The recent written article newly-referenced on this home page again compares Marty to Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop. Since I have now seen the Lovehammers live,I can see why there is the comparison. BUT, from my point of view,he has that same energy, raw charisma, etc., but he does it with so much MORE CLASS than the other two icons. That is saying alot.

I never saw Iggy live, but I've seen the Stones a few times ... what seems to separate Marty from most live performers is his ability to connect directly with his audience. Even in a large arena like Mohegan Sun, a big part of his show is about looking people directly in the eye and pulling them in. I've never seen anyone do it quite like that!

In my opinion...The comparisons of Marty to Mick Jagger and/or Iggy Pop are in his "animated" performance, NOT in looks (thank GOD!)! One could even say that Marty DOES have similarity to Kurt Cobain's looks, although less "rough around the edges".

I've seen both Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop live and I think the energy and movement on stage is what draws the comparison. Mick does nothing for me, but Iggy's amazing. Iggy Pop seriously connects with the audience the way that Marty does. I would have to say that the more I think about it, the more the comparison makes sense. Iggy blew my mind when I saw him at a small venue in 84' (I think that was the year). He put on a show that I remember like it was yesterday, bloody amazing. Marty is like that too. They talk to the audience, play kick ass music, and mesmerise the crowd. Marty kicks Iggy's butt in the looks department, but that is just a bonus, it doesn't change the music. Okay now I really need Lovehammers to come back to Seattle pronto.

I agree that Marty has the energy of Mick and I might add Steven Tyler. After I saw Aerosmith, I was exhausted from watching him on stage. I think Marty has him beat in the intensity department though. Marty has energy and intensity that just pulls you in and keeps you rockin'.
