You know, what a crappy thing to do though, phone interview me, then in person interview me and then I sent a "thank you" letter and they did not have the common courtesy to even send me a "we have chosen a candidate who best suits this position" and a "thank you for your time" THAT is what hurts the most. I had to find out by constantly viewing the companys "Careers" section at their website. So, in lieu of my not getting the job, I bought myself a xmas present on ebay today. Y'all know I have been DYING for a Kenneth Cole original black leather "Reaction" jacket. But the prices of them are OUTRAGEOUS. I had my eye on this one for about a week, and just decided to go for it! The seller is from N. Carolina!! I have several friends in that state! cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8353772409&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:12The pictures are not that great of the jacket, but I have been talking with the seller and he said he was sorry about the not very clear pictures of it.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job, Rockbeast. They obviously suck, though, if they can't even be bothered to send a PFO letter. That's the least they could have done. When I interview people, I always call them personally and thank them for coming in and let them know the position has been filled. It's just the decent thing to do. I'm sure there's a better job for you out there somewhere. I was really bummed last year at this time because I didn't get a job I was really gunning for. Two months later, though, I got my current job. It pays better and I love it. The job I didn't get would have involved me devoting about 10% of my time to doing intra-oral photography of dental surgery (eck!). I'm so thankful I didn't get it, because if I had I never would have found my current position. Love the Xmas prezzie you bought for yourself. You deserve it and you'll look smokin' in it. (I'm addicted to eBay. I buy almost all of my clothes there.)

Rockbeast - that's really too bad about the job. But I think the others are right, there may be something better waiting for you and you just have to get out there and get it. You have just as much right to the good stuff as anyone else - and you're doing all the right things to get it. Keep on

Thanks everyone. I know, I think this was meant to be, just like how my past relationships have ended.
There is always another...

Well...better jobs ahead! Adn, hey, you got a killer jacket out of it, right!

RB, I'm so sorry about the job not working out! I know that you must be very bummed. But they sound like giant asses to not even send a letter or give you a call. I'm a big believer in fate. Something better will come along for you and you'll be exactly where you need to be in life. And karma will be a bitch for them. Good luck on that jacket you are wanting!

OH, rockbeast. I am sorry that you didn't get the job. But I agree with the rest, this just means there is something better for you out there. The position isn't ready for you to step into just yet and you need to be free to take it when it happens.
Love that jacket! I can't wait to see photos!
Glad you have friends in Raleigh, NC! hee hee

Their LOSS will be my GAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the Safeco job right? Trust me you are not missing much I talk to those people in my dealings and they are not happy campers. The whole insurance game kind of sucks unless your a hot shot agent...Plus I've gone thru a lot of job hunting in the past two years and practically ALL companies are jacka*&!'s who never get back to you. I went thru 3 interviews, a background check AND drug test then nothing...until I finally called a week later and got a "oh didn't we call you? Sorry went to someone else"... and no I didn't flunk my drug test Anyway trust me you probably want something a little more creative and less stifling than that environment!

Just sending a hug your way Rockbeast. I know it was very disappointing. You know the old saying to be careful what you wish for because you might get it. I think you lucked out on this one and will find the right job someday. Denise

Yep, I heard this today from someone I work with. Her brother worked there for 8 years and said it was a "nightmare" and he aged 20 years.... Some places are VERY judgemental. I worked for this place once and this guy came in for an interview and he looked like Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray. The women in the office were swooning over this guy and he didnt get the job because he was dressed too professional and was good looking.

The women in the office were swooning over this guy and he didnt get the job because he was dressed too professional and was good looking. Hiring is so subjective. I have to admit that I once hired someone based on his looks. A female co-worker and I were interviewing web designers. We got it narrowed down to two guys who were equally qualified and had the same level of experience. One guy was just average-looking and the other guy was this gorgeous, gorgeous man from Ankarra. We went with the Turkish god. His accent just made us weak in the knees. I also have to admit that I suspect I'm shallow enough that had the equally-qualified candidates been women, we probably would have hired the less attractive one. It's just impossible to try to figure out why someone didn't hire you. Do you remind them of an ex-boyfriend? Did another candidate remind them of a favourite cousin? Were they bullied by someone with your name when they were in grade school? No matter how ethical an interviewer may try to be, their own personal experiences are going to influence the decision. It really ISN'T about you, it's about THEM.

Juliana, you tart! Hiring a man based on his good lucks...LOL! But you are quite brave to admit it. Let's face it...it helps to be attractive in many circumstances...just a fact. But like you mentioned, it can also be a hindrance. I'm a very regular looking person (no beauty queen for sure), but I do get along really well with men, just have an instant rapport usually...anytime I've been interviewed by men, I've always had great interviews and have gotten the job.
I've also had to hire people, and it is so hard to be completely objective. When people are equally qualified and you're down to just a couple, its so difficult to decide. I just have to believe its all fate and works itself out in the end. I can't think of any other logical explanations. The whole job-hunting thing just plain sucks anyway!
