OOOO Feather, that Koontz book sounds interesting. One of my friends used to correspond with him *I think it was him...will ask her* via e-mail. She sent him a fan comment one day and he e-mailed her back much to her surprise!

I hope I get a chance to read it soon, Feather, but right now I'm busy with reading some of the books on the AP English list...I feel like I need to read some of the classics I have never read before next fall. I'm making a note of Koontz though and will let you know when I get to it! Thanks for the suggestion! Peace.

Oh Gosh I was always afraid to read Koontz, I thought his stuff would give me nightmares. I broke down and read one at our work "book exchange" table last year. I cannot remember what it was called for the life of me but it basically is about a young man and his wife (I believe) and aliens attacking them and in the end you realize that it was schizophrenia all along and man what a trip that was. I was in tears for the guy in the end as he had had some emotional breakthroughs. Koontz is Intense for sure!!

Mhmm...I've always heard that, but I've never managed to get one of his books read. I have to do so much reading for work I usually don't have much free time to read...which I'd have more if I didn't spend so much time at the .org...but what fun would that be? I'm trying to decide what I want to start with. I was working on Great Expectations before school was out, but I'm thinking about jumping into 1984 if I can find one of my copies when I get all those boxes home. Peace.

Got the rest of the Maximum Ride series by Patterson and the books I didn't have from T.A. Barron's Great Tree of Avalon series. Why do I suddenly feel like the urgency to read the classics has gone out the window and I'll be reading these first? *bats eyes innocently*...Heli, if you see this Kanno's CD came with them...haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but most likely will tomorrow.

Oh I also wanted to mention that I re-watched Anne of Green Gables on PBS and wondered if anyone hear read that series? The series was great. I also read the book "Christy" after seeing that show back in the day and it is a really good book if you like reading about romance back in the TN. mountains in the early 1900's Jilly

Jilly, Maximum Ride is Patterson's first series for young adults. So far there are three books: The Angel Experiment, School's Out Forever, and Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports. I started reading the first one, Angel Experiment, today. I'm about 24 pages in. It's a fairly quick read. If you've ever read his book The Lake House the characters in this have a similarity to the Max in that, and there is a Max in this one, but it's not the same character he explains in a note at the start of the book.
I haven't read L.M. Montgomery's series about Anne, but I have it on my shelf at work. I think I have personal copies too...just another one of those things I keep meaning to read, but don't get around to it.

I just finished reading this very entertaining book about the history and rock music heritage of Laurel Canyon. The book is by Michael Walker, its complete title is Laurel Canyon: The Inside Story of Rock-and-Roll's Legendary Neighborhood. I ran into an interview with the author on NPR's site just recently when I was looking for something else. The book and anecdotes the guy told sounded interesting... plus he has a blog on the book that I read too www.laurelcanyonthebook.com/ So this compelled me to buy the book. I ordered it online, it arrived last week and I finished reading it this weekend. tinyurl.com/yrfkfs This link will let you order it at Amazon, if you are so inclined.

Wow Cindy this sounds really cool. My oldest brothers birthday is coming up and this totally sounds like something he would go nuts for! he is very familiar with the 60's 70's. He was there passing around bongs in his tie-dyed shirts and being free ;D Is it something that would make a nice coffee table book too? Nice pics and so forth? Thanks again for the review

I didn't realise he'd written two of my all time favourite shows. Blackadder and Young Ones...fantastic, rib and jaw aching laughs they are! The talking toilet...."what's domestos?" ;D ;D ;D ;D I jst finished re-reading Cod - A biography of the Fish that Changed the World by Mark Kurlansky.social science/ecology/culinary Tells the story of the history of the cod fishing industry around the world dating 100's of years back, how it shaped the early US settlement and economy, the cod wars and how even though the oceans stocks of cod are depleted, the world still insists on fishing for them. Well worth a read. Interesting, well written and easy to read.

Yep, pretty sure it was him - now I feel I have to check my facts, but am sure it said it on the first page of the book.

P.S. Haven't had much time to read in my book lately. Hopefully I can get back to it next week, but right now my comic strip that I want to finish coloring has derailed my good intentions once more.
