AnySoldier.com is a website where soldiers volunteer to receive care packages for their unit. (It is Dept. of Defense policy not to distribute packages that are not addressed to a specific soldier --i.e. ones that are addressed to "Any Soldier".) These volunteers (usually captains and sergeants) distribute the items in the care packages and the letters equally among their unit. Many soldiers never receive anything that is not a part of these care packages sent by strangers.
My challenge to all Hammerheads is to go to www.anysoldier.com, select a soldier, and send a care package or a letter.
If you send a care package, please consider including a Lh CD or download the songs from iTunes/Yahoo/MSN and burn them to a CD. Songs like "The Tunnel" and "Hold On" would have such meaning for our soldiers. ("There's a light at the end of the tunnel. Wait for me. And, I'll be coming home soon..." "Hold on..to your head when your heart is broken...clouds will clear and the sun will shine, once again...")
If you write a letter, just talk to the soldier like a friend. Maybe you could write down some of the lyrics to "Hold On" or "The Tunnel". Some fans have called them poetry.
Whichever you choose, just do it with LOVE.
Postage is not that much, just the cost of Priority Mail to New York or California. (It explains all this on the website.)
If you send a care package with a CD, please post the name only of the soldier you sent it to. That way we can Spread the LOVE a bit further.
