Hi all, Forgot to add that INXS were excellent and actually played as part of the warm up entertainment before the game and not at half time like I thought. Mick said JD sounded great I will be away from the boards for awhile, going back into hospital tomorrow for 2 operations so will be away for at least 2 weeks, if I get too bored in there I will get Mick to bring the laptop in so I can catch up with you all. I am hoping this round of surgery will give me some pain relief, I can barely move at present and my discs I broke and have bulging are way out of alignment so that is just part of the surgery, trying to get them back in place and relieve some of the pressure without anymore spinal damage. Speak to you all in a couple of weeks. GO SAINTS!!! GO SAINTS!!! GO SAINTS!!!! Hate the thought I will be watching the rematch in hospital, I will have to be doing my screaming at the TV into a pillow as the other patients might not approve. Cheers, Helen

Helen, so sorry St. Kilda did not win the Grand Champion title this time. 2nd place....fans especially here know how that feels. Brings back memories of the finals of RSINXS. A bit of a coinky dinky that INXS played at the finals. Congrats to the Saints for an exciting season. Still loved Cheers!

Hi everyone, Haven't caught up with you all for awhile so thought I had better drop by and say g'day, so G'DAY Was absolutely devastated St Kilda, my not so Mighty Saints, lost the Grand Final for the second year running, this team really knows how to torture its supporters The other bad news that week was that my surgery went really badly and left me completely paralyzed from the waist down, luckily it was surgery we could reverse so I am back to just having partial paralysis in my right leg again and immense pain. Anymore surgery has been put on hold for the rest of this year and I am now going to see a specialist physio who deals only in my type of injury. The physio is very painful but hopefully over the next 3 months we can see some sort of movement come back into my leg and it will be worth it. Mick has to do alot of follow up sessions at home between physio visits and we are hoping this is now the way to go. The weather here now is gorgeous as summer is just around the corner but I am only getting more and more depressed as usually I would be out every weekend with my horses competing at the horse shows. I can't even bring myself to sit outside in the sun as I get too upset, I spend all my time indoors trying to keep away from the sun so I don't really depressed and end up in tears for what I no longer have. I don't even like talking to my friends anymore as they are all 'horsey' and I end up a blubbering mess, they offer to take me to the horse shows with them but that is the last thing I want, there is no way I could handle that. I am finding the going very hard at present and I honestly don't think Mick really understands depression. He just gets angry with me and goes out with his mates or does his own thing as he doesn't know what he should do. Not that I know what to do either! Thank goodness for Ruby, our dog, at least I have her for cuddles No other news, good or bad, bye Helen.

Helen, I feel so bad for you! Your poor body has been through so much, and your hopes dashed so many times, that it's not surprising your spirit is hurting, too. I want to suggest something to you. Sometimes in life, when darkness seems to be closing in all around your spirit, and you don't know how to find your way through the hard times, it can be absolutely life-saving to have a guide to lead you out of the darkness, someone who is there FOR YOU, and who totally understands how to help you find your way again. I am talking about a trained professional counselor/therapist. I'm not sure how qualifications are set up in Australia, but here in the states, counselors can be psychologists, certified social workers with training in counseling, or (more rarely) psychiatrists. The important thing is to ask for referrals for someone with training and experience in the matters that are most affecting you. So for your case, looking for someone who has experience counselling people who have suffered life-changing injuries would probably steer you in the right direction to someone who can really help you rebuild your life. You could ask your doctors or hospital for the names of counselors, or if there's a local mental health association, you could ask them. Tell them what you're looking for in a counselor, including whether you'd prefer to counsel with a female or a male, etc. Also, if you totally don't 'click' with the first counselor you go to, it's OK to go to a different one. You will know within a few visits if this is someone you're going to be able to work with or not. With the right counselor, you feel like you have a safe place to be understood and heard. They will help you find ways to put the broken parts of your spirit back together. I'm speaking from personal experience--finding the right counselor, and working with that person with an open mind and heart, makes a huge difference in a person's life. You don't have to go through all this alone--this person is in your corner in a way that even your spouse and closest relatives aren't able to be. Please do this for yourself, dear Helen. It is painful to think of you suffering like this. Please ask for the help you need to put the pieces back together again, no matter what happens with your physical outcomes. Your spirit needs to heal, too. I hope you see some positive results from the physio. You are such a brave and strong lady, to endure all you have been through.

I ditto Nancy's advice, Helen. I'm sending prayers and positive waves for you too. Wish I could box up Marty and send him to you too, I bet that'd help your attitude immensely.

Helen, I'm so sorry that your surgery didn't work! I hope the physio works for you. But definitely take Nancy's advice and see if you can find a qualified counselor to talk to.

Hi Helen So sorry to hear your news, I can't imagine how bad things look to you right now, but I'd agree with Nancy - with finding the right person to talk to, who understands, you'll get through this. We're all here for you, even if you just want someone to scream at - I'm usually here "Aussie hours", so feel free to scream at me. Take care.

Love and Hugs and Prayers Helen. I take something for my depression and it has saved my life and helped clear my head enough to be able to see things clearly and rationally again ( well usually-minus the ol pms time). I am sorry you are going thru a rough spell. It's okay to not always have to try to be strong. I think it's okay to be sad for a spell . You have been through So Much and you always come out fighting! I admire you so much. You are not alone we are all family here and I agree you should scream and vent. It will feel better. And Dawn did offer her services Take care and hold on to hope! God bless you lots and lots in the days ahead. J~

Helen I am so sorry the last surgery didn't work as you had hoped. We were all hoping you would be pain free. Thank goodness they were able to reverse the surgery though. Hopefully the physio will begin to work for you soon. Like the others have said if you possibly can, check into getting some counseling. I'm sure it would help. Hugs, prayers, and positive vibes being sent to you and Mick
