I know what I'd like to happen but I'm sure it's not going to be all plain sailing for him. I'm sure somewhere it was leaked what would happen, but don't want to say in case it was just a rumour.

Well, we know someone is going to die, and I hope it's not Harry, but at the same time I find it to be highly likely. If it's not him, it will be someone close to him that the readers care very much about I fear. That could happen and then he could kill "he who must not be named". I love that old Voldemort made the cover btw.
But what do I know...I've never even made it through the first book. I own them all...but I haven't had a chance to really sit down and give them proper attention.

I've read all the books so far, numerous times, but haven't even thought about this one, or what may happen. The UK Cover is great!
I can go in either one of two ways here:
The sickly sweet ending where Harry slays Voldemort, declares his undying love for Ginny, becomes an Auror and eventually Headmaster of Hogwarts,
or - and which goes right in line with the type of endings I like,
in a final duel to the death, Harry and Voldemort die simultaneously while doing the Adava Kadavra spell, Hermione slaps Ron and tells him he's a frikkin idiot (in the tone of Napoleon Dynamite) and declares her love for Hagrid, Neville gets it on with Luna Lovegood
or, maybe I've had too many bourbon's this arvo...

It's always been a rumor that Harry will die in the last installment. Everyone is trying to guess what JKR will do. I strongly suspect that she'll kill off Harry in the end so that no one will be able write more books about him....she wants this series to end. Gah!

I know. That's what I've heard all along. It's interesting that she was able to plot the ending when she began the story. I can't do that. I keep revising my stuff over and over trying to figure out what's the right thing to do for the sake of the characters. *Yes, I'm a bit weird when it comes to my writing...*

Wait a tic!? Who are you having me getting it on with?....LOL I'm too old for those characters. I actually don't remember who Neville was. My knowledge is strictly from the movies.
eta: my memory sucks so I just don't remember a lot of characters from the movies.

It's almost time! Who's going to be waiting in line at midnight in a couple of weeks? Besides me, of course?

It's almost time! Who's going to be waiting in line at midnight in a couple of weeks? Besides me, of course? We are! We've got 3 books on order and my husband has to have it on cd's so he can listen in on the way to work,... he can't wait to read it!

I wonder if it's too late to pre-order one through B&N so it could be at their store at midnight...I just realized Harry comes out the day after the Hairspray movie. The B&N in Jonesboro is having a midnight party and I'm thinking about making a night of it!

It should still be ok to pre-order Cheza I know over here on play.com you can still order it, there's rumours of yet another postal strike though, so I'll go to the shops!

I was just perusing the various book sites to see who has the best deal. I think for me to get a copy in my hands on the day it comes out, my best bet may be to hit the nearby Wal-Mart. I can get there faster than the other places, but I did see Books-A-Million's got a gimmick. They're selling "Express Delivery" vouchers prior to midnight when it is put on sale. If you have one of these at 12:01 you can exchange it for your copy and avoid the lines. You have to purchase them at a B-A-M shop.
So, who here is going to a midnight costume party? The Barnes & Noble in Jonesboro is having one. I thought about going, but I don't know if I will or not.

Got my copies (one for me and one for my library at school) around 12:30 a.m. I ran into three of my students at Wal-Mart getting their copies as well as numerous adults I knew.
I'm going to ask a really dumb question here. Would I be totally confused if I read seven without reading the others? I have them all, but I haven't read them (I try and keep getting pulled away or someone checks them out of my collection) and I fear if I wait to read seven someone will spoil the ending for me before I get to read it.
The early comers stole all of the jelly bracelets though. I wish I had gotten some of those. I got a poster and bookmarks though...so that will have to do.

I'm done with it! Loved it, every single word!
Cheza-it might ruin the endings of the others if you don't read them first. It all gets tied up in the last one.

I already know about some of the other endings - since I teach and have read book reports on the various other books, but I may just have to get a hold of my copies (which the first three books are boxed up at school) and see if I can push through them before school starts....otherwise someone will spoil this one for me. I just know it.
