I am thinking about going to the movies tomorrow. Anyone want to recommend a movie out currently to go see?

Don't know if it's in the theaters still, but don't miss "Crash". EXCELLENT!

"Crash" is excellent, yes. I saw "Broken Flowers" last week and loved it. I recommend both!

Crash was good... Did you see Just Like Heaven? That was a cute movie. I love Reese Witherspoon anyway, but it was really good. Depends on what you're in the mood for...

I hella want to see Corpse Bride. I'm in awe of Tim Burton. I loved Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. It was nothing like the original, but I think that was the point....

Hi every1,
Has anyone seen SERENITY ? It is about to open in Australia and I wondered if it was worth going to see. I am a big Sci Fi fan!
Thanks in advance.

Well, I came here to endorse Crash, because it was excellent! That would be a Netflix rental though.
As for current flicks, the last one I saw was Batman Again or whatever. (with Christian Bale) I don't get to the theatres much. Bugger.

I haven't been since the summer -- had to catch all the kid flicks with my son. Batman Begins is worth the discount movie price though if you can find it. If you want a new movie, maybe think of Flightplan. While I won't be seeing it, it sounds intelligent -- a locked-room murder type movie. I'll wait for Beowulf and Grendel to hit the theaters after its run at the film festivals. I also intend to catch Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter. So the movies I want won't be out for a while yet.... But have fun anyway. I'm sure there is something worth seeing out there (maybe March of the Penguins )

If you're in the mood for a serious drama, the Constant Gardener was really good and Ralph Fiennes is very pretty.
Saw Flight Plan, it was not bad - a few holes and far fetched at times, but if you go with it it's good.

Thanks for all the movie recommendations. Maybe I will get to see some of these some day soon. I guess you figured out by now I did NOT get to go to the movies this weekend. A certain fan site message board launch sorta got in the way...
I do really want to see Corpse Bride. I like Tim Burton a lot! And Johnny Depp! So sounds like a match made in heaven. I had heard/read all kinds of great things about Bill Murray in Broken Flowers too and wanted to see that...but I am not sure it is even still playing around here.
The last really good movie I saw in a theater was back in April when I went to see Sin City. Really a cool, interesting, and visually thrilling film. And no it is not super violent...It is more like meta-violent I think. In a ironic sorta exagerrated way.

I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan. I haven't seen Corpse Bride yet but looking forward to it, whenever I do get the chance. Anybody seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? He was so kooky in it.
I do recommend "Just Like Heaven." Saw it last weekend. If you're in the mood for a romantic-comedy, it's a sure bet. It's such a feel good movie. For sure you'll come out of the theaters smiling.

Helen, Serenity should be good as the series it was based on 'Firefly" was excellent. Have you seen that? I hope to see Serenity this weekend. Let me know if you see it before me. ang (a sci-fi fan too from Brisbane)

I couldn't help but chuckle under my breath at the dark humor and swear under my breath at the Yellow Bastard. I'm really looking forward to Frank Miller's 300 also. The movie is filming in Montreal this fall. It tells the story of the Battle of Thermopylae where 300 Spartans held their own against hundreds of thousands of Persians. I've heard that there will be a ton of FX to keep the comic/graphic art feel to it.

ooh, Corpse Bride is WICKED!!! Definately one of the best TB movies IMO!!!! Another good sit is Red Eye! Cillian Murphy is so creepy in it! He is a great actor just love him to bits. Just like Heaven was pretty good too. Not as good as Sweet Home Alabama but I enjoyed it alot. Doesn;t hurt that Mark Ruffalo is easy on the eyes! Wedding Crashers - if still out in your area is a laugh riot but you have to have a very open mind. Hubby wants to see 40 Year Old Virgin so may check that out before it's gone. I agree with Harry Potter - Think that's my next most anticipated flick! I also hear that Viggo Mortensens new movie is worth seeing. I think it's called A History of Violence - Have to check that out as well.

Glad I saw all your comments on Corpse Bride...was planning to go see it tomorrow, now I want to see it even more. I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Oompa Loompa cracks me up! For some mild entertainment, I'd go and see Dukes of Hazard.
And yes! Am waiting for Harry Potter's Goblet of Fire...am a fan of Ralph Fiennes. Probably going to re-read the 4th book for the 10th time!

Viggo has a new one out--A History of Violence--supposed to be gorey. I don't usually go for scarey movies, but it's Viggo.

Hey I went to see Corpse Bride today. It's deliciously dark and mildly macabre...it has great music...talk about Disney subversion. Yet at the same time, it's poignant and touching.
Btw I saw the Harry Potter tralier....the merpeople look cool...can't wait for the Nov release...
