This isn't exactly a break-up song. It's more about two lovers being seperated. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp0ccQVy1og&mode=related&search=Time To Say Goodbye ~ Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman The English Translation: When Im alone I dream on the horizon And words fail Yes, I know there is no light In a room Where the sun is not there If you are not with me At the windows Show everyone my heart Which you set alight Enclose within me The light you Encountered on the street Time to say goodbye To countries I never Saw and shared with you Now, yes, I shall experience them Ill go with you On ships across seas Which, I know No, no, exist no longer With you I shall experience them When you are far away I dream on the horizon And words fail And yes, I know That you are with me You, my moon, are here with me My sun, you are here with me With me, with me, with me Time to say goodbye To countries I never Saw and shared with you Now, yes, I shall experience them Ill go with you On ships across seas Which, I know No, no, exist no longer With you I shall re-experience them Ill go with you On ships across seas Which, I know No, no, exist no longer With you I shall re-experience them Ill go with you I with you

I'd settle for Emmy Rossum even. She is good too.
I thought it would be cool for Josh Groban and Charlotte Church to do a younger version oh Phantom. That would be fun to see, and to draw more young people to Opera.

"Time To Say Goodbye" is a beautiful song. When Charlotte Church first came out she reminded me of Sarah Brightman so much...not just her voice, but her looks as well. We used Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" for the luminaria ceremony at last year's Relay. I think we're using a Sarah McLachlan song this year. Jilly, are you aware there is now an abridged version of Phantom running in Las Vegas? They shortened it to cater to the attention span of the Vegas crowd. There are so many shows running out there now. It's almost like another Broadway...not that I've been to either yet. I'm hoping to catch RENT at the Orpheum later this year. I'm trying to recruit the various friends who will be in the area for Thanksgiving who I know want to see the show. It's just going to be a matter of how many of us can get free to go. I just missed The Lion King...I'm really pouting a bit over that because a group from school went, but I wasn't asked to chaperone

Cheza I wasn't aware of that. So something cultural in Vegas alighty... I have so many musicals to catch up on, on DVD anyway. I missed Fiddler a few years back here in CO and I nearly died cuz it was staring Topal from the movie. Being broke all the time sucks

Yeah, I know what you mean. Ted Neeley is in his final tour with Jesus Christ Superstar playing Jesus right now and the tour is hitting Paducah next April. I'm hoping I have a personal day or two left (we only get three personal, but I have like 17 sick ones as well) so I can go see it. However, finances may keep me from that, but it sure would be nice.

I haven't seen Jesus Christ Superstar in years. That's going on my list for movie rentals.
I just watched Sarah Brightman live from Las Vegas on DVD. Excellant. She does one of the songs from Phantom. Very nice.

Ted Neely is getting kinda old isn't he? Is he playing Jesus the Golden Years or something? I haven't seen it in years either. I should rent it as well. I forget that we can do that.

Neeley's headshot & bio from the JCS Web site 9 www.thejcstour.com): Ted Neeley (Jesus) the only man to have successfully starred in the title role on Broadway and touring stages as well as in Norman Jewison’s motion picture Jesus Christ Superstar, for which he received Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor and Best Newcomer.
A singer, actor, and composer, Neeley appeared in both the Broadway and Los Angeles companies of Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair, as well as the stage productions of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in New York and Tommy in Los Angeles.
He composed music for and appeared in Robert Altman’s film A Perfect Couple, and was also seen in A Touch of Gold with Ray Charles, and the NBC movies Of Mice and Men and McClaren’s Riders. Neeley composed and performed the music for the Tri-Star feature film Blame it on the Night, NBC-TV’s Highway to Heaven, and The Big Blue Marble for the Children’s Television Network.
He also wrote the music for and starred in Cowboy Jack Street at the Mark Taper Forum Lab in Los Angeles. Currently focusing on writing and producing, Neeley is working in collaboration with his long-time friend and music partner Pepper Martin, writing and recording songs for their new country music album. In addition, Neeley has written and is now developing his new musical work Pandemonium for the Broadway stage.

Here's a pic from the current tour of him as Jesus. According to IMDB's bio on him he was born Sept. 20, 1943...so that means he just turned 64!!!! WOW! So, in 1973 when the movie was made...he was 30.

That's what I thought! He doesn't look that much older than he did in the film - his face is a little fuller than I remember...but WOW! I was reading on IMDB that he (as we all saw in the film) really went into "Bull in the china shop" mode in the temple scene. They said Jewison only got two takes before all the props were broken. Here's another interesting bit of IMDB trivia:
He almost missed out on being cast in Jesus Christ Superstar (1973). After inviting director Norman Jewison to see him in a matinee performance of the Who's "Tommy", he was injured during a show just prior to the one Jewison had bought a ticket to see. He recovered in time for the next show; immediately following this, he drove from Los Angeles to Jewison's hotel in Palm Springs...dressed up as "Jesus Christ." (Norman was leaving for Israel soon thereafter, to shoot the movie.) Not only did Jewison accept his explanation and apology, he gave him the title role in said film.
I can't imagine another actor in the role originally. I like the updated take with Glenn Carter, but I don't love it like the original with Neeley and Yvonne Elliman as Mary.
In other trivia - he met his wife on the film version of JCS...she was a dancer in the film.
