Just wondering what everyone thought of the other new song on the site, "Watch You Go." If you haven't heard it, go to martycasey.org/Trax.html . I know we've only go like 30 seconds to listen to, but here's what I thought. Because I love to write, it's usually the lyrics of the song that have the biggest impression on me. I'm still trying to piece it together/The higher I climb, the harder I fall. Very cool. I can't wait to hear the rest of the lyrics. What I've heard so far seem very easy to relate to. And, they're very catchy. I know when I hear the full song, I'm going to be going around singing, "Watch you, watch you go!" LOL The song itself feels both very current and kind of retro at the same time. How is this possible?!? I could really hear this song on a movie soundtrack. I've thought the same thing about some Lh songs, but this one really feels like it. I'm practically already writing a story around that 30 second clip! lol Well, what did you all think?

Although "I See Stars" struck me more immediately, "Watch You Go" has been rolling around in my head the past couple of days. There is that kind of sweet, poppy sounding "woohoowoohoo" then the more intense "watch you go, I watch you, watch you." I love Marty's voice on that part. I'm already going around singing it! I can't wait to hear more!

How odd is it that I woke up with this song in my head this morning? Like first thing!

Hearing Marty's voice singing that song gives me goose bumps . He sounds so good and I love the rhythm/lyrics. A very different sound compared to their other songs and I'm loving what I'm hearing. I too, can hear that song in a movie soundtrack.

I love the new songs. although I confess I miss the "rougher" sound of the earlier LH ... these are definitely much more pop.

Thanks for listening to a slice of the new tracks. These are pieces of two of the many new songs that have been completed or are works in progress. They are always works in progress till officially released cause I never stop tweaking till I get them out officially.
There are harder edged songs and big production ballads in the works. It seems that all of our albums have a wide range of songs. I still feel the need to scream ever once in awhile so there is always a rager or two in the mix.
What has felt great over the past year is challenging myself and writing in different styles then I have in the past. "I See Stars" was the first song I ever wrote on the piano. It brings out different ideas and emotions. Every song created is really just an experiment. You never know what poeple are gonna connect with. The Riddle happened when I was just messing around and passing time waiting for the van to pick me up for a roadtrip to Atlanta and boom there it was. A fun ditty. I will try to post more stuff soon.
Did everyone check out Merry Christmas (All Year Long)? I tried to do a true rock n roll Christmas song. I haven't heard a fresh Christmas song in awhile that rocked. The production is so big and boomy. I initally had bells and stuff in the bridge but I thought it would be a bit more timeless if we kept a punk element to it. The producer of the track, Marti Frederickson, did a nice job bringing the song to life.
I really love that the band is willing to take chances and do things that other bands won't. Why not release a Christmas song and be a part of the great vibe in the air this time of year. It comes around every year and we always have a unique song to perform between Thanksgiving and New Years. We used to do "Aulde Lang Signe" but it was alwyas so damn hard to spell when printing out the set lists. And yes, we still do write out our set lists with a sharpie alot of the time. Something old school and cool when it's done like that.
We final screened the DVD today and it turned out way better than I had imagined. There are some really really funny parts. Also, there are some parts that shocked me. You definitely get a sharp glimpse of yourself when you see backstage footage of your antics and the way you come off when being filmed. It's an eye opener for sure. At points in the show I kinda feel like "Who is that guy? Is that me?" I hope you like it.
Who's coming to NYE show?

I just bought and listened to the full MC/AYL and I love it! You are so right about keeping that "edge" to it= personally I LOVE when bands put out some kind of Xmas or holiday tune. It's so fun!! So glad Lovehammers did it this year. I think Watch You Go sounds like it will be very intense, and I really like what I have heard. Can't wait for more. How very exciting for you to have written your first "piano" tune~ that must have been an interesting process for you as well. I See Stars definitely has a very different feel than we are used to hearing from you. But as you already said, there are always a variety of different sounds on your albums, so it's no surprise. Sounds like it will be very romantic actually. Glad to see you around here Marty- can't make it to NYE show....too far away right now. See you when you get to Florida! Hope you and the guys have the best holidays ever!!

I love Merry Christmas (all year long)...you described it perfectly as a true rock Christmas song! I like Watch you Go and I See Star from what I've heard. I love your harder edge though..the screaming etc - Straight as an Arrow is my favorite song. And I love that LH albums do have a mixture of songs on them..not just one *sound*. Can't wait to get the new DVD

A yuletide song like this has been a long time coming.......I'm totally impressed with it. That is what IS going to set LH apart and DOES set LH apart from the crowd of talent out there........I think diversity in music will get you everywhere. Can't wait to see it bro..........and the new video......... We wish we could get back to Chicago........we love the city and had a real good time at Hammerjam. Not in the cards just now I'm afraid so get your hiney back to T.O. real soon.......you guys can come to our house for dinner...........

Hey Marty, well, I certainly cannot choose between Watch You Go and I See Stars -- am dying to hear the full-length version of both. (okay gotta admit there is something about I See Stars that is already mesmerizing). In the meantime, it's not even December 1 and everyone in the house has Merry Christmas (AYE) stuck in their heads! Best of all, my daughter gave one of your CDs to the guitar-playing cool kid in school last week and he came up to her yesterday and told her he LOVED IT OMG THAT CD IS AMAZING -- so yay, another fan far away in HK! Will miss the NYE show (somehow no one would forgive me for 4 trips to the US in one year for LH shows!) but will pop in the DVD and pretend I'm there. ~chk

Marty,
Thanks for logging in and informing us all!! I love the new stuff and cannot wait to hear longer versions of the others. I esp am liking "I See Stars". I would love to see you sit and play piano with this song at a concert. My little 3 year old is already singing the chorus to the Christmas tune. Ha!
You are blessed with such amazing talent, I cannot wait to see it all come through in the years to come!! Bring it on!!!

Its so true that we each connect to them in different ways. I was shocked just now to read how Marty describes the Riddle as a fun ditty...cause I find it to be full of existential angst ... how off base was I? ;D ... but really we can all find different ways to connect with them... hence their magic... very postmodern Thanks for listening to a slice of the new tracks.
