I have a plan for me not to pig out royally next week and every frickin' day after up through new years. I dont want to look like the goodyear blimp come January with the two LH shows I am going to. Sooooooooo I put this picture on my fridge. To help me gain control and not bloat out and get all fat during the upcoming holidays with all the junk, crap and high carb/high calorie and fattening stuff that everyone partakes in. I wanna look at least somewhat good for the LH's shows in January. CONTROL, CONTROL. CONTROL...(I am trying to lose at LEAST 10 more lbs before January 19th)

Hey there Rockbeast...you are really looking hot...Keep up the good work. I have heard from several people that turkey is actually quite good for ya, maybe not the cool whip on the pumpkin pies, but turkey is good, real good for ya. I have kept my old driver's license for years for inspiration, but I think I should of kept it on the frig also, cause it's lost, and so is my waistline. Oh well, I'm happy. See ya later...Nancy...

Love the outfit and the shades too. You've gotta allow yourself just a few pig outs during the holidays, though. I think I'd cry if I had to turn down second helpings of stuffing and gravy. We're fortunate here in Canada because Thanksgiving is in early October. We can pig out and then have a few months to recover before the Xmas season hits. In the US, the two biggest eating holidays are so close together. No wonder so many people need to go on diets and join gyms in the New Year. P.S. One of my incentives for not gaining weight over the Xmas season is this -- a friend is renting a hot tub for his New Year's Eve party. He's having them set it up in his backyard (which will probably be covered in snow). Knowing I'm going to be in public in a bikini in January might keep me from eating an entire box of chocolates on Xmas Day. (Maybe.)

Rockbeast....I will help you, if you help me stay clean. I got 35 pounds of baby fat that I havent been able to lose in over 5 years. I started another diet 2 weeks ago and have lost 7 pounds. If you would like we can exchange meal lists and excercise diaries. My Mom, who lost 75 pounds a couple years ago due to adult onset diabeties swears that this helped her through...and I could use the help. Wanna partner up with me and any and all other mc.org'ers trying to lose the extra poundage?
if not, thats cool too...maybe we can make this a board effort? We can post em here, as long as we are honest.
Now, I eat like an ant anyway, cause I have crohn's disease, so my diet may seem already bad, but I have to get to excercising, which is something I lothe to do, but my metabolism is gone, and if I eat a carrot and a slice of bologna a day, I gain weight without exercising. Is anybody up for a group effort??
P.S. Rockbeast, you are an inspiration!!!!!

I tried never to get pictures of my fat gut and butt...
I just gave away my fat clothes finally. If you hold on to them, you are just saying its ok to gain back the weight.
If you lived closer, I would be glad to personally train you. Adding just a light cardio workout with some light handheld weights would really tone and shape ya.

ok ok...I promise to try to excercise...I hates it hates it!!!!! And I have no time, but I will do it. I am up for it coach.....
I have to have low impact though, so walking and five pound weights is about it..but I will do it. If you have diet tips too, since you know a little about crohn's that would be great too. But that part I think I have down pretty well, its just the metabolism I have to get up to snuff. Awesome baaaaaaaaybeeeeeeee.

sheowl and rockbeast, I'm with you both. >:(HATE TO EXERCISE but have been on the friggin treadmill and hitting weights 3x a week for about a month and a half. So far about 8 pounds down and the pants fit better! I also have a problem with high-impact cause of my MS --if I walk/run more than 30 minutes, I lose my balance, which is not a pretty sight. Still, the motivation to be healthier has become very strong so this year it's a smaller T-giving feast than ususal, lots of emphasis on the turkey and cranberries, less on pies (boohoo). The trick will be Christmas. God help me, I loves the christmas cookies..... I'll drink a toast to you both on Thursday! Keep up the good work!

I am gonna put your picture on my fridge too... but so I can lose control! Putting up that picture is a great way to remind yourself visually about what is IMPORTANT....looking and feeling good... ;D I have a very good feeling you will reach our goal... Thanks for starting this thread...I too work hard at staying in "control"....and eating right is key...but, exercise is sooooooooo important...I work out 6 days a week...an hour of cardio all 6 days...and weight training/pilates training alternating days...it is what keeps me feeling great and keeps weight at bay... I used to be one of those that didn't make time for exercise...but nothing is more important to me these days...I have come to love my workouts...especially when MC is singing away in my headphones...he makes a great personal trainer...very motivational...

And you have your own heath challenges too....but kudos to you for making exercise a part of your life....keep it up! 8 lbs turns into 10 lbs...12 lbs lost...etc... This is a tough time of year...no doubt! Food is a big part of the holidays...cooking it, baking it, giving it ...and eating it! It is about good choices...my plate will have turkey, veggies and a smidgen of stuffing...a very small piece of pumpkin pie. I don't want rockbeast glaring back at me on my fridge...if I overeat!!! Actually, I will be using his Sammy Hagar pic on my fridge as a food deterrent...should do it .... I will be staying on track with exercise...and fitting holiday stuff around my workouts during the holiday season....it will keep me from over eating and getting out of control.... ;D Hope all here enjoy Thanksgiving....with those that matter most...cheers! p.s I have lost 35 lbs myself over this past year...so...I UNDERSTAND completely what you are all going thru...truly...I don't ever want it back...thank you very much...

