Sorry that I didn't get back here yesterday to thank everyone... I was a bit busy on and off (like today). Please allow me to do so now. I want to sincerely offer my thanks to all of you for being there for my Father as well as my entire family and myself. I can not ever express to you what a trying time this has all been over the course of a month. Right now my Father still has a long road to recovery before him, but with your continued thoughts and prayers, I have all the faith that he will continue to do that. Thank you all for the support... hugs... and love through all of this. Your all part of my family... and I hope you realize how much I love all of you too . He ate some broth and jello today, and has held it down Hopefully, he will not have to use the feeding tube in his side if he continues to hold down his food. The portable IV line in his hand, has to stay in for another week. The pick line in his shoulder is gone. He looks thin... and I am afraid to lift him when he needs to get off the bed. But, he is able to walk with more strength and his color is brighter now. It's just good to have him home.

Oh... and here is a funny story that I posted on the LH board yesterday regarding my day. It's one that shows that a woman can do whatever she sets her mind to, if she is stubborn and determined... My Mom had asked that my brother remove the large sofa from the living room, the day that my Dad was released from the hospital. They had to bring in the hospital bed, and for all intent and purposes the living room was the best place to have my Dad stay well he is still being cared for by my Mom. His med's can be stored in the frig, we have a bathroom, and he doesn't have to climb the stairs to get to the upper level of the house. Not to mention his big screen is there...LOL Anyway, the sofa was taking up too much room. We have another one that was newer, and it converts into a bed anyway. The large wooden sofa was old... and my Mom couldn't stand it, just that she figured it was there so leave it. However, with the new arrangement... space was a factor and it was time to move the sofa out to the trash. Issue: My Brother didn't want to move it out, since he said it was too heavy. Apparently when they moved it into the place it took 3 men and the use of a dolly. So, it never was moved out and yesterday my Mom was annoyed at the lack of space in the area. However, My Brother still refused to move it out with even the help of one of our neighbors, stating that two men were not enough. (*Note: My Brother is in amazing shape. He teaches Muy Thai Kick Boxing and trains mixed martial arts fighters for UFC fights. I do yoga and palate's... and am only 104 lbs and 5 feet.) Well my Mom still wanted it out of the house. Her shoulder is bad and she can't lift it right now without a lot of pain, so she didn't know how to get it out of the house at all or who else to ask. The trash bins for the condo are about a block away in distance if you avoid the stairs and have to go through the larger gate that leads all the way around the complex, through the parking lot and into the underground garage. So, me being me, decided to take matters into my own hands. My Mom needed something done and that is all I needed to know. I told her not to worry about a dolly or asking for help, and I would get it to the trash bins. And that is just what I did. I shoved the huge blasted thing out of the house, down the stairs, through the gate, all the way to the trash bin, and lifted it up and into the bin in a matter of minutes. Really, I have no idea how I managed to lift it, but I guess shear determination kicked in and I wasn't going to quit until I did what i told her I would. My poor Mom was freaked that I was going to hurt myself, since that thing out weighed me by a ton. I didn't worry. Yes, I am small (I give her that)... but, I am really freakishly strong for my size. My thighs just burned from having to stay so low when pushing for that long in a running pace. I needed speed to build momentum, since I had to keep the back lifted slightly off the floor, and if I slowed it would be harder to push. I just needed her to guide the front. The trash company came that day to pick up the bin and took the sofa sticking out of it. My Mom is happy she has space in the living area once more, and I am not even sore. My brother's pride on the other hand probably will not be the same after his 'little sister' got the huge sofa out without a single big strong man to help her...LMFAO

Take care [/IMG]
Thank you for the positive thoughts for my Dad. The nurse is with him right now, so I am upstairs. LOL... Well, no one was around to help my Mom and my Brother refused. I had to try to help her if I knew I possibly could. The shortest way would have been to take the deep and very narrow stairwell, but that was risky if I couldn't hold the weight going down the steps of the sofa and the sofa may not have fit. The way I went was longer, but had the less risky staircase (wider and fewer steps) and I knew that was the original entrance that they had moved it through. Granted I didn't have the dolly or the' man power' they had previously, but I had the determination to finish what I started. All I wanted to do was help my Mom and that was my goal... so, I did it. I was just happy to prove that I could help... and that me being a petite woman didn't mean I was helpless...

Thanks LOL My dad is getting better and stronger everyday. The antibiotic line will stay in one more week, but he is on regular food now in tiny portions. His spirits are also a world better now that he is home. Hopefully the will now be able to get rid of the feeding tube in his side. They left it in just in case he had problems still eating, but he doesn't need to be feed from there anymore. Just his meds are given at the site.

Star that is fantastic news about your dad. Your recap about your brother and the sofa cracked me up. It reminded me of my parents deciding to move a very heavy sleeper sofa down the hallway of their home only to have it pop open on them and somehow pin them to the walls of the hallway. They thought that they would never get out of the situation. They joked that someday someone would find a sofa and 2 skeletons pinned in their hallway. Needless to say they found the strength as you did and got the job done. Great story. Den.

Please remember my friend Jason, who is dealing with a recurrence of cancer of the brain. I haven't seen him in years. He beat the cancer eight years ago, but it's back and it's a different kind. It's pressing on the part of his brain that affects his balance (I think) and it is making him nauseous, so he's not taking his meds. He's also had some strokes. His mom has quit work and moved him in with her because he no longer needs to be alone.
Pray for LMC's poppop. They have found a couple of tumors.
Pray for my mom's co-worker and her granddaughter, Emma, they found a tumor on her kitty. They did a biopsy, but they're pretty sure it's cancer.
Last but not least, please pray for a former student of mine who is having some problems. She went to the doctor and didn't get a good report. More tests are being scheduled, and she is fearing the worst.
