39,885) Honda car he won on the show for his performance of Throw it Away.
"I don't have a US driver's licence yet," he joked.
Supernova will tour the US in January and Rand has agreed to play as a support act on the tour.
A tour of Australia is also being planned by both Supernova and Juke Kartel.
"This guy is going to be giant in Australia and giant in the world," Newsted said of Rand.

Yak
Most of the contestants were there, but they were up in the VIP bleachers.
Since we had VIP wristbands, we got to exit onto the VIP patio area and hang out with them after the show.
Got to talk to Matt Hoffer about Marty for a bit, talked with Dirty Phil, Chris Pierson, Dana (hubby's fav) and took a lot of pics.
Hung out the most with Toby's family - they were very nice people! Toby's mom mentioned that Juke Kartel was going to fly out to the US next week to start recording their new album - I wonder if they'll all be staying at Tommy's mansion - hee hee
Talk about a House Party!!!!

Hi Yak! *waves*
Anyway, I'm glad that at least this year's band went with the riskier choice ... Lukas is no Marty, of course, but he gives them a modern edginess that I think they really need.
And you guys GOTTA check out LeperPop today!

Well, I can't say Lukas was a big shock but it was, for the most part, anticlimactic. They all sounded great and looked all gussied up for the big show but it was sorta boring. Why did SN boot Magni and Toby off so abruptly? It was "You are great we love you and bye bye." At least Dilana got a bit of love. Dave and Gilby showed they really like her but don't want to work all that closely with her. I think Lukas will do well with the band formerly known as Supernova for a year and then do great things solo.

It was no surprise that Magni was the first to go. He is so talented and Gilbey is right, he does seem to want to be more "in" the band than lead the band. I think Magni just loves making music.
Toby: Oh he looked surprised as did I.
The last two standing there. Hubby and I thought they were going to pick Dilana but after viewing the commercial (it suddenly made sense why they played Spin my Head to a Survivor commercial) and the surprised got ruined and then they said Lukas won. I was glad it was Lukas over Dilana. Lukas is better at writting songs and he's more entertaining and I did like how he handled being on the show. Besides, I would rather be stuck on a tour bus for a few months with Lukas than Dilooney (thanks MyO for that one).
What got me so sad and annoyed is that they only asked Dilana to appear with the house band. Personally I think Magni should become a house band member. He fits right in and seems to enjoy it. If anything he will go back to Iceland and continue to be the biggest Rocker there.
Now Toby, I feel sorry for. He looked a little lost when they let him go. I just hope his band does well.
I don't believe anything that the shows producers promised. The thought of guest judges like Macy Gray, Slash and Marty sounded so exciting for me. The show seemed so rushed in the end as if it was a thorn in Mark Burnett's side and he just wanted to get it over with. Where were the other rockers? The better they do in their careers the more credibilty the show gets. Look at Kelly Clarkson winning all those Grammys. It makes AI a force to be reckoned with.
However AI seems to me to be over produced and the contestants go on to become who ever the record companies want them to be. Rockstar shows Rockers with true talent that can play many instruments and write music. It's such a cool forum and they are just missing the opportunity. I all of a sudden feel like they use the contestants and then just toss them aside. MiG was so right when he said that when you don't win, you don't get record deals thrown at you left and right. What ever happened to Jordis??? Then our dear Marty who brought in all these viewers last year is just forgotten.
Just giving my opinion. So people support your rockers who ever they may be. Screw big record labels who don't support great talent. I for one will buy any CD that Toby, Magni, Storm or Ryan put out. Oh and how could I forget - DirtyPhil! His band sounds great.
On a brighter note, I thought Lukas sounded great and looked good with SN at the end of the show. I loved it that Magni played with them. Lukas can have such a good voice when he wants to and I'm sure Jason will make sure he opens up. I take a real cool dude to pull off lip gloss like that. Which reminds me, did anyone else see how TLee kissed Lukas? I wonder if tongue was invoved 'cause it was quite a smooch.

Lukas... I don't ever want to hear you sing "I'm not perfect"... YES YOU WERE!!!! I think so many people have a set attitude about Lukas that denied them from experiencing a truly great performer - IMO He doesn't just go out on stage and sing... he is IMMERSED in performance and as was stated earlier - he is always on the edge of losing control... but he's always in control!! From day one, I was on the edge of my seat... he was riveting, and captivating - and drove me flippin' insane!!!! Our Marty has the same affect.... no, he isn't the world's greatest singer.... just the world's greatest performer!! Toby is going to be awesome... and EVERYTHING worked out just the way it should have
