Hi everyone, Just a quick post from the 'new' house now that we have finally moved. All went well, only broke one thing, a cordial jug, that we know of so far so nothing important. Still MANY boxes to unpack and that will take months with Mick working full time again for awhile and me back on both crutches or wheelchair bound it is hard doing what I want to get done. So damn frustrating not being fully mobile But that is my life from now on and I just have to get used to it. Picked up a bug and probably also being so exhausted from the move didn't help and vomitting, nausea, dizzy spells and migraines didn't help get things moving either for 5 days straight. Seem to finally have that under control as today my breakfast has stayed down so I think that has now run its course Everyday has been endless phones calls to organise something for the house and each day there has been somebody out to do work or connect something, phone, cable, internet, heating (thank GOD as I hate being cold) etc. Friday will be my first sleep in day with no workmen expected. Except that I get up at 6.45 am to get Mick off to work, but this time I am going back to bed House was left in an absolute pigsty by the last owners, which I think is pure laziness and just disgusting, they also left so many of their belongings behind, some rubbish but some also very good stuff. Laptop, flat screen TV, CD player, DVD player, video player, fog machine (for parties etc) other electrical stuff as the guy was in that trade. So many clothes, jewelry, photo frames, ice box x2, fish tank, silver ware, back packs, ironing board, & much more. We are gonna keep what we want and the rest goes to the thrift shop. The roof leaks in 2 places and of course it is winter here, so we have bif buckets in the kitchen & bathroom to catch the water until Mick has time to get up in the roof and fix the problem. You don't sell (a quite expensive) house with a leaky roof, that is just wrong, and you clean up after yourself or you hire a cleaning company to come in and got hru the house. I have had to clean every cupboard before I can unpack a box and I am finding more of their stuff all the time, paperwork, school books, photos etc. It has all gone out in the rubbish, no more phone calls to tell them come collect their items we have rung them twice and left messages and they don't reply so they obviously don't care about what they left behind. Just so much more time consuming when I have to clean up here before I can unpack, makes for slow going. It is so noisy here, never having lived in the burbs before and always having acreage it is going to take me awhile to get used to all the noises of everyday living. Even tho we live on a dead end road I am not used to so much traffic noise and having the other houses so close. Anyway, gotta go do some more unpacking, catch you all soon, so nice of you all to stop by and see how I am going especially cfbj, key, dawn, nancy, Lyn, Brenda and Den. My right leg has been giving me heaps of trouble and witht he cold I am having an exceptionally hard time keeping my foot warm, my big toe and my little toe are purple most days with no circulation and the A word (amputation) has been mentioned by my specialist,m I am hoping we can find another way to fix the problem and we are trying but no luck so far. I tried a special machine yesterday that helps with circulation to feet & ankles and we were hoping this would work and get the blood flowing again in the right places, it has an intensity of 0-99, most people cannot go higher than 20 intensity as it is to painful, I had the machine at 99, as high as it could go and still couldn't feel it. Tells you how dead my foot is doesn't it. Looks like the paralysis is permanent but now having other side effects which we hoped wouldn't happen. Anyway, will let you know after I see the specialist again. Cheers, Helen. (sorry for any spelling mistakes, typing fast!!)

Awe Helen Over here you have to now sign some kind of legal document to say that you'll leave the house clean & not leaving any of your stuff behind to save the kind of hassle you're having. We've got about the last 4 owners stuff in the loft; I won't go up there - so gawd only knows what's up there. So sorry to hear about the crappy things you're going through - especially all that with your foot - sounds scary. Fingers crossed that there will be something that can be done before the "A" word. Congratulations on the good stuff - new electrical equipment and actually moving in. Also, enjoy your extra sleep time on Friday - hopefully the noise won't seem so bad & you'll have no pain. I'm always popping in this thread to see what's going on and always wish you and Mick the best.

Hi Helen--thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear you're getting settled in the new house, but gosh, those folks sure didn't make it easy for you. Sounds like they should have had a giant sale to get rid of all that stuff, instead of leave it there.
I'm SO sorry to hear you're having such problems with your foot. I hope that they can find a way to help you. You are such a brave lady, and have been through so much. It seems like you ought to have things going your way soon.
Lots of hugs! Nancy

Hi sweet Helen! Lovely to hear from you, though I'm sorry the house was such a wreck and you are having so many physical problems still. You are often in my thoughts and prayers, dear.
We looked at a house for sale once where the house had been left full of "stuff". Our realtor had not been in the house so she was just as surprised and baffled as we were -- furniture (but not staged as if showing off the house), toys, clothing (even a WEDDING dress!), and, believe it or not, toiletries (used) in the bathroom. It was creepy, as if the people who had lived there had just vanished. I wish I knew the story, it had to have been some sort of story there.
Oh, well, I guess in both your case and the house we looked at, the houses were being sold "furnished", it would just have been nice if you had known that ahead of time, huh?!
Hand rehab for my broken wrist/hand is progressing. It's slow going, but they told me it would be. So I'm trying to do all the exercises to keep things going and be happy with the small steps.
Hello to all the ausgals and ausguests! Have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend!

The house is starting to look habitable, boxes are slowly getting unpacked and Mick is getting the odd jobs that need doing around the house done slowly. He finishes this job on Friday and then heads up to QLD for 5 days to catch some sun with a few of his mates and I get left with the puppy and the mess, thanks Mick!! I'd love a holiday too, especially as Melbourne's weather at present is bloody freezing and not at all helping my bones Lyn, those photos above are just delicious thanks so much, just need to look at them and brings a smile to my face Den, dlh, is very excited at present, I shouldn't spoil it for her and spill the beans, I know she will drop by soon and fill everyone in. Key, keep up those hand/wrist exercises, you will be back to your old self before you know it! I wish I had exercises that could get things back in shape, I have my next appointment with my specialist to decide on more surgery in a couple of weeks, not looking forward to it but things can't stay like they are, I don't want to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair after being such an active person it is really tough on me. It isn't the wheelchair that is the main problem, I think I could learn to get past that, but I can't get past the pain 24/7, it is unbearable. Anyway, time to go get dinner ready, feed the puppy and empty the dishwasher. Cheers, Helen.

Helen, thanks for posting, sounds like the wheelchair isn't stopping you be active with all those chores to do before bed time! How's the puppy doing? Oooh, I've not heard from Den in a while, I wonder what she's up to - I love surprises, I just hate waiting for them - patience has never been a virtue of mine - I blame the red hair for that! Good luck with the specialist appointment I'm forever hopeful that they will have something that will help you. Take care
