Hey Joely - or anyone who might be interested - try your yoga practice with LH playing. It has taken my practice to that "razor's edge" where I can face all of the emotions that their music stirs in me. The songs that stir up angst, especially when my muscles are screaming "no - I just won't do that!", allow me to trace my own anger to it's source and stand with it, breathe into it, face to face if you will, and see if I still need to hold on to it or if it is something I can let go of. The songs that stir up love allow me to bask in the creative energy that the LH create as a whole, then I bask in the vast expanse of love in my own life, then I get a sense of the love that surrounds all the people that I know, then a sense of the love that surrounds all the people that I don't know, all the love in this universe that IS this universe and all it's parts. Then there's the songs that bring on the waterworks... you get the idea... ;D So since driving in the car isn't the safest place to have these moments of clarity, yoga practice seemed like a good place to really go deep with all of the gunk and good stuff that the Lovehammers have shaken loose.

You always do such lovely bumps P.
And where on earth have I been that I've missed all of this discussion? This thread has gone in another amazing new direction . . . I get it, I agree with it and I understand it completely.
Can I just suggest . . . that none of you apologize for sounding New Agey? I know exactly where you are coming from . . . you understand certain things and feel the need to explain them, even while you realize that some people might think you are just slightly over the top. But there is intelligence in what is being said and it's clearly grounded in reality . . . meaning that you are not just saying words you have heard somewhere, but that you are speaking from your own knowledge and experience. I think that many people here would understand the core of what you are talking about even if they may not yet understand the concepts.
If I go back to my initial reaction to I Alone . . . my thoughts were that some people might think it was a little over the top, even while I knew that I understood completely what he was doing and thought it was brilliant. The concepts of Yoga, Chakras, Energy, Astrology get the same types of reaction . . . some people may think they are a little over the top, but the truth is that they all stem from ancient wisdom that is being rediscovered, and we've explored them because we've recognized truth in them and realized that they led to a deeper understanding of ourselves. Watching Marty perform I Alone is like a meditation . . . he goes places with that song (and not only that song) that you FEEL and somehow find you can only explain spiritually. Which is exactly why this type of conversation happens here.
If we hadn't seen that "something" in Marty none of us would be here right now writing about it, or listening to each other. I've had to draw on much of my knowledge and experience . . . a lot of which is "over the top" . . . along with that of others, to explain exactly why he has affected me the way he has. Clearly he understands certain things . . . some things I already know . . . but still more that I can learn from watching him. Marty himself is still learning and discovering, and he has made it clear that he will share it once he understands it.

Marty tells his story and inspires us to tell ours. Ours may not be through music, and it may not be heard by thousands, but it is sacred. That is one of the many gifts I get from thinking about what he means to me. Joely I love this. This is exactly what he does for me too. Everyone has their unique . . . yes 'sacred' gift and Marty happens to know what his is. Rather than letting it knock around inside of him, he's taking it out and exploring it . . . and when you watch him you just can't HELP but want to do the same thing yourself. THAT is a big part of what he has to share, and it's an incredible gift. Not just to touch people but to spur them to action what they carry in themselves.
