We found out what killed my sister Susan on New Year's Day. The coroner released her death certificate. It was "acute spontaneous dissection of the right coronary artery". This means that her coronary artery tore. This is the same thing that killed comedian John Ritter a few years ago. It happened very quickly, and there was nothing that could have been done to save her at that point. I guess we can be thankful that she didn't suffer, the way my sister Carol did from the cancer. They also indicated that they believe she had undetected coronary artery disease that contributed to what happened. Arterial disease is no longer just a disease of the elderly. Now it's even being found in school-age kids. Everyone should get checked for this. I am calling my doctor tomorrow. Have them check your blood for C-reactive protein, that can be an indicator for arterial disease or other inflammatory diseases. I miss my sisters so much. I wish I could just talk to them some more. Everyone remember to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, because you just never know....

Nancy,
I am so sorry to hear of your loses. I know how difficult losing the one's you love. I have had many losses within my family. It is never easy.
I thank you for having the strength and courage to post the information regarding your sister's passing. I know that it is not an easy subject to discuss. However, your concern for the safety and well being of other's is very great. I can only tell you, that I admire you for this act of courage. Moreover, thank you for caring. I will be sure to ask that my doctor does check for this protein.
My thoughts and prayers still go out to you and all your family. May the good Lord bless you.
Sincerely,
Star

Nancy,
Thank you for sharing that information. It is really important that everyone understand that this is no longer an elderly disease. The fast food and processed food that kids and families are consuming in large quantities is causing early diabetes and coronary heart disease and very clogged arteries. Folks do need to get checked on a regualr basis.
It is brave and kind of you to share with others this very private and heartbeaking tragedy. Hopefully, others will learn from this.
Take care, Boston

Nancy, I also want to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Also, thank you for the heads up on everyone taking control of our own health. Family history is a good start, but our environment, eating habits and physical activity is so different from our ancestors. We all need to be proactive.
Big hug Den

Nancy,
I'm very sorry for your loss. I know that's hardly a comfort after losing so much, but I'm thinking of you.

Dear Nancy,
Thank you for filling us in, and encouraging everyone to be vigilant about their health. So many of us are afraid to step up and ask questions that we need to ask. I used to be that way with my rheumatologist, but I'm not that way (at least as much) anymore. We have to look out for ourselves in this world.
I'm so terribly sorry to hear about both of your losses. I know what you mean about wanting to just talk to them again. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace.
