I am absolutely thrilled by these posts! sheowl, julianah and mrsbud... thank you for making my day! I love going through there and relating it to certain things we've thought or read. That part that sheowl found where he talked about performing really hit me about the discussions we've had about this on different threads. It is so cool to be able to read his thoughts and different points in his musical career. I read his blogs on the msn site and it really gave insight into his mind. He really is an articulate, intelligent man (not just a pretty face).

Awesome post! It's amazing how we all get to know Marty and the boys through anything and everything they write or speak! Yet they have a million fans out there they don't know. What an intense feeling that must be.

There is some frickin' hilarious stuff posted by the band in there.
Here's one of my faves:
Tuesday 04/24/2001 3:28:15pm Name: Bobby K E-Mail: Homepage Title: Homepage URL: Referred By: Location: Buffalo, NY Comments: Wow! I never knew anyone was paying attention to my hair. Ringo? I thought he had a mop top, bowl-style, in your eyes kind of cut. Do I? Maybe you're refering to a late 70's cut he may have had. Send me a picture "Tiffany", and we can compare. Maybe I look like that after I'm done sweating my balls off at a show. What are you going to comment on next, the hair on my palms? FYI - the rubberbands were in full force in Boston, and will be the majority of the summer, but I'm sure most of you can give 2 s**ts about me or my f***ing hair. For the small percentage that are interested, these are some other hair styles I have been considering: a mullet, Kojak, Billy's, Mr. T., Greg Brady ('73), slicked back (Ditka style), and Shirley Temple. The hair below my belt might be categorized as a mild version of "watchutalkinabout" Willis Jackson, circa 1980.
Peace and hair grease - which reminds me, Travolta had a pretty cool "do" in the Musical - add it to the list.
Later,
Cy Sperling

I don't spend much time over here, most of my time is on the Lovehammer board. I never read the old stuff, it's great, thanks.

Been reading the old LH board again and found a funny post from Marty. He's responding to questions about what the X in his name stands for:
Wednesday 01/29/2003 9:26:56pm Location: Listening to Lost Cause over and over Comments: Where did the "X" in Martin X come from?
There are a couple of reasons for my name.
1. In high school we were given student id's. The id's had a place for you first, middle and last name. My parents never gave me a middle name. They gave me my last name and chose my first so they left the middle name up to me. Pretty cool of them. I had no middle name so on my student id, I put an "X' in the spot where it would go. Everybody always asked about the "X" and I liked the mystery of it, so I wanted to make it a permanent part of my initials.
2. So I had the "X" but when people asked what it stood for I had no answer. When I was growing up, my good friend Jimb had a ghost in his house. Lots of freaky s*** happened at his house (shadows, strange noises, things falling out of the kitchen cabinets and exploding on the floor, seeing something out of the corner of your eye stuff). Jimb name the ghost Xavier and so when anything weird happened he would say it was just Xavier. I liked the name and later took it for my middle name.
Well, that's the story.
Laters,
Martin X
Lovehammers new cd drops February 18th at a record store near you!
Edited: to put some *** in a naughty word because this is not the 18+ board.

Julianah, this just blows my mind! Marty didn't have a middle name and then decided to name himself after a ghost!!! I, on the other hand, always hated my middle name and just kept it hidden from view. Never occurred to me to choose another I liked better. Course, no haunts running around my little town in Texas -- just cows. Can't think of any good cow names that I might like to adopt. Elsie? Bossie?
