"....why is our bond so uniquely different? " ...because you, Marty, are uniquely different. Beyond your gifts as a songwriter and performer, you've been given the opportunity to redefine what it means to be a rock star and we're all just here to help you do that. so true cherrytattoo... and because of Marty we have discovered a uniqueness in ourselves and redefined our own attitudes as to what a 'rockstar' really is. 'Our' rockstar...he looks into my eyes as he greets me in the line after the show and in that moment I am his and he loves me... then I walk away, smiling, happy, basking in the warmth and light he gave me...and it will stay with me for days, weeks...forever as I move away, he smiles and looks into the eyes of the next fan, and in that moment he is theirs and he loves them... One day I will feel his light shine on me, I will feel the warmth of his love as he smiles at me after a show...and I know it will stay with me forever he is style, he is grace and he loves each and everyone of us for who we are, just as we love him for who he is ... he is just as blown away by us as we are by him...

Like Rachael, what totally hooked me was Marty's magnetism. There was just something special, intense, intreguing...I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was there. Each week, watching RS I was drawn more and more towards his beautiful soul. The personality, talent, gentle nature and obvious good looks all contributed to the attraction. For me it was an attraction of the mind, of the being within, of someone that I was, for whatever reason, meant to grow to know. Of course, I didn't realize that at the time but over months it grew.
When I reflect back on how this journey began, I am amazed. So many aspects of my life have been affected, changed, improved and expanded as a result of "meeting" Mr.Marty Casey via my telelvision screen. I am happier, healthier and "younger" than I was a year and a half ago. And to think, none of it would have happened to this non-television viewer had my hubby not called me in to "Look at this. It's about INXS."
And the rest....is history.

His passionate intensity, the way he put every fiber of his being into his song delivery. to Texas- You and I think alike. Your answer to What about Marty is exactly what I would have said, with HIS EYES preceding it. Ummmm, those eyes I answered this question (or one like it before,) where? The reference I gave to my very favorite experience of Marty's intensity and everything else we've said here is the video on youtube from RSINXS, he sang "Creep", especially the last line of the song where his head is thrown back, mouth opened beyond wide. This just gives me the rush & the energy is so intense it goes right into my body yes, directly into me, sexy.

I remember thinking..... this poor man has just snapped and lost his mind onstage. I wonder if he intended to get that wrapped up in the song? (I too was flipping the channels and didn't normally even watch tv...must've been a very boring night for people.) He really looked insane! (This was I, Alone.) Then he just turned normal again. I realized at that moment that Marty could take us somewhere terrifying and bring us back to safety and normalcy again. And he made it look like such a simple task, like anyone could do it. Others may try, Marty...others may try...

It's really interesting that so many of us first saw him when he did "I Alone" ... must have been something in the air that night that drew us all to our TV sets.

I think there was something very special about that performance. Although it was not the 1st one I saw, I actually watched Rockstar INXS from the begining, it was the performance that changed everything. From the first night I was blown away by Marty and each week I could not wait to see what he would do next. But the night he performed 'I Alone' my fate was sealed. I was completely hypnotized by Marty that night, that was it for me. The next night when they announced he was in the bottom three my total devotion to him became obvious. Before that night I had never voted a single vote, after that night I voted every time as fast and as long as the Rockstar sight would allow me to. Sleep seemed of little importance in comparison to voting. I was on a mission, and if my votes meant anything he would never be in the bottom three again. It was that night that I became completely devoted to Marty.

I have not read all 4 pages of this thread...but noticed that some are mentioning when Marty sang 'I Alone' on RS. That was the first song I saw him sing on that show. OMG! I could not take my eyes away from the TV! I had not seen someone that intense in so long to grab my attention in that way. I told my husband 'That boy is going to GO somewhere!' I felt like not only was I watching a singer, but an actor. I felt like I was watching a drama or play unfold....could not wait to see what would happen next! Of course after that song I was hooked watching every week. I could not get over how consistent his performances were and how he held you to the tube! I saw Marty and the Lovehammers for the first time at Metro in November 2006. I was blown away!!!! I recently was at the Hammerjam and feel like it was a year ago. I could see them perform daily and it would not get old or boring. Thank you Marty and gang for bringing such joy/fun into my life!!!

Is it just me or do we all just really dig Marty Casey in here? I Alone was not my first Marty performance...he had me at With Arms Wide Open but I remember thinking, while I was watching I Alone...I am never getting over this guy...He was a total Rockstar. Looking back at it I can see classic Marty moves in it but they are somehow...amplified...intensified. Don't Change happened the next night and he was magnificent. What I loved about him was that he was always so immediate, so present...right there, really in it. You could feel him...I could feel him...from the tips of my toes to the top of my head...in my breath, in my blood, in my bones. Yes...extremely intense, all consuming, what the f*ck just happened...heat and wonder. He's quite good at it. Have y'all noticed?

I said earlier in my post you could feel his emotions, but this says it all so much better. I felt the exact same way when I would watch him perform. I couln't believe how it made me feel, so I would replay his performances (thank go for DVR) but not watch only listen to see if I still felt the intensity etc... with out actually seeing the performances and I feel in love with him even more. Just reading this thread makes me want to go back and watch his performances all over again.

Thanks ycrney, Wendy...hey Rachael. Thats what I love about these boards...its the security of knowing I am not alone in this! Well its the darndest thing but, Rockstar:INXS is being replayed here on a Sunday afternoon. From 1.00pm to 3.00pm the reality episode, the performance show and the elimination show all in one hit. Today was the I Alone episodes. It started with Mig's surprise visit from his wife. Then there was the songwriting clinic. Song choice meant that only two people could play their originals. At Suzie's suggestion all the names went in to a hat. Deanna and Mig got to do originals, Suzie cried. She begged Deanna and Mig to consider giving her the original. Deanna said no, Mig vacillated. Marty reminded him to get serious and fight for his song. JD did Cold as Ice...ok. Suzie did Start Me Up...nailed it. Ty did Proud Mary with Jordis, Suzie and Deanna on back up...nice show. Mig's original was adequate but uninspiring Deanna's was cool. I liked it. Jordis did Dream On...went for it...failed horribly. Poor baby. She never really recovered from that. Marty was as intense and incredible as I remembered. More so because I know him so much better now. Kirk Pengilly said "It was great but I don't quite see how it works for INXS." And that about sums it up...they didn't get it...couldn't see the future. The Save Suzie voting campaign put her at the top and Marty in the bottom three. Which was fantastic because it meant we got to see Marty do Don't Change. That was as holyf*ck as it was the first time I saw it. He was so strong and so confident...vital and alive in it. Singing it, bringing it, roaring into the mic with everything he had. "How do you feel singing INXS songs?" "Actually I feel pretty powerful." You know it baby.

Dave to Marty after Don't Change: "Watching you learn is kinda teaching us. It's pretty rad."
I haven't commented in this thread as there are poets among us who can say it all more eloquently than I ever could, but let me just say for me it was the contrast between off-stage quiet guy --always carefully worded and kind, and on-stage intense, riveting performer. Absolute joy and a privelege to watch on screen or in person.

Palari thank you so much for taking us thru that week again. Powerful says it perfectly. The pix and the feelings they bring back. Dave to Marty after Don't Change: "Watching you learn is kinda teaching us. It's pretty rad." Absolute joy and a privelege to watch on screen or in person. I'm not all that eloquent either, but it is so nice to know others share the same feelings that I have. Chk you are right about the contrast. His performance abilities and talent are amazing while, the off-stage man is....very different...every bit as, if not more amazing. Sharon
