So, some of you know I was practically Canadian for 9 years of my life when I grew up just south of the border in Plattsburgh, NY (it exists, I swear)....trust me, I understand why they play hockey up there...it's what kept me from going insane in the winter because Chicago winters don't hold a candle to the upstate NY ones....man, they are looooong.

Anyway, what the hell was I talking about?...oh yeah....I'm going to be heading to Ottowa for the weekend to do a reunion show with the big winner-Lukas Rossi, Phil Ritchie/Lennex, Josh Logan, Jenny Galt and possibly some others from the show. Apparently, the show was a much bigger deal in Canada, so people might actually recognize me when I walk around.....regardless, it'll be nice endcap to this whole experience, and it will be nice to see all these artists perform their own stuff....can't wait.

Man, another year gone by..... it honestly seems like it's been eons since the whole Rockstar thing happened. I don't remember much else , aside from a big breakup in my personal life and some very heartfelt messages from y'all, that happened in '06...

The show was kind of like a bizarre dream I woke up from... between the one where you're running but going nowhere and the one where you wake up and you're late for the final for the class you never went to all semester....sometimes I think to myself, wow, I drank beer with Tommy Lee and played with Jason Newsted's doggie....but as cool as that all was, it's over. I have realized that it will take the good ol' fashioned touring and, of course, great songs, the right contacts, and a little luck to have a sustaining career, and hopefully, the people who saw me on the show are reminded or pleasantly surprised when they see me again....

And, man we are doing our best to make the great songs part happen. Originally, I was going to combine the Never Comfortable EP with some new tracks and release a kind of "half-new" LP, but what we are working on is quite different sonically. As a result, I've been holing up with Andy, Lar and Garrett working on another 8-10 songs to release a full album's worth of stuff you haven't heard yet.

The new songs are ambitious...a couple have complex orchestral string arrangements and layered synth melodies which I think will impress the discerning critics, and there are some straight ahead rockers to balance the more heady material ( or at least, as straight ahead as I can make a song as I've been told I/we can be a bit quirky...whateva).

For those of you who miss the acoustic performances, I'll be entering the studio in early February to do an acoustic-only LP of some new songs and old favs with Robert Marshall, who engineered the Holding Mercury EP as another, separate EP or, hopefully, LP. I'm looking forward to releasing the multi-tracked beast, and the low-key arrangements out into the world. God knows I'm tired of looking at squiggly lines on a computer screen.

Anyway, I hope you all are still stopping in every now and then to see what's up...hopefully, things start moving quickly, and we pick up some steam in '07. Other good things to come, including the launch of our new Indie label, Level It Records, and hopefully lots of dates in mid-late '07 after the songs and the administrative B.S. is all out of the way....in the meantime, thanks so much for listening, and I hope to see all of you soon.
