I know we don't get political on this board, and I 'm sure that's for good reason. However, I have just finished filling out my absentee ballott for the mid-term elections, coming September 12, and I would like to encourage all US citizens to please do likewise and vote. If you like how things are, you know what to do and if you don't --well, there's something you can do about that, too.
I live in China, where it doesn't matter what your politics or opinions are --things are decided for you. Even in Hong Kong, which has the free-est economy in the world, people are not given the right to vote for their leaders. I know that such a right is not to be taken for granted.
GO VOTE!!!!

I'm not going to go off on one of my infamous Nancy speeches here. But VOTING is more than just our inherent rights, it's a prevelege that we Americans hold, and should respect. How can a person bitch about: 1. gas prices 2. the WAR 3. Homeland Security 4. Bad road conditions 5. Social Security cuts 6. Medical cost.....The lists here could go on and on, and we as Americans can CHANGE the way these order of bitches come about in our lives, by doing one thing...And that is to VOTE.... GO VOTE....later all Nancy....

I'll add to this by saying that most of us here are women and not too long ago women were not allowed to vote. We owe it to our great great great grandmothers to take part in having a say in what our country is doing.

The federal election is coming up! Please vote. I just sealed my absentee ballot and I'm mailing it off tomorrow. Elections are important. I was four days too young to vote last election, so I worked to get other people registered. I registered a woman born in the early 1900s who had never been registered before in her life. Please please please vote!

walked my absentee ballot to the US Consulate yesterday, they told me I needed to make an appointment to get in. And that since it was 12:10 I couldn't get in anyway until 1:30. I went back at 1:30 and they again said I need an appointment. I said, No I don't and insisted they liet me in to post my ballot. They finally comply, take my cell phone and iPod, search my bag and let me go to US Citizen services area. I go to reception and say,"Where can I post my ballots?" She says, "It's better if you get a Fed Ex envelope from Window #1 and post it yourself." I look at her, knowing that there is no earthly reason for me to Fed Ex my ballot when I am officially on US soil. I go to window #1 and wait for the man to pause in his busy underlining-things task and ask him where I can post my ballot. He says "here." and takes it. Ok not an exciting story, but I am a determined voter. I hope you guys will be, too.
