Wow...I can't believe they got yanked. Maybe if they get more success in Canada and Australia, they'll be put back on.

Supernova has to change their name because somebody else already has it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernova_(band)There is no way that they will be able to use INXS, for exactly the same reason. INXS may have been dropped by a US record label, but the band itself still exists. I'd be really surprised if they weren't picked up by a new label, especially considering that "Switch" sold 140,000 copies. The music business is cutthroat. Artists change labels all the time for a variety of reasons.

Maybe it was done because a lot of the american fans seem unable (unwilling) to accept the band with J.D. at the head -- I have three friends that refuse to acknowledge INXS without Mr. Hutchenson. (It's not like they booted the other man and stuffed J.D. up there, so I don't -get- the animosity towards the "revised" band at all!)
Ah well, sucks for Epic! And here's hoping that Marty & the boys evade the corporate axe.

The name thing for Supernova..... from what I have read, their two new singles were released under the artist name of "Rock Star Supernova". That takes care of the using "Supernova" as the name and actually cashes in even more on the Rock Star franchise. I think it is a very smart move so whoever advised them to do that, done good.

Just a corrections. INXS has sold over 360,000 albums in the USA. Close to 900,000 world wild, and it hasn't been released in Europe yet (due next month). Sony/Epic/BMG, have done nada, zero, zilch, nothing, to promote anyone from the Lovehammers, to INXS, from anyone in the USA. They used the Rockstar forum to do nothing with these bands! Nothing for The Lovehammers! Nothing for INXS! Nothing for Jordis Unga were is her CD already - she opening for Bo Bice of AI fame!!! say what??? Suzie McNeil is singing backup for Pink!!!! WTF! Mig JUST got a record deal !!!!! a year after the fact on a whole only label! maybe he did it right!Do you see something wrong with this pictures? ? Didn't the Lovehammers sale over 35,000 for the 1st. album the put out themselves as Ind band? that's the figures I've got. And under the Sony/epic/bmg Burnett label they sold 25,000 (correct me if I'm wrong pls). Does that make any sense? NO PROMO for these bands!Maybe, INXS will be better off with a new label so would the Lovehammers!

Hmmm interesting points underarock. It's hard to sit on the sidelines and think that our boys are getting mistreated. I'm not sure about the numbers, however I do know that there is now a growing LH's momentum. Things are a lot different now than they were two months ago. I hope this momentum can continue to grow.

I happen to work in the music biz, (as a admin. asst - nothing important) but I'm going to look up the figures on Monday and see what billboard, soundscan etc say.

That makes absolutely no sense. Unless of course it has to do with the the mismanaged crap that goes on i so many corporations where one division has no clue what another division is up to. They did absolutely nothing to promote them in any way. I am not a big fan of the "new" INXS but I certainly wanted them to do well.

Well I don't remember seeing any promotional stuff for any album for INXS - hey, RockStar was shown in the UK after everywhere else, if it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't know about the other contestants having albums released. Only heard one song for INXS last week, first one with JD as frontman - a slow one, afterlight or something??? Could be wrong on the name though.

Hmmm. I have no idea what to post because that link doesn't work anymore. Can someone fill us in? Was the show yanked or was INXS yanked from their label? I presume the first but have no idea.
As for promo, INXS's record got plenty of pr during it's release and prominent shelving/display in all stores in Asia. LH got nothing --it was only freaky fans bugging the local retailers that got the CD here. And only fans who get it publicity. It's what street teaming is all about.
As far as I know the CD still isn't available in Oz, which is criminal. The odd thing is that both INXS and Mark Burnett get a cut of MCLH sales, you'd think they would be happy to promote the hell out of it.

INXSessive blow
September 16, 2006 12:00
INXS has been dropped by its US record label in a major setback for the Australian band's comeback with new singer JD Fortune.
Epic Records, a subsidiary of industry giant Sony BMG, has pulled the pin on the veteran rockers after releasing their first post-Michael Hutchence album, Switch, in November last year.
The label's decision leaves the group effectively back at square one in its return to album-making and releasing new material in the US, which was initially given a huge leg-up by the selection of Canadian singer Fortune as the winner of last year's Rock Star: INXS contest.
It's understood INXS fell out favour as a result of personnel changes in the hierarchy at Sony BMG.
But a spokeswoman for Sony BMG Australia said the fact INXS was now left without a label in the US would not affect the backing of the band here.
"We're still working the album and the band and it won't change because of what happened over there,'' she said.
INXS have enjoyed a particularly successfuul comeback in both Fortune's homeland of Canada and Australia, where the new album is close to the double platinum mark of 140,000 sales.
The dropping is a double blow for INXS after it had to call off its European tour this week because of guitarist Tim Farriss' knee injury.
Farriss has to undergo surgery after twisting his leg and tearing ligaments during the band's Canberra stop on its Australian tour a fortnight ago.

Ok, this was me reading this article ---> www.invision.smileyville.net/smilies/doh (2).gif[/img]. I really am speechless. If Sony will let a band go that sold nearly 1,000,000 albums worldwide, and had videos in the Vh1 Top 20, etc., how will our guys fare?

I did a bit of checking at work today about all of this I found a bunch of interesting stuff. Lovehammer album - no INXS does not get a cut MBP DOES! The indi album that the boys put out years ago sold...... 50,000 COPIES!!!!! this album under Burnett has sold only 35,000 to date! that's it folks! 35,000! the record company says "Promotion is slow coming and fans in the states only do seem to have some interest in the band." As for releasing the album in Oz... apparently according to the record company "there really isn't a demand for it" what a bunch of As for INXS, get this! they have sold over 950,000 world wide, Switch hasn't been released in the UK and Europe yet, its due out next month. It has sold over 410,000 in the USA alone, over 280,000 in Canada, 180,000 in Australia and New Zealand and about another 80,000 in Asia, Philippines, India, Singapore, and Mumbai. The US section of Sony dropped them because............ wait this will shock you! Fans in the USA don't like the idea of a Canadian Singer, they wanted the Austrilian to win!!! Say What? I can understand that maybe wanting Marty to sing in INXS but Mig? ? that's the official notice I got when I asked for some fyi from a friend in Sony this morning! Also, my friend reminded me that apparently, Sony is still under investigation for its "Payola Scandal" from a few years back and as a result all the bands are not getting enough attention! What a bunch of
