Hey Chicagojoe, I just stumbled across a website where you can preview songs off the Cowboy Bebop CDs. I have the boxset, but it appears "Adieu" is on the one titled "Blue". You can preview all of the Bebop CDs as well as Yoko Kanno's solo music and music from other series at this website: jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/music.phpBTW: Wolf's Rain is the series the character Cheza comes from

Thanks for the link Cheza. Some great music--especially Leaving on Red Hill from Wolf's Rain. It's pretty clear that they put a lot of time and money into their productions. Interesting where you got your web name from. That's cool.

Anime and Manga are big business in Japan. I noticed Sci-Fi Channel has started showing an anime block on Monday nights...late...so they can keep the violence, language, etc. in. Anime is (for the most part with the exception of Naruto and stuff like that) not for the kiddies. I'm not familiar with two of the shows they are broadcasting (NOEIN and TOKKO), but the third is Macross Plus - which Kanno did the music for...it's a mini-series of shorts. They're showing it in four sections...Monday will be section two...and after they finish airing it they're putting something else on...what is it...oh yeah, Street Fighter II...I'm not sure I'll watch that.
On July 30 - they have slated that night for Highlander: Search for Vengeance...I will definitely be watching that one. I just hope the animation does the story justice and they don't blow it big time. From what little I've read on IMDB...the reviews are mixed...of everything...animation, soundtrack...etc.
However, I did find a plot synopsis there for the Highlander anime:
The lone warrior Colin travels with the wise-cracking ghost Amergan through the ages searching for the immortal despot Marcus Octavius, who killed his lover on the Celtic plains tens of centuries ago. On his quest, he discovers New York is submerged, and one dominant monolith fortress towers over the seas. Colin can save the survivors, but his sword only hungers for the blood of one man. Despite many lifetimes of training, Colin has failed to vanquish Marcus on the great battlefields of history. Can he finish what he started and stop Marcus? Will Colin lead the people to freedom or become consumed by hate? There can be only one. Written by Tom Benton
...plus many said it is VERY VIOLENT...*dripping with sarcasm* Geez...a film about immortals who chop one another's head off to be the only one left standing...Violent? You must be kidding.

Cheza. I'll write down the date for Adult Swim on July 7. I know it's on late at night so I'll be taping it. Looking forward to checking it out.

Well Chicagojoe & HY, looks like you can change that date. Apparently the lovely powers that be at Adult Swim are messing with the Bebop fanatics heads again. Adult Swim is about to go to seven nights a week from six and in their infinite wisdom they have decided to hold off on re-airing Bebop until SEPTEMBER 17 at midnight Central Time/1 a.m. Eastern Time...and not only that, but they've also decided in this process to lead us within five episodes of the end of one of its currently airing series (Blood Plus)...then bop that one to weeknights a while later (after Bleach finishes its run) and start over from the beginning when we're only five episodes from the end of the story!!!! *SIGH* The new schedule - which I can only get to come up through Wikipedia - but know it must be correct because it mentions Astro Boy and I saw a blurb for that the other night while watching late at night: www.adultswim.com/schedule/index.htmlShould you forget and set the recorder - you will get an episode of Trinity Blood. I love Trinity Blood, but it's a bit graphic and the storyline carries all the way through for the most part...It appears to be Episode Seven (looking it up...have the DVD)...oh, that's a good one though that sort of stands alone and an obvious nod to Peter Pan in a darker way. I also think that's one of the few episodes where Abel does not transform...but he may. It's been a bit since I watched it. I would recommend Trinity Blood. It's a vampires (aka Methuselah), people (namely the Vatican's special AX team of which Father Abel Nightroad is a member) against vampires kind of story. Seven does have a Peter and Wendy...but you'd just have to watch it to find out who or what they are . Bebop is available on DVD - Netflix has it if either of you subscribe to that. If not, within the first week of it returning (since it will start back on a Monday - IF they don't change their minds again) it will air all of the episodes on the first DVD - the first five...which introduce Spike, Jet, Faye, Ein, and Vicious (The villain in the overarching storyline...introduced in what some say may very well be the BEST of all of the episodes...I hate to say that because I love them all, but episode five is just simply quite beautiful and at times blood-chilling). It seems Adult Swim likes dangle Bebop like a carrot before our noses and then yank it away cruelly. If only they would re-air Wolf's Rain...Bebop was the first anime ever shown on the network...you'd think they'd have more respect for its' fans. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know the latest of what I've been able to find out on my own after a few unhappy e-mails to Adult Swim. Sorry this is so long, but I'm just a bit perturbed about the way that network is doing things...which I always have been. I need an all anime channel, but I doubt such a thing will ever be available where I live.

