I got the "March of The Penguins" for the holidays. It is one of the most mesmerizing documentaries I have ever seen.

Thanks Lalalaamz for the info. I'll keep a lookout for it. Meanwhile, I've seen Narnia - it's a pretty long movie - more than 2 hours excluding the pre-movie trailers. I think the Snow Queen was good and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan was spot on - he sounds so regal. They could've speeded up the beginning and maybe brought it down to under 2 hours. Middle and ending had good pace though. Those of you planning to watch it, stay on for the credit roll - that's all I'll say.

Nice, a couple of my friends were a little disappointed by it, but I'll check it out anyway

I've not read this whole thread, so forgive me if this has been addressed. Has anyone seen the new Harry Potter movie?

Amy, here's gaia's review. I haven't seen it yet. Hi radioclash, Yes, I saw it last Thurs. I though Ralph Fiennes was good as Voldemort - he wasn't all fire and brimstone but even better, was quietly sinister and there was something snake like in the way he pronounces his words. I thought that was quite a nice touch (hope I wasn't imagining it). I liked the way the tri-wizard tournament was fleshed out, especially the part in the black lake. It was kind of eerie. I think the part concerning how Harry solved the problem of going under water was also changed slightly (don't want to give away too much here). Must say I shed a few tears at the end when Harry brought back Cedric Diggory's body and bawled over him. Could really feel Harry's anguish. Oh yah, the Weasley twins were hilarious! On the whole, I must say that I preferred the book just a little bit more. I guess cos the director was trying to cram everything into 1 movie so I get the feeling that all were just highlights and very vignette style. The book had build up and all the episodes sort of cumulated into that horrific maze/cemetry scene. I also think that I sort of missed the snarling animosity between Snape and Harry. That angle wasn't played up in this movie. Favourites like Hagrid were not given much air time. As for Mad Eye Moody - I felt that we were not given much time to buy into his "looking out for Harry" facade so that the betrayal in the end is not as shocking. The actress chosen as the headmistress of Beauxbaton, the female giantess, didn't fit the mental image I had when I read the book. I had thought she would be darker, a little more buxom and wear a bun. To be fair to the director, he had much to work on and so little screen time to play with. I did feel a small thrill to be able to see the stuff I read about being fleshed out in the movie and when it fit my mental picture, wow! The final word: go see it, it is good for most parts. Maybe we can compare notes after you've seen it. I'm already looking forward to the next movie instalment.

Thanks DG for helping out with the quote. I was too lazy to figure out how to do it. Was gonna refer Amy to the pages where we had the discussion. Amy, you might also want to see Radioclash's and Ayesa86's comments a few pages earlier.

just had a thought pertaining to that. Since technically, the "Alastor Moody" (am I the only one who finds the nickname annoying? lol) in GoF was Crouch in disguise, can we still pray that they'll use a different actor for Alastor in OotP?

Ayesa86, I'm not sure about that...unless the actor wants out of the series. I mean they've shown us the real Moody in the suitcase so they should use the same actor.
I'm off to see Wallace and Gromit today. Will let you know how that goes.

Just seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith last night, and it was really good, certain parts reminded me of my husband and I, lol!! The ending sucked. Also I saw Emily Rose and that movie to this day has still made me feel "weird". Freaked me out bad, lol. Can't stand the 3:00 hour

If I see it first I'll be glad to post a review.... has anyone read the book? If not, I highly recommend it. I am certain that it is far superior to the movie!

Bumping to recommend that everyone go see Curious George. It's sweet, funny, sooo cute, and I love that it is not all Disney-fied. There is hope for the simple things in life after all...
