Sample of Email I wrote to K-Lite 103.5 FM, Manila's Lite Alternative Dear " ", I'm a new listener of K-Lite 103.5: Manila's Lite Alternative. I really enjoy the variety of music that you play. I'm also one of the "Street Team" promoters for Marty Casey and the Lovehammers in the Philippines. As you probably already know, they are the opening act for INXS' Switch Tour. My main purpose in writing you is to ask your assistance in "spreading the word" about this brilliantly talented Chicago-based modern rock band. The ultimate goal is to get as many people exposed to their AWESOME music. Therefore, they need as much air play as possible. The band's self-titled debut CD will be released on January 24, 2006 by Epic Records. I suggest you that you listen to the tracks Trees, Tunnel, Hold on, Rain on the Brain and Eyes Can't See. They are amazing tunes! Of course, the whole CD is fabulous. Would it be possible to have a special event in promoting their music? There are many Filipino fans eagerly awaiting for Marty Casey and the Lovehammers to swing by the Philippines for a concert this year. They've gained popularity here ever since their lead singer Marty Casey competed in Rockstar INXS. The group has mentioned that they plan on doing an Asian tour but no details yet on which countries they'll be stopping by. That's why it's so important that their record label and everybody else in the world know who they are. I believe this will definitely make a difference in them coming here. Here are links about the band: www.lovehammers.comwww.martycasey.org/lovehammersfanclub.com/I may be reached at ........ I hope to hear from you soon! Thank you very much. Best Regards, ..................................

Hi aphrodite - Just wanted to say keep up the good work I really think the single "Trees" would be a huge hit in the PI. I know from e-mailing my cousins they loved the song on RSINXS.

nice!!! i think its a big possibility that NU would include Trees in their playlist... i think they're playing pretty vegas (if i remember it right, they even broadcasted one of the interviews of the 3 finalists before)... emailing them would definitely be worth it...

I've emailed all of the stations above. I haven't gotten a response yet. Some of them bounced back. I have to trace which ones don't work and post it here so your efforts won't go to waste. Please PM me if you wanna be part of Street Team Manila. Thank you!

It's been quite challenging finding people to join Street Team Philippines because there isn't a consistent site for the Street Team as a whole. Anyway, just to update, I've emailed major radio stations in Manila. Then I discovered that the email addresses I found are "dead" addresses. At least I tried, eh? My schedule is more flexible than most. Since the Philippines is made up of 7, 107 islands, it's going to be hard to really reach everyone. Therefore, the best strategy for me is to hit the most popular islands that international bands go to and that is Luzon (capital Manila) and Cebu which I travel to and from every so often. I work as freelance consultant and my relatives in Cebu are hiring me to work there for 2 months this end of January to develop the dessert menu of www.handuraw.com. It's a live music jamming cafe. I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity and "SPREAD THE WORD" about THE LOVEHAMMERS. I'm going to hook up with the rockers there. If they know good rock, then they would get with the Lovehammers music. I hope I'm going to play Lovehammer music when there's no concert going on. Or, I'll get some of the local Cebuano rockers to do covers of LH songs. Detailed plan while in Cebu: 1. Put up LH posters at Handuraw Cafe and Kahayag Cafe (live acoustic music owned by my relatives in Cebu and they are next to each other) 2. Print stickers and leave them on the counters where other musicians display their CDs. 3. I have a cousin who is a popular solo rock singer and her former band won the best band in CEBU awarded by MTV Philippines. She would know who to contact. It's all about connections and how well you use them. When I'm back in Manila: 1. I plan on giving out the stickers to universities and high schools through my cousins and cousins kids. 2. Go to major retail outlets like Tower Records, Music One, & Odyssey and give stickers. Customer gets 1 sticker per LH CD that he/she buys. I got an uncle who prints stickers pretty cheap. 3. Print some LH T-shirts and give it to select radio stations as giveaways if they hear an LH song like "Trees" played and call in. Okay...these are my ideas so far. I wish I wasn't alone on this because money is tight for me and I need other Filipino Hammersheads to chip in with the cost. Later... My dear cousin added MartyCasey.org to the family's live music cafe: www.handuraw.com/links/Rock!

I checked out the website, and the cafe' looks awesome! Also, I was thinking last night about how so many post-RS INXS articles came from Filipino publications and besides Mig, Marty seemed to get the most mentions and articles written about him. So I'll scrounge around today to see if I can find where we can write to the journalists/papers who wrote stories previously.

There was one station that I wanted to pm the DJs and it asked for me to install language translation software. Since I don't like to download things that I'm not sure about (too many viruses etc.) I did not email them. I can't remember which radio station that was? Other than that, they all heard from me. Den

Mia, got a reply from dj Leon of Jam 88.3 He's very honest in saying that he is not that familiar with Marty& LH music, but he is very much willing to listen to their music, and acknowledges our cause to promote the band here in the Philippines.
He is requesting for any available Marty/LH materials, I need your help with this one, for I'm not sure on what to give him. For the meantime, I just forwarded him the links where he can get a doze of the band's music.