Thanks for the update, Cheza. I'm going to check for Bebop on Amazon again. Last time I checked, they only had it on cd. I prefer to see the animation as well as hear the music. We'll see. Talking about dangling carrots, does anyone know if Rockstar is going to be on the CBS fall schedule?

Thanks Dawn. I'm on my way to check it out. Cheza. Amazon has Cowboy Bebop - The Perfect Sessions (Limited Edition Complete Series Boxed Set) It's 26 episodes on 3 discs. It's $28.00. Is that the one you recomend?

This is the anime I'm talking about; however, three discs has to be a bootleg...i.e. not the real deal. The copy I have is on six discs (individual DVDs collected separately because PS were already grabbed up). If you look the product description says that Perfect Sessions consists of seven discs. It might be fine, but it might not, which through Amazon there may be a satisfaction guarantee.
The remix DVD's are probaby the best ones - I see a used copy of just the first disk for $13.59. I say that because they've remastered the sound for 5.1 Surround Sound and cleaned up the imagery. I'm hoping that I get to go to my uncle's someday with my discs because he has a theatre room with Surround Sound, which sadly, I don't have right now.
If I were going to try one of those used Perfect Sessions copies it probably would be the one from grandbanananinja because he/she has received feedback. It looks like the one above hasn't. Several Bebop items are also up on ebay if you want to give that a look. Someone has the first two re-mix DVDs at $6.99 now with 10 hours remaining.
Peace.

Cheza, I ordered Bebop Remix Volume 1 from Amazon. I'll let you know what I think. From all you've said about it and the samples I've heard, I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it. If I really like Volume 1, I'll order the other remixed versions over a period of time. Thanks for pointing out the bootleg 3 disc set. Someone on Amazon happened to mentioned that set as being of inferior quality as well. Really looking forward to seeing it.

Sounds good, Chicagojoe ! You really have to watch out for the bootlegs with anime it seems...especially the older ones like Bebop (it's from 1998 or so...). I think you'll enjoy it. I like the fact that they put episode five on that disc - because otherwise your pretty much just getting introduced to the characters and learning a bit about them. Once Vicious enters the picture it intensifies...it's unusual because he's not in that many episodes, but overall his impact on the series is pretty strong.

P.S. I'm pretty sure those DVDs have the Japanese version with subtitles or the English dubs. While some prefer subs, I'm a dub girl. I want to be able to listen to them say the words. That's just my preference, but there's my two-cents on that. Several of the English dub artists on Bebop have also worked on the dubs for my other favorites and I just really like their characterizations of the Bebop crew. Someday I may watch the subtitled version to see if there are any major differences, but it will have to be a day when I have patience for subtitles. By the way, I don't know if you listened to a clip of "The Real Folk Blues" - which is the ending theme or not. So you know - the verses are in Japanese (and I think they are subtitled on the dub version), but part of the chorus is in English...it's just one of those crazy things...you're not losing it

Cheza. If the product description is correct, this version should have both subtitles and dubbing available. I also read a review on Amazon that said the dubbing for this version was excellant. I don't mind subtitles--I watch alot of foreign films with subtitles, but I definately prefer dubbed films over subtitles. Reading the subtitles and watching the picture at the same time sort of makes me go crosseyed.

I can't remember if I mentioned Al Green's "Let's stay together" but that one is memorable to me from JR high. Bittersweet. For something New? I have Pink's "Who Knew?" on my profile on myspace I love her bold attitude about life and love I want to be her when I grow up......... Nah, I don't wanna grow up I take that back ;D

I love the Bollywood musical "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" and Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood" (his take on Macbeth by Shakespeare), but when you're trying to watch the images and the subtitles you invariably miss something or other! I think they did a perfect job casting the dub voices. If you get into anime I'll guarantee you'll recognize some of them again down the line

I thought of two more:
"Without You" - recorded numerous times...Badfinger, Harry Nilsson, Mariah Carey...
"I'll Be Over You" - Toto
