Mention of the new CD

This is hardly worth a new thread, but I’m not sure where else to put it.

This morning a coworker brought me an article from the Fremont Argus (southeast of San Francisco), which mentions the new Lovehammers CD as a new release to look forward to. I copied and pasted just the Marty stuff, or you can find the whole article at the link below.

NEW ON CD: Getting a spin on early 2006

THE RECORD industry pretty much grinds to a halt in late December and doesn't fire back up until mid-February....fans, of course, can just keep listening to the Decemberists' "Picaresque," Kanye West's "Late Registration," Brad Mehldau's "Day is Done" and some of the other top offerings from 2005 while they wait for this dry spell to end. Or they might take a chance on one of the selections listed below, which are among the most-appetizing new releases set for January.

"Martin Casey and the Lovehammers," Martin Casey and the Lovehammers (Sony): Casey was the runner-up to J.D. Fortune on the reality TV show "Rock Star: INXS." While Fortune took home the big trophy — the opportunity to join INXS — Casey still managed to score a record deal and grab the opening slot on INXS's current tour. Those aren't bad consolation prizes. This debut record drops on Jan. 24.

Nice article. Now it is soooo important to get radio play. Mods, I think a new thread should be started to tell everyone how to call in request. Also, LH's should do well on MTV's Total Request Live (TRL) and would be well received because they do play alternative rock. VHS is a good one as well for showing their "Trees" video. Hope we hear something soon on when this will be released.

These are all fantastic ideas! I've already done some work. It's hard to do right now before the CD comes out.

Besides local stations, any of the radio stations that have webcasts are also good targets because they'll take requests from around the globe or wherever they broadcast to.

KFOG loves to play requests from exotic locations (I guess it makes them feel important), so they are likely to pay attention to all of you making requests outside California...or if you just want to tell them that you’re someplace far away.

I'll make sure to check it out! I made a request at one site yesterday, but the whole time I was thinking I bet they don't have MOMM.......so I'll definitely go into high gear once the new CD becomes available.

Radioclash, I agree with you that it's hard to do much when the album is not out yet. But perhaps we can direct the media to CDs that the Lovehammers have already released. I guess we need an angle when we go with our stories to the media - like Lovehammers: hitherto undiscovered gem from Chicago.

Hi Trees,
I just sent an email to Much Music Canada expressing how excited I was that they would be in Vancouver, how Marty blew everyone away on RS and that the band is going to blow Vancouver away. I added all of the fan and map links.

Hope they get good coverage when they are there

I've started doing things, but it is hard because
1. right now we don't know how much Epic will be doing
2. There's no sound samples up for the new album
3. a lot of things are a work in process - like the new Lovehammers sight is really still underdeveloped

I'm sure all of this will be taken care of ASAP - it's just that I'm so excited and impatient.

I know a lot of people hate the idea of writing to a radio station, but a really quick and simple thing to do would be to write your fave station that you're pretty sure will play the Lovehammers. Pick out your favorite DJ and just tell them the Lovehammers will be in town on so-and-so date and that it will be really cool if the station would interview them or feature them.

That would be a short and sweet and realtively painless letter to write
