After 9 and a half years, and hair all one length and down to my ass (naturally curly) I am chopping it off completely for a second "In person" job interview at Safeco Insurance. It pays 32,000 per year. 12,000 more than I make right now. The interview is at 10 am on Monday morning. I am just wondering how short to cut it. My hair would totally do this style I think and I sort of like the syle too....my hair is brunette with red tones though. ORRRRRRRRR, do I go even shorter? LOL I wont look like a rocker anymore!! I guess it can always grow back. If I didnt wash and condition it daily I would have dreads within 4 days. RATS NETS!! and I am SICK of taking care of the shit. 4 hours to dry it, getting in my food, my butt crack (mass ewwwwwwww), the car door, pulled out in the mosh pit, etc.

Rockbeast - are we still having this conversation? If you are really taking the plunge now . . . . I say go wild and wavy!!! That pic is pretty much what I was talking about a month ago. Totally acceptable in today's work environment, and it still rocks . . .

UGhhhh! I just wrote a nice message to ya and got disconnected before I could send it. This is the shorter version. Love the wild wavy look! Take picture with you to show what you want! Communication is important with your hairdresser! Any great hairdresser will listen to you and then be honest with you. They should take into consideration the fact youve had your long hair for many years and are nervous about getting it cut. They should do a slightly longer version of the picture you show them, see how you like it and then decide if you want to go a little shorter or not. You can always take more off but you cant put more on! Youll look great! Relax! Good luck with the job interview!! Keep us posted!

Rockbeast, Love the wild wavy look! Make sure you put your hair in trusted hand's and also take a picture with you (If it's not to late) and be SPECIFIC about what you want. Any great hairdresser will listen to you and be honest with you but dont let them talk you into anything your not comfortable with. He or she should start with an even longer version of the cut you like above so you can get an idea of what it feels and looks like before you decide whether or not how short to go . She can always take more off but you cant put more on! RELAX! It will be alright! Good luck with the interview!
(I saw one of those makeover shows: "Stuck in the 8o's.", and their was a man in his early fifties who lost his job after 30 years, so he was looking for employment and needed to go on job interviews. He also had long curly hair like yours that he always kept in a pony tail! (Also needed to clean up the beard). They gave him a haircut just like the 1st pic. you posted and boy did he look great!!! Wow what a difference! He looked younger and so coool! He loved it.
Keep us updated

Hi Rock Beast....
So, you are taking the big plunge.... Whatever works!
Come back over and post a before and after pic if you can....
Why do I keep hearing in my head a song memory from my past???
Crosby Stills Nash & Young -
Almost Cut My Hair
Almost cut my hair It happened just the other day It's gettin kinda long I coulda said it wasn't in my way But I didn't and I wonder why I feel like letting my freak flag fly Cause I feel like I owe it to someone
Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas And I'm not feeling up to par It increases my paranoia Like looking at my mirror and seeing a police car But I'm not giving in an inch to fear Cause I missed myself this year I feel like I owe it to someone
When I finally get myself together I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather And I find a place inside to laugh Separate the wheat from the chaff I feel like I owe it to someone

Hello rockbeast, Since, you do have naturally curly hair and trying to secure a new job ($$$)... imo.. I think that you should go with the short/short wavy look. I guess it would be the J. Timberlake look...your hair can always grow back out to achieve that other, wild and wavy, look later on. I'd cut my hair this past summer, it was down to my waist, and donated my hair to Locks of Love. So don't forget to do that... Good luck on your haircut...

I think you should go for the JT cut in the second pic. If you're going short, you should go all the way. I admire your bravery. My hair's just past my waist. It's been really long since I was 20. Fortunately, I'm a woman and a graphic designer, so I can get away with wearing my hair the way I want. Presenting a conservative image isn't a prerequisite for success in my field. Having to compromise on your appearance in order to fit a corporate image sucks. Earning $12K more will take the sting off it a bit, though, I suspect. All the best. P.S. You'll always be a rocker, regardless of the length of your hair.

Juli- Thanks alot for those kind words. My hair wouldnt do the first picture, due to the trauma of the cut and how long it was, its sort of doing and did its own thing, so I had to go shorter than that first pic. I do like it though and I feel lighter than ever! LOL Drumroll- Back- The women at Hairmasters were like WOW, what a transformation and blah, blah blah and they took a before and after picture. I donated the 18 inch pony tail to the Locks of Love.
