I'm hoping you'll all answer this question............ If you were to audition for either an Idol show or a Rockstar show............what would be the very first song you would sing to get you to the next stage? Now I realise not everyone would want to even try out but hypthetically.....what song do you think would be best suited to your voice and would get you to the next stage in the audition process? I think it would be cool to see some of the answers......... Thanks for indulging me...... ;D

Um...I sang "Need You Tonight" once (karaoke, yes, but singning nevertheless) and did pretty good - considering I don't sing and hate my voice. So...uh...yeah...I'd porbably go with "Need You Tonight" cause I know it and know I don't suck at it.

Let's see - my best karaoke songs - White Rabbit - would definitely be my first choice Cher - Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves or Dark Lady Cover of the Rolling Stone Unfortunately, though folks say I do pretty well at Karaoke - I know there are times when I don't quite hit the right key - so I'm pretty careful what songs I choose. I just do it for Fun!! CJ Oregon Coast

Oh, Stil, indulging you is what we love to do most (almost).
Well, an audition would be an ideal Street Teaming opportunity, so I'd have to go with Trees or Clouds by LH. --- They have the advantage of being songs I know well and can sing in tune.
what? Not LH? sheesh. Um, Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day -- few notes!

That's a tricky question, I dont' know really for sure what I'd sing but probably I'd sing 'Closing Time' by semisonic, or 'If You Could Only See' by Tonic. I dont honestly know if I'd have the guts to try out for a show like that, but it's an interesting thing to think about!

I would probably start out singing "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla. Don't think I would make it past the first round though .

Tough choice.
Maybe Creep by Radiohead. I also like I Can't Make You Love Me.

Let me preface my response by saying that I am strictly a shower singer and will only sing karaoke while wearing my beer goggles. With that said... I would have to try out with a medley so I could show off my " range ". How about "The One I Love" by R.E.M., "Break On Through" by The Doors and finish it off with something a little more feminine ... "Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks or "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" by K.T. Tunstall....maybe?

Given the fact that I can't sing (the person beside me in grade school choir asked to be moved, I'm so bad), I'd be going in for fun, how about "these are a few of my favorite things" (you know, whiskers on kittens, all that good stuff).
If I could sing, I'd love to sing paint it black - I love that song!

Well........you certainly need to stay within your vocal range......if you've discovered what octave you sing in.........some can cover a wide range of octaves........2 or more is very impressive..........
I, for instance have a deep voice.....or so I'm told........so it is a stretch for me to sing lh songs.......too high for me and it strains my vocal chords.......I can belt out a couple but Marty is very gifted given his range and ability to 'scream' so much without damaging his voice.........and he has volume.......that is also a challenge to develop..........but the right vocal excercises can certainly help...........some come by it naturally....and other must work hard........
So choosing the right song becomes slightly narrowed down if you know your range and what band you want to do a cover of.

Riddle is my tune and I would have to have LH back me up so we could to the little Cowboy jig at the end. And yes I would be wearing my cowgirl hat and speared cowgirl boots. Hummmm maybe I'd go with the Stilettos and "Spread my Wings" Yeeee Hawwww

Oh, Stiletto, you know we love to indulge you.
There's no WAY baby I'd be auditioning, so throwing that to the wind,
I have been working on "The Riddle" for my guitar class (acoustic) and I finally have it in a key I can sing, ha ha ha! So that one. I was listening to Everclear's cover of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" yesterday and really getting into it. So maybe that, too. Today's "Song of the Day" (besides Lovehammers!) is the iTunes free download of the week "Wound Up" by Office and I really like it "let's go to the beach tonight/with a bottle of wine."
Finally, a little nostalgia/comedy (cause I love a laugh too) would be the "La La La Song" from Sesame Street - I love the Bert line " la la la LINOLEUM!" LOL!
Have a great day all!

It depends... a cappella or with a full band?
I'd sing "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi with a full band, and for a cappella, I'd do Matchbox Twenty's 3am. Both these bands are fantastic (and are two of my favorites)... "Wanted" is such a classic and 3am a cappella is very melodic.
