no thanksgiving here except among us Americans. It's quite odd cause the weather is warm, school is in session, there are no football games and T'giving dinner is really at dinnertime not tht late afternoon thing most of us do in the States. I was just in Japan two weeks ago for my bro's wedding -- it's a weird and wonderful place. Do you think you'll ever go back?

I have wanted to go back since I was very young, but doubt I will since I could never afford it. IF I had a place to stay, I might consider it.
Oh and we eat T-Giving at night too, not this 12 pm to 3:00 pm crap.
Cheers

I hope you get some good stuff, RB -- I am with you in over-eating and regrettting it spirit. Now, back to our old friend the treamill for which I find This Town and countless other LH tunes to be brilliant.... Now go get L'Strange from cdbaby.com NO EXCUSES!

Does anyone know where the thread is on this board where I mentioned that I was not familiar with L'Strange?

Hi gang! Ya'll are an inspiration. I'm not over weight but at the top end of my 'desired weight' catagory. I recently lost 10 pounds and I'll admit, I am totally lazy. I've found that exercising around the house is easy and although slower than real workouts, does help. I do leg exercises while watching TV and leg lifts in the kitchen and with a little Marty on, vaccuming becomes a real work out! Walking is great too! I actually lost this weight AFTER I quit the diet pills. I've taken them for years and finally they bother my stomach so much anymore, I just quit them. I already eat like a bird so I KNOW the metabolism thing. It's a matter of building it back up. Good luck to everyone through the next 2 upcoming holidays. I also plan to quit smoking next month. I want to say 'I'm done' BEFORE New Years.

good luck to you. and it sounds like you have quite the sytem down for working out from home
I am exhausted now as I just got back from a serious workout at the gym, and worked out for 75 minutes straight.

Thanks Rockbeast. I travel ALL of the time. I'm usually on the road 10 months out of the year. I've hit 7 states this year before I got sick and had to take some time off. I am, therefore, not wanting to go to a gym. I do them in hotels and I hate it. I prefer privacy. I just draw back on the callestetics I learned in basics. It just feels good to drop a few pounds. I tried quitting smoking earlier this year but I was sooooo stressed that it was not going to work. I have my date set for 12/1 and my patches already. I really want to do this but after 20 years.....damn.

I really want to do this but after 20 years.....damn. Hey teakay. Good luck on quitting smoking. Have you tried the patch before? I tried cutting back, cold turkey and Zyban. None of them worked for me (Zyban made me crazy). The patch worked amazingly well for me, though. (I am smoking now, but I quit for 2.5 years -- that's a record for me.) My best friend and I both went on the patch at the same time. I was shocked at how well it worked. It got rid of the cravings and the usual withdrawal nastiness. Both my friend and I felt really miserable and weepy on the third day, but that was the only negative side effect. When I quit cold turkey I was miserable and weepy all the time. My main challenge when on the patch was being fidgety so I taught myself to knit to keep my hands busy. Anyway, I hope the patch works as well for you as it did for me. Well, actually I hope it works better (i.e. that you remain a non-smoker for the rest of your life).

My friend quit recently using nicotine gum. I quit cold turkey. And slipped a few times after at clubs after I had a few drinks. Now I think I am finally free of the addiction, its all mental addiction now. Soon though you wont be able to smoke inside ANY establishment in Washington State. I am very happy about that, I hate my clothes smelling like smoke!! GROSS Someone told me Marty smokes.

Yeah I am making smaller portions myself. Oh well. Denise- Thank you!! I dont think we have chatted here before. Smaller portions is definitely the way to go for me. Last year my co-workers were all on the Low-Carb diet. They lost their weight faster than I did. I lost 25 pounds over about 6 months. However, I'm the only one that has been able to keep it off. They all got tired of dieting and gained most of it back. Basically, I think it is simple. You have to burn more than you take in. Some tips that helped me: 1. Use a salad plate for your meals instead of a dinner plate. 2. Read the label for what a portion size should be. If it says one portion is 1/2 cup or 6 crackers or whatever, that is what I would eat. 3. Use a coffee cup instead of a bowl so that if a label says that a portion is 1/2 cup (ice cream for example..yum), you fill that cup half way...and enjoy. After reading so many of these posts, I really think I need to get a treadmill for Christmas....hopefully with the new version of Trees on my Ipod course. Denise Modified to change "bowel" to "bowl"....what a big difference a little "e" makes.

He does. I have quite a few photos of Marty smoking. Could you post one? Here's one: www.martycasey.org/mansionjam2.htmI'd like to add a disclaimer. I don't want any young and impressionable people to see this photo and think that smoking is cool because Marty does it. Marty just IS cool and he would be even COOLER if he DIDN'T smoke.
