I wanted to let everyone know about this thread on RSINXS. This is a new low for JD fans!
Maybe we should all make a point of joining the INXS fan club and expressing OUR opinions of why they SHOULD tour with Marty!
Is there any depth these people won't go to in order to bash Marty and hurt his career? They must feel REEAALLL threatened by him. Grrrrr!
Here is the post:
"By longliverock Posts 133 Originally when I first heard that INXS wanted to talk to Marty about opening on the tour for them I thought it was a good idea. I will say that I really like Marty and thought it would be a great concert to see Marty open and see JD with INXS.
However I have changed my mind and no longer think it is a good idea to have Marty open. There is just too much JD & INXS bashing going on here by some Marty fans and I think it is best if Marty does not open. I hear form Marty fans here that INXS is washed up, no good, losers whatever and JD being bashed as well. I would hate to have the Marty fans go to the concert to just see Marty and then stay and either boo or throw stuff or belittle the band with JD fronting it or harass JD fans. That would be very unfortunate to INXS and JD and for the fans. So the best thing is for the Marty fans to stay away from an INXS concert and just go see Marty with the Lovehammers. That would be the best thing for everybody. I also think the band needs to be made aware of the situation here.
Don't get me wrong..I really like Marty and think he is very talented, but obviously INXS felt JD was the right choice and I support that choice."
Can you believe this crap?

It seems they do a lot of assuming about how we think, act and feel about everything from INXS to JD and God knows they will never understand how we feel about Marty and his extraordinary talent. I support INXS and JD. He was who the band chose and as Marty says "I fully respect their decision. It was their decision to make." I think they just want to stir the pot and maybe are a little afraid that Marty will definately be the bigger star in the long run. Long live Marty's career!!

I think they are scared ****less of Marty being more succesful than INXS.... LynYrd SkyNyrd opened for the Who in the US in 1975 and blew them offstage...

He has a huge fan base (let's face it, he was only in the bottom 3 ONCE) as opposed to JD who was in the bottom 3 a LOT more. The main reason I will buy a ticket is to see Marty.

There's nothing wrong with going to concerts to see the opening act. I rarely do it, but this time I will for sure. Furthermore, I seriously don't think they're going to care even if they're "made aware of the situation". Actually, WHAT situation? A little bit of bashing here and there is to be expected, but it's all in good fun.
It is what it is, man. So relax and enjoy the music.

Don't worry about the "bashers." IGNORE THEM. They are only throwing words to get a reaction - and you're giving them exactly what they want if you react. Don't stoop to their level.
JD is fronting INXS. It's done and over. Forget about JD and his fans. We're here to support Marty no matter what his next journey may be.

They basically got this idea from some Marty fans. There were Marty fans saying maybe INXS should open for the Lovehammers or the Lovehammers are too good to open for INXS. It is one of those what-comes-around-goes-around things. I am definitely not taking up for them. But, both sides have been pretty bad over there. I just stay mostly on the Marty "love" thread on msn now. I am all about Marty Love I am listening to the Sirius interviews right now. I put some tidbits of how its went under the section on here about Sirius. I stopped after about 40 minutes of the hour because it is from finale night. Everything is pretty much what has been repeated since then. They played TREES

It sounds like the INXS camp is afraid of being "blown off the stage." Something I haven't witnessed since @1973 when Blue Oyster Cult opened for some other band. The musical genres were completely different. When the Cult finished playing, the majority of the audience got up and left. An announcer came running out on to the stage and pleaded that the audience stay for the headliner -- but almost EVERYONE left the venue.
Let's face it. Marty and the Lovehammers are going to be much, much bigger than INXS. It would be pretty embarassing for JD and INXS to be "blown off the stage.".

Why would INXS care if tons of Marty fans buy tickets? They still get paid the same. And if INXS was smart, they would arrange for Marty to sing one or two songs with them. That way, Marty fans would hang around.
And honestly, any REAL Marty fans are not going to throw stuff at J.D. and INXS. We really should be thankful to INXS for showing Marty to the world AND for not not picking him. We should be thankful to J.D. for wanting the job so bad and doing whatever it was he did to get it.
Like Amy said, just ignore them. If INXS went back on their offer to Marty, it would be a big mistake, from the fans point of view and financially.

I also saw over on INXS website that in order to get first choice for tickets, you needed to sign up for INXS fan club.

I seriously don't think most Marty fans would just up and leave, I think most of us are pretty mature people. Not sure what the contract would spell out, but personally, If I was INXS and most everyone walked out after LH I would certainly reconsider NOT having them as my opening act and cancel their contract. This would only hurt LH and we would not get the better venues to see them in. IMO. Marty seems fine with this then so am I. Besides, after totally loosing my voice from screaming and tired from jumping to LH, it could be nice to have a little lullaby before going home. Hey! where's my avatar? AAhh there it is.

I totally agree with you, Ceeje and what a great idea to have Marty sing one or two songs with them!
INXS is probably loving this battle of words between the fans because it only puts them more into the spotlight even if it does have a negative overtone. Let's just be the better fans and not fuel the fire!

I'm hoping that Marty's fans will act with as much courtesy and respect as Marty did. If we are true fans of his, we will want to do what helps him and promotes him, and also be aware that a big group acting rudely would reflect on him, and he doesn't deserve that. I don't know anyone with more class than he has, and if those posters were mature enough to recognize that, they would know that we are a nice group who wants to support a super guy!
Their ticket sales would suffer if they pulled out of that, and would create a lot of ill will since the offer was made on the air. I personally will not bash J. D., and wouldn't be rude at the concert, but also won't buy a ticket unless the crazy conductor is there. I think a lot of other people would feel that way also.

I'm also a Clay Aiken fan from AI2. This is just like when Ruben won that show instead of Clay. Almost word for word oh Clay's people will walk out of the concert, they will boo Ruben and so forth. So what did the Clay fans do? We stayed for the whole concerts, very polite and supportive of the other performers. The one thing the Clay fans did do was to get together and wear a certain color shirt showing who we were really there for as fans without being disrespectful of the other performers. That is something we might do when it's time for the concerts. Figure out something all Marty fans can wear to let people know who we are really there to see.

I would laugh if like 80% of the audience was all in green or something. How embarrassing for INXS.

I don't like INXS and have never been a fan, so I would leave after the Hammers. I am a HUGE Jerry Cantrell fan (I wish I had been to the concert in Chicago where the Hammers opened up for him and Nickelback, and after Marty hung out with Cantrell - knowing Cantrell, the Blonde Team was up to NO GOOD... ) Whe came to SF and was opening for Nickelback, I just watched the Cantrell act and left. By leaving, I also saw the man and his guitar lot close up in the street behind the theatre!

This reminds me of when Clay and Kelly went on the Independent tour. There was a lot of friction between the fanbases as 80-90% of the fans were there to see Clay. Some fans talked of walking out or booing Kelly, and I hear some did, but that is really low class. I know I stood and applauded her too. I have enough respect for INXS for bringing Marty to my attention, I'll stay for them and JD too.

We ended up staying for Kelly's sets and were really surprised at how well she did. Even though I'll be going to these for Marty I also will stay for INXS. As you said, if it weren't for INXS honestly how many of us outside of Chicago would even know who Marty is?
