The official Lovhammers song to be test-run on Y101FM Cebu is "TREES". Get your requests in so that they stay on the playlist of this radio station.
My idea to have a Lovehammer Trivia Day and give away some CDs on the radio station won't happen if "TREES" doesn't climb up their most requested song charts.
All Hammerheads are needed to help the band WIN!

I checked Y101FM Cebu's requests page and I see some familiar Hammerheads already made some. Thank you. We need more people! Where are the rest of the Hammerheads? ? They have to be part of the top 20 charts!

A local Filipino sessionist singer/guitar player answered my ad to play covers of LH at my aunt's music cafe--Kahayag. He's an old guy with a lot of passion for music. He was a little shy to do it but felt that he was being "called" to do so when he saw my ad.
I've always loved to sing myself but never had the guts and now I'm going to be singing acoustic with this guy. My family thinks I have a nice voice but that remains to be heard.
I'm really nervous in performing but I love music and love Lovehammer songs so I'll brave it.
We plan on performing Trees, The Riddle, and Clouds. God...I hope we do justice.
I'm kinda freaking out now....what have I gotten myself into. This guy is really relying on me to pull all of this together.
When I let him hear snippets of the three songs above, he said that the melody was great. He just felt he really had to answer my ad and dare to jump into the unknown.
I just hope that we do a good job. I'm so nervous.......I've never done anything like this before. I'm even more comfortable yacking on the radio.

that is sooo cool. you must take pix, video of this so we can see/hear! Don't worry about singing - if your radio voice is any indication you have nothing to worry about. Just sing, baby!!!

queen, you are the epitome of a fan. Spring is coming to these parts of the US, and I think it no mere coincidence that you, just as Persephone, are rising up for the occasion! You are dedicated, a risk taker, and a very strong woman. I am confident that you will do very well. More power to ya babe!

HONG KONG okay, so having funny Street team-y ideas today, that just might go somewhere. It looks like I'll be interviewing Giorgio Armani at end of March, so i thought I might pass him a CD. But then I thought, that would be a good way to be fired. So instead, will wear MCLH t-shirt and if it comes up (designers tend to ask about what people are wearing in my experience) then I can talk up boys and give him cd if he's interested. 2. Just remembered that bestest friend, now living in Japan, has brother who is pretty famous Hollywood film director (won't say who). I think she needs to pass on LH info to him. The music should be in big-time films, no? Both these ideas may come to nothing, but one can only try. in meantime, my daughter has become Hammerhead extraordinaire and has converted a number of classmates. The cool thing is they each really dig different songs, although Casualty and Trees are on heavy rotation... ahh, kids

Family and friends of mine have a number of connections with the music industry here. First of all, I have two cousins who belong to popular bands here. One is a rock band called The Zarah Smith Band (starring my cousin) and the other is a reggae band where my cousin Gina plays keyboards called Junior Kilat. By the way, The Zarah Smith Band won the best band by MTV Awards Cebu.
My cousin Gina's boyfriend is a concert organizer and when I pitched the idea to bring LH in, he was interested and we will meet someday soon. He's always wanted to bring in a foreign band. He's got a lot of connections in the rock industry here. I can't promise that I will be able to bring the boys here right away. I hope to have Mig Ayesa as their opening act since he's Filipino and friends with Marty as well as bring in local bands to open for LH. These things seem to be falling on my lap--again. "Simply Sweet" I can't promise I can bring LH but I'll try my best.
I'm even being asked to organize a Filipino Rock Festival and bring local Filipino Rock bands to the US cuz they kick ass! I don't know if I can do all of this. It's very overwhelming.

Woo-hoo, Mia! Maybe you should try out for the next Rock Star show Good luck, just close your eyes and feel the music inside of you. CHK - love those ideas! Especially about the Hollywood director. I can't even begin to count the number of songs/CDs I bought after hearing them in the movies.

I will try my best girls! I'm not only gonna be working with this old guy who kinda reminds me of Louis Armstrong but I will also be working with an aspiring rock band called Animo. Their lead singer is a girl and sings like Janis Joplin/Joss Stone. I know she can belt out the LH songs. Everyone is doing such a great job Street Teaming even if you guys are not in the Phillippines. I'm so happy to have met such wonderful people. Love ya! Mia

I'm happy that you are privileged with knowing a number of influential people.. Sigh, I just wish Marty & LH will soon visit our region. ara

The Philippines is in a STATE OF EMERGENCY due to rebel military soldiers gone rogue against the government and other fellow Filipinos and the opposition government hell bent on ousting current President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. This is how I grew up....war always looming around Manila. Bomb threats. Graft and corruption. Death threats and murder. You name it. It all happens in the Philippines. Since I mainly reside in the capital, my street teaming for the Lovehammers will be cut short when I return to Manila end of March. It's not safe to go out. I could be in mall shopping, eating, or watching a movie and bomb could go off anytime. It never fails. When I was back at the end of 2000, a lot of terrorist attacks were happening. And it's still happening. There's a mutiny going on right now. I best register myself onto the Canadian Embassy list of Canadians residing in Manila in case we all have to be flown out to safety. I'm so tired of all of this but this is the reality of life in the Philippines. If you guys don't hear from, it's because I can't get to a computer. I can't go out of our house. Or I don't know.... I don't mean to scare anyone. But I'm scared, sad, frustrated, and scared again. While I'm in Cebu, I'm pretty much safe. Back in Manila, is a different story. I just wish all this fighting and killing would end. Take care everyone.

It makes me so sad that there is such suffering. Please take care and just keep yourself safe. I will be keeping you and all the innocents (and the not so innocents) in the Philippines in my thoughts and meditations.
If all the harms Fears and sufferings in the world Arise from self-grasping, What need have I for such a great evil spirit? - Shantideva
O love, O pure deep love, be here, be now Be all; worlds dissolve into your stainless radiance, Frail living leaves burn with you brighter than cold stars: Make me your servant, your breath, your core. - Rumi
Namaste to all.

Hi Mia, I work with 4 techs from the Philippines and one is from Cebu island, though not from the same town..her sister still lives there. I know it is a very hard life over there. Most of my Philippine co-workers work more than one job so that they can send money home to the Philippines to help their families. I admire them so much for that.
Please be safe and keep in touch when you can. It is good that you can register with the Canadian embassy.
Your friend in Indy Den

I'm in the island of Cebu and far from Manila. But my parents are there and other relatives and friends as well. I just talked to my Dad and it's very chaotic. I'm very worried about them. I moved to Canada when I was 14, visited the Philippines 1995, same deal, visited 1998, same deal, here right now and nothing has changed. It's very sad. Thank you so much for caring. It helps having a "hammer family".
But on a happier note, I've been told by my friend Teena on Y101FM that TREES is getting a lot of air play with John M on his Wicked Wednesday show.
I'll be back in Manila at the end of March and I hope that things have calmed down by then if not I'm gonna bug the hell out of the Canadian Embassy to get me out.
While I'm in Cebu for another month, I'm able to communicate more. Take care care. Thank you again for your concern.
Hope springs eternal, Mia

I just received word from the Canadian Embassy that: "Sorry, we are not evacuating anyone. We haven't even changed the travel advisory, because the security situation for Canadians has not changed one bit". So I'm stuck right now.

Mia, It must be very difficult to play such a waiting game. Here's hoping that things do calm down soon. And through this you are still keeping tabs on Lovehammers and air time...You ROCK girl! To you and all your family, be safe. Chris
