I enjoy listening to all types of music, but the songs that really move me enough to play them over and over again are the great break-up songs. What are your favorite songs about break-ups or lost love? Here’s my list: TODAY I STARTED LOVING YOU AGAIN by Martina McBride STRAWBERRY WINE by Dina Carter I WHO HAVE NOTHING by Tom Jones I’VE SEEN THAT MOVIE TOO by Elton John I’M LOSING YOU by The Temptations BLACK by Pearl Jam THE WORLD AROUND YOU and FOREVER by Papa Roach. Here’s a good verse from THE WORLD AROUND YOU--I digress: “We never fell in love, we only fell apart So we pick-up the pieces, put 'em together Thought this love was going to last forever….” And so forth. Well, that’s all that I can think of for now. Can you add to the list?

I've got a list of them too but will take some time to compile, lol.
One song I can think of is:

HHTB is a good start rockfan! They played that one on the radio all the time when I was in college. Looking forward to seeing your compilation.

Yes! Cjoe I listen to Creep everynight, sung by MC. I think it's better than RH. But that's just me.

I keep coming back to this thread - I must have loads of CD's of songs I play after being dumped (yes, it happened a lot! ;D )
One that always got me was Still by Lionel Richie. But there are probably loads of others if I thought about it. Nothing Else Matters - Metallica was always another favourite.

Nobody Knows it but Me ~ Babyface
I still cry sometimes when I hear it ~ the journey to get where I am today, came with alot of sacrifices ~ it was hard to be in the public eye everyday with a big smile on my face, laughing and joking like I do!!

Those are some great songs, ladies! Thanks for contributing. I just thought of another one.
The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen. This one was excruciating to listen to back in the day--for personal reasons. But today I can enjoy it. Very haunting.

I immediatley went to Gladys Knight "neither one of us" (wants to be the first to say Goodbye) Simply Red "If you don't know me by now" and Eric Carmen's "all by myself" Those are 3 songs that were the magic switch to get me crying like a crazy woman when I went thru my divorce and a bad breakup with a boyfriend shortly thereafter (rebound boyfriend) I don't recommend having one of those. The rebound boyfriend that is. Jill oh gosh I almost forgot "on my own" by Patty Labelle and Michael Mcdonald

I've thought of another one that used to get played a lot - crying by Roy Orbison & KD Lang, it's not often I prefer a remake, but this version sounds heartbreaking, I've always assumed it's because it's slightly slower.

That's a great one, Dawn! I like both versions.
I Can't Stop Loving You by Ray Charles
Here's a classic rock song: Love to Love by UFO--"Misty green and blue. Love to love to love you."

Seasons Change by Exposed I don't know if this is exactly a break-up song. It's more like being away from someone for a long period of time and then seeing how much they've changed while they were gone. This is a real good summertime song--I think I'm going to order it on Amazon.
