RE: international sales: From a Billboard.com FAQ: "Since 1991, Billboard has relied on the data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks U.S. point-of-purchase sales, to inform its sales charts." So Billboard is US only. Thanks ceeje for checking. Itybits, your hubby had a great idea. When I gave my co-workers each copies of MCLH, the ones that had children all said that Trees was their favorite. One said her daughter sang it all weekend....which I think may have been a bit annoying for Mom....LOL. Den

Thanks ceeje.
Den - lol about the Mom getting annoyed, but hey I would much rather have Trees on the repeat button than most of the kid's stuff out there.
Speaking of gifts, I just remembered one that would be good for this time of the year.
How about giving the CD along with a map to whatever destination you know your friend/family member is going to with a note that says 'For the long road ahead' or something similar? My Dad got this once with another CD and really liked the gesture.

Last month, when one of my friends was moving, as a going away gift I gave her a copy of the CD for her hour long commute she was going to have with her new job.

This has been my standard gift for all occasions since the CD was released. Everyone who has heard it tells me they love it! It may not be something they would buy for themselves but after hearing it they are sold. My friends husband(die hard INXS fans) who I took to the concert hasn't taken it out of his car CD player since. How about graduation gifts! I was thinking of a MCLH CD and a itunes gift card for all the grads I have to buy for college and high school.

Brilliant ideas!
So first we convert them and hopefully very soon they'll be able to get tickets to a show and see the band up close & personal!

Hey, just a quick note. There has been some talk about if buying more than one CD does it only count as one sale on the charts. So, you may want to purchase them one at a time. Unfortunately, I hate shopping and going to stores, but I will do this for the guys. Just means I can do the CD shuffle in a bunch of stores - that doesn't count as shopping, it's promoting! lol Just making sure that everyone see this. ;D I know that in the past I have purchased more than one at a time...sucks to know that those only counted as one sale. I'll make sure to buy them one at a time this week.

Brilliant ideas! So first we convert them and hopefully very soon they'll be able to get tickets to a show and see the band up close & personal! Then they will REALLY be hooked! Sadly, I'm guilty of buying multiple copies at one time too (even did so at Best Buy on Friday ). This week ALL my purchases will be one at a time. Thanks for the info.

Oh that really stinks! Billboard/SoundScan has some peculiar practices. I read that when a 2disc double CD gets sold - it counts as 2 sales even thought it really is only one album - huh? strange...
So today IS the day to talk up the CD. Good luck everyone!
I'm going to see what I can about a indie record store around the corner from me.

Ok, this is what I'm doing.....My daughter's prom is coming up May 6th, the day after Memphis, So, she wants to buy allot of CD's to give to her special friends in gift bags that are very popular this year. In the bag, all the Seniors are putting something in em that has made a mark on their Senior years in high school. Natasha wants to put the CD's in em, so that's what we are doing this week, per Natasha's demands!.....And I think it's a great way to spread this to the teenagers out there.....Later all...Nancy

We like to give gift cards for anniversaries, bdays, etc. for dinner out (out of town, especially) and now we'll include a MCLH CD for the ride there. I love this idea. Better stock up.... ;D

I just bought a copy of the CD and gave it to music director for our NHL hockey team the Edmonton Oilers, and requested he play Trees (or any other track he liked) at the games. I'm going to do the same with our football team.

If we all hit up our local sports teams to play Trees at the games it would reach a large audience on a regular basis.

Copying from the "10 Person Whisper" thread to get the word out
Hey all....check out your local Best Buy location for MCLH. I found it there for $9.99 today! It was marked down from $21.99 which is awesome especially if you're making multiple purchases which I did. I had the clerk ring each one through individually to ensure that they every one counts! Not sure if all Best Buy locations are offering it at the same price but it's worth checking out....the less they cost the more you can afford to pick up! Oh ya, and at my Best Buy it was not under "C" for Casey nor was it under "L" for Lovehammers but it was in the "M" section for Marty. Again, it's hard to say if it is filed the same way in every store but check them all out. I thought they didn't have it until I asked and was told that they had several copies in stock.

I went out yesterday to buy a copy as a thank you gift for my personal trainer. The first store I went into only had one copy, so I left it, thinking if it isn't there, it can't be purchased - then at the second store I went to, it was $2.00 more!! And, I convinced someone else to look at it, he was listening to it when I cashed out...hopefully he bought it to. Two people down, many more to go!!