I am a personal trainer and have been for lots of years. I'll be happy to pass on tips and tricks to help you guys along the way. I have clients from 24-year old salsa team leaders to a 98-year old sweetheart. I have clients with Parkinson's, dementia, diabetes, gross obesity and some are actually healthy.
General tips: Form is THE most important factor in using weights. So go lighter and make sure you do it right. No need to do 3 sets of fifteen every time. Vary it. Vary the speed... Do one set of 100.. mix it up.
Cardio: Frankly stay off the elliptical trainers if you have any type of knee or hip problems. It is an unstable environment and puts the pelvic girdle into a rocking stress situation. (Rocking stress situations should only be induced by Mr. Marty Casey.)
Do what you like for cardio. Don't like to run. Don't. Walk, dance, swim - just move.
**Rockbeast - you hunka, hunka burning love - keep up the good work.
*****sheowl - specific information for you.
Sedentary patients with inactive or mildly active Crohn's disease are good to go with A thrice-weekly, 12-wk walking program. Maintain a logbook of performance, discuss any issues with your doctor. Try to walk for 30 minutes each session. Take your little one with you and see the sights. You do not have to power walk, swing your arms maniacally or hop, skip, and jump. Just walk. You can have an increase of zinc urine output so do keep in touch with your doctor.
Anyway, as I tell my clients, have fun with it. I hate the whole mentality of "I have to workout" , "I have to exercise". Who'd want to do it? It sounds horrible.
People who are "changing their bodies in a new and healthy way" do better with music so crank up your Lovehammer and Marty Casey CD's and enjoy yourself.
Last point: "no pain, no gain" is nonsense. If you are in pain, you hurt yourself. Go for the quiver - that twitchy feeling. You'll be doing yourself the most good.
Holiday dinner time - use a smaller plate - just that simple - you can cut 600 calories of your meal alone and not miss out on a thing.
Hope this helps.

Great timing Rockbeast. Thanks for the reminder to keep exercising. With the colder weather here in Indiana I was beginning to slow down...and hitting the comfort food. It will be a lot easier to keep motivated with all of you.

aw thanks trees! typodi- my personal trainer Lauren set up the program for me where we work out for one hour two to three times per week. I actually just came off 35 hour long sessions since April and now work out myself. I started out with the lightest weights imaginable, 5 to 8 lbs, it was very embarassing, but that is how bad off I was. I am now up to Shoulders and Triceps (20lbs dumbells), Chest (30lb dumbells) and Biceps (25lb dumbells. My routine is- Abs/Core workout (around 10-12 mins), 20-25 mins of weight lifting/training (2 muscle groups at a session), 20 minutes of HARD cardio (My trainer tells me that if I am not in sheer agony/sweating/out of breath and in need of water five minutes into it, then I am not getting anything out of it, then I do around 10 minutes of stretching. So I do about and hour when I workout. I am going to be so sore tomorrow. AND I AM TALKING ABOUT A GOOD SORENESS. I did get a slight pinched nerve in my Lat last week and so I am taking it easy with that large muscle for a while. Know your body, know your limits....what you said about go for the quiver, the twichy feeling, when you know you have given that muscle group a "good workout" and then you will be fine! I "should" be a personal trainer myself as I love helping others and being a coach! But thank you for your advice in this thread, I might have questions for you, now that my training sessions have expired and I cannot afford to renew with my trainer. Cheers, RB

Great timing Rockbeast. Thanks for the reminder to keep exercising. With the colder weather here in Indiana I was beginning to slow down...and hitting the comfort food. It will be a lot easier to keep motivated with all of you. I bought some nuts today for the holiday and some reduced fat triscuits and wheat thins, I am going to have it all in moderation with a fat free lo carb ranch/onion dip thing I am making along with fresh baby carrots and celery. I keep track of all my food I consume since I joined this website that helps with all of this stuff, including workout logs and food logs. www.myfitnesspal.com/index.phpGood luck to everyone!!!! My trainer wants a picture of me when I was 300 lbs and I just cannot find one, that was 12 years ago and I lost 50 of it and then just hung on to the other 50 until I re-joined the gym in March and then hired the trainer in April. It was the best 1,800 I ever spent.

Okay, just ret'd from gym and thanks to you guys I am as determined as ever to get my act together. Thanks for personal training advice. I, in fact, hired a PT when I started and he taught me proper form, how to use machines, how to set goals, etc. He's far too expensive to continue with but now I know what to do and how to do it, so it's up to me. (DAMN! No excuses...) Anywya, recommend hiring a trainer -- or finding a workout buddy. If you make an appointment or it's costing you $, you'll take it seriously!
