Fans of the Lovehammers are calling themselves "Hammerheads." What are Marty fans calling themselves?
At one of my groups, we have tossed around a few ideas, one of the being "Treehuggers," because in an interview Marty said he loved hearing "Trees" being mentioned.
What do you guys think?

Treehuggers is great. I like it. Alternatively, Marty was known as Koolaid on one of the other forums. Maybe we could be Koolaiders.

The only problem I have with "Kool Aid" or "Kool Aid Drinkers" is that it's referring to mass suicide, right? As in a cult following. It just seems kind of tactless to me.

How about simply "Martyers"... Sounds like PARTY-ERS  In French (not that they're our best friends, but), it could sound like Perrier  Spelled similar to "Martyrs" (because we rose up against the J.D. maniacs trash-talkin' our boy) P.S. Not in love with the "Tree Huggers" because it has connotations of a left-wing activist group known for civil disobedience and unethical/illegal activities. If we went with something "tree" related, how about "Tree Shakers" instead? P.P.S. Not in love with Kool-Aid related names either b/c of the mass suicide reference, plus it was not used in a positive way referring to Marty fans on the boards really, either. Might not be the most positive of images. Just my thoughts though. May come up with other ideas to toss in the hat (not an icky on like SOMEONE wore all the time) once I think about it, okay? ;D |

I thought "treehuggers" were just environmentalists. What could be wrong about that?

What do you guys think? ~Ceeje[/quote] I'm bending towards Treehuggers for several reasons  That"s my name I live on the West Costal of Canada People call us Treehuggers here because we are very sensitive about the clear cutting of our natural resources I love the song Marty wrote (catchy little tune) I got a warm fuzzy feelin' when I heard Marty say "I like hearing the word Trees" in the interview. I think his nick name came from him drinking lots of the stuff. Not too excited about the name Koolaid  I am flexable though I'll attept to have some alternatives tomorrow, I'm a little slow at this hour or maybe not how about the Martinis'  Thank for the Idea of having our own name  |

"Tree huggers" is a derogatory term that is a catch-phrase used to slam environmentalists by associating them with the extreme actions of a small percentage of their overall group.

The word "Treehuggers" is only derrogatory if you allow it to be. Just my opinion.  What about "TreeLovers"? I really like the idea of having the word "Tree" in it somewhere. That song was the first time we really saw Marty. We saw his creative work completely. He was singing his song, his way. And it's just a fun song! LOL |

I personally like referring to myself as a "Marty Mistress" but, since that sounds sort of sexist, how about "Tree Dwellers"
