I agree with you NancyBBE! Mr. Casey: The life of a simple blog and the written word...Marty just keep writing what you want and feel. The blogs are from my understanding a writer's random thoughts and expressions. You are just being you. Negative comments will come and go. It is the price we all pay for sharing our thoughts...like I am sure that I am going to hear it for even writing this... ..sorry. I know from personal experience that you will never please everyone in this world. Live your life for yourself and do what makes you happy. The creativity that flows within your soul, should never be stopped. Nor, should you have to change anything to please other's if it takes away from who you really are. I enjoy your writing. It is always interesting to read another persons thoughts. I may not understand everything you express in you blog's...but, I am not privileged with the honor of knowing you personally. Those idea's and thoughts are yours. I simply read. Marty, We are your loyal fans...but, we do not have a right to make any demands on you as a individual. Your life is your's to live. We will support the band and your music. We will support you as an individual the best that we can, as as much as you allow us to do. FANS: Wow! What the heck is going on?...Look, I am sorry that any of you are feeling so upset at whatever has or hasn't been done. I am sure that your feeling and emotions have great merit and should be heard. We just really can't be fighting among st ourselves. This is not going to do anyone any justice in the end. I am not a long time fan, but I am someone who has seen enough on these and other boards to know how great all of you are. So dedicated and passionate...all of you have stood by these guys from the very start. True brilliance is your gift of love for the music. When you stand firmly together you can move the world. Please don't let what ever is going on, undermined all that you have accomplished for the band and for everyone that is here. Every single one of you is important to this band. Never forget that. This is a family...we will have our differences. It is just part of life. Just please do not take anything personal. We need to focus on what is important. Standing together and pushing forward...dispite and in light of everything thrown before us. The band is making huge strides, and everything will keep changing. We just have to be a strong unit of supporters and stand firmly behind our band. If we don't then everything that we have all done...is for nothing. Really...you are all amazing!!! Forget the last few days...the pain...the hurt...move on...we need to be a family. Dysfunctional and all...just like every family...just like my real family. With Great Sincerity To All. Star

And you know what, Star? Many of us have been through so much in our lives, we totally "get it" when it comes to what's truly important in life. Others haven't, and they don't "get it." This place needs to feel safe for members, or it won't continue to work the magic it does for so many. Thank you for expressing your thoughts. You are one of the treasures here at the dot org. Maybe some who have drifted away have done so because they weren't here for the same things we are. That's their choice to make.

Hello Paula from Freezing-Cold Chicago I guess on the Bright Side, Marty seems to have 2 Distinct kinds of Committed Fans posting in his Blog: 1 - Those willing to Express what what they feel they are Missing, rather than Jump Ship 2 - Those willing to Defend him to the Extreme I hope they Realize they are Both on the Same Side We're freezing today too! Brrrrrrrr!!!!!! I agree with you that both types of fans may be actually on the same side, wanting success for the band. The part that infuriated me was the tactic of tearing Marty down: like he was drunk while writing his blog, or that he had no right to express boredom, or be delayed on a flight back to Chicago, those were the parts that set me off. Why make assumptions, and unfairly tear down a person, to make a point? Name-calling, assuming to know why someone would take any particular action, etc.... How do we know, maybe he had to be away until the day of the awards? How do we know the frame of mind he was in when he wrote the blog? When I read it, I actually thought he was referring to a job he used to have that bored him, not his present mood... Oh well. I'm done adding fuel to the fire. I've said what I meant to, over there and here: I'd just prefer civility. I'd prefer that people assume the best, not the worst, from people. I'm all about the and the and the I hope you are one of the ones that stay, p12...

You know, I thought this was an adorable blog entry so I was shocked when I started reading the comments, and they were not only negative ("self indulgent"), but also seemed to personally attack (implying that Marty was drunk)! I can handle the differing opinions, like the "self indulgent", and even enjoy debating that (which I did challenge in my own reply)--they are, after all, opinions, and everyone is entitled to their own. But it all got so nasty--fans calling each other names, e.g. "old biddies" ahem!! ouch!!, that one hurt!! j/j! Anyway, I got to thinking about all of this, and realized maybe there is a way to reframe it (as many of you have been trying to do). We've all been pretty used to our own fairly small and cozy circle of friends here. Everybody loves the band with about the same amount of devotion, and problems have been pretty small and easily solved. As the band gets better-known (which is what we all want), this kind of thing will be happening more often! We can't control who comes into the "family". to the world of success!! We'll go crazy if we try to defend them and ourselves each time this happens. We have to develop a tougher hide, I think, and just stick together! When is that next show?? Geez, I need a fix!!! Linda

I have been a fan since I first learned of Marty (and discovered the LH) during Rockstar.... I agree with you (and also Nancy BBE). In my opinion, attacking someone's character with assumptions of being drunk etc. is unconscionable . (Personally, if that kind of way of stating one's opinion is supposed to be "helpful"--please, I would rather that they not ever "help" me...). I also took it that he was referring to a job he used to have and noting how fast time seems to be going now--I get that totally--I have had jobs that bored me and time went slow (and time doing what I loved went fast)--I loved hearing his take on life. It was refreshing and interesting to me. [ I also opened my 20 year high school reunion and fleetingly thought .as I opened it....has it been 10 years already...? And I have a few ghost stories I could send Marty's way.... ] I also would like to see people post their names vs. be anonymous--if others are supposed to be "big enough" to take the criticism, then be big enough to say who you are. My personal sensing is that Marty and LH are about to make a very big leap forward in the near future ---as far as they desire to go...all 4 of their stars shine brightly....I am amazed at what they have accomplished and continue to do...It appears to me in the last video etc. that Marty and all the guys go out of their way to make sure those who support them are recognized and profusely thanked.... My hubby and I met all 4 at the second concert we went to in Madison, WI--They were just great to us both and made us feel like the only people in the room for the time we talked to them--I found them extremely gracious and thankful to fans. And, the fans at this concert were great too. I hope and pray Marty & Lovehammers will be rockin' all my life as they are the # 1 band for me, but if they chose to never do another thing, they have given me far more than I could hope for in their music and heart and soul and great memories of fantastic concerts. ( I have loved everything they have done and the new acoustic song Driving Blind clip is just fabulous...can't wait to buy the full song...) THANK YOU MARTY; THANK YOU LOVEHAMMERS.
