I'm starting this one both because I love this show and because I know aussiefan, who can't be with us right now, loves this show. (Check out her myspace if ya don't believe me.)
Anywhoooo, I've seen the first 2 episodes of this season and so far nothing much stands out. I'm kinda glad that the cheerleaders are gone -- I couldn't tell them apart from the beauty pageant chicks. And I can't tell Miss NY from Miss Cali. Is there really only one look that is valued in the US anymore??? Now do you understand why I live really really far away?
Back to the Race. We always love it when they do stuff in Asia and watching people in China is hilarious. My daughter watched the contestants eating the fish eyes in Beijing and could not figure out why that was a challenge. 'I'd do it in a second," she said. What can I say, we have a diverse diet!
Early faves: the single moms, the coalminer and his wife, and the dad and daughter team. Already bored by junkies-turned models, one-legged girl and steroid boy, and pageant girls. But ya just know when any of them come in last it'll magically be a non-elimination round!

The fish eyes? That just seemed like all kinds of wrong even though I'm the type of person that will try any food once. I love this show! It's one of my favorites and I didn't dis it this year like I've done with Survivor. I like the father/daughter team, the one legged girl team, and the team that got kicked off last week. The black women are bugging me - they complain about everything. But it's a little early in the show to know which ones will be my solid favorites. Yeah, the cheerleaders and beauty pageant ladies are sort of irritating too. I think my favorite part about the show is how it embraces the details of different cultures and works them into each episode.

Here I thought missy with artificial leg was going to be an inspiration, OHHHH PLEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZ....If she whines ONE more time, cryes that she wants to quit, I'm gonna SCREAM......I can see why she's using that particular handicap as a tool to get ahead of some of the legs of the race, oh hell yeah, I would too....They all do it to some extent....females, genre's, etc.....but please...her profile says marathons and other said "tough" attributes are attributed to her background, should of added a chunck of cheese with it all for all the whhhhiiinnnnniiiing she's doing....I like the "Southern" folks....but I don't see them getting too far, physical strength is a must, and she'd done sprained an ankle....Good guys never win....ok....well, sometimes they do, but not on national TV.....

;D Oh My Nancy, tell us what you really think!
Does anyone else think the "boyfriend" of the one-legged girl is a real jerk? I mean she has one leg and he always yells at her to hurry up! ;D Cracks me up. Marathons my foot. Oops, didn't mean to type that out loud.
The other two that are hysterical are the dating couple, no idea of their names but she always says things like, "if this relationship is going to work, you had better learn not to talk to me like THAT!" Yet she is always yelling at him! So reminds me of someone I know. No, not you, don't worry.
Anyway, for Aussiefan, I thought I'd mention that CBS's website features blogs by former Amazing Race contestants, including her favoutites, BJ and Tyler. They watch the current episodes and comment. BJ wrote this:
10/2/06 5:48 am If this episode taught us one thing, it's that it not who gets on the bus first - it's who gets on the RIGHT bus.
But there were other lessons to be learned. David & Mary taught us to keep your fanny pack on your fanny. Erwin & Godwin taught us that beauty sells more flowers than muscles. Tom & Terry taught us that although it might feel right to wrap your arms around a Vietnamese boy on a moped, Phil will get jealous. Lyn & Karlyn taught us, once again, that they sure do love to compare the Race to childbirth. Rob & Kimberly taught us nothing. And Dustin & Kandice taught us that they will not be upset if neither of them wins Miss Congeniality. They're going for the million dollar crown.
Speaking of which, Terry...Tom, whatever your name is, don't give Kandice the "I really thought we were friends" speech. We all heard you say on the first episode that you didn't come on the Race to make friends, so don't expect other racers to put your friendship before the last seats on a flight. I consider Lake my friend, but if we were racing a 100-yard dash tomorrow for 100 grand, I wouldn't be surprised if he threw an elbow my way. (Am I right, Yolanda?) Besides, those girls are pageant queens. You KNOW they are capable of anything.
In closing, I think the Roadblock should have been called, "Who's ready to peddle petals on pedals?"
I miss BJ and Tyler.

I really wish TAR hadn't switched time slots this season. Being on on Sunday nights here is a nightmare - they're always delayed due to football games. I have to switch over at 9:00 to tape Desperate Housewives and never find out which team gets eliminated! I checked online today to see who got eliminated last Sunday.

Oh, it was too beautiful watching Peter get booted. I think Phil didn't like himone bit. The best thing was the exit interview when Sarah pretty much said she knows now that this is not the guy for her. Thank god. I could not have watched him tell her to climb another wall, mountain, ladder again.
Love those Chui boys. They so rock.

this week was so-so. the three teams that irritate the most came in first, which is unnerving. Does it seem to anyone else that every season features a Rob & Kimberly pairing? Or do they just bug me so much that it's affecting my memory?

I saw where one of the TAR couples from a season or two ago had a baby. I'm trying to remember their names....her name is Victoria. His? I can't remember at the moment, but he's the biggest jackass I've ever seen on TV.

I can't remember at the moment, but he's the biggest jackass I've ever seen on TV. good ol John and Victoria -- possibly the most awful couple I have ever seen. It was like witnessing a crime every week --very stressful. soooo, too bad about this week's slowpokes, the ol Kentucky kids. They never had a chance but were fun to watch. The Chos are making me nuts. They need to stop waiting around for their alliance members and just get to the mat first. my fave bit -- watching the four Awfuls eat that horrible Fear Factor stuff and still not come in first ;D

You might not believe this, or I should say, I DON'T BELIEVE this but Asia is kind of ahead of everyone --and I'm not talking about time zones! Asia now has its own version of The Amazing Race, telecast Thursday evenings on AXN. Anyone in the region who has cable/satellite access to AXN should watch --it's quite fun. Same music, same mat at the Pit Stops, everything but Phil. I have to admit, I miss Phil, but it is kinda cool to see people from around the region competing. So far they all seem to be either "models" or gym rats, but there is just something about this show that I love... and now it won't seem so long til Sunday! I get to watch 2 Races each week!

Hello fellow TAR fans, We finally got the first episode in Oz last Thursday. I quite enjoyed it but don't have a fave team yet. I do have a team which I already hate and hoped they would lose the first week but unfortunately they didn't. That is the Paolo family. They just irritate me something shocking Not surprised the Black family dropped out first with 2 little boys, there was no way they were gonna keep up for long. I can also see a couple of others dropping out early, don't remember names but the ones with the older parent (father) who can't keep up, he will weigh them down. The pink ladies annoy me as they never shut up and just scream and talk all over each other all the time. Geez, I've only watched one episode and I have lots to say don't I? Will check back in after next Thursdays ep. seeya, Helen.

Hey Helen, I wonder why Oz is showing TAR Family Edition now as opposed to teh same series we are seeing. I am trying to remember the particpants in the one u r seeing and as soon as u mentioned the Paolos it all came back! They are truly awful! I remember being really disappointed in the Family Edition season -- they never leave the Americas, as I recall. Not cool --maybe it had something to do with the kids on the race? Keep posting after each episode and I'll try to remember who I found most irritating! (Not that anyone can top the Paolos, but keep your eyes peeled for the horrible mother from Florida with her two kids. They say they're Christian, but.....)

Okay, just saw this week's TAR and what can I say, but this must be the first season I am not pulling for someone to win. Just PLEASE NOT ROB & KIMBERLY. Honest to God, the Barbies and Addicts are both better than that!

I missed it again this week - who got kicked off? Another football game ran over, so I missed TAR - Desperate Housewives won over again.
I'm rooting for the Cho brothers.

Amy, I've been rooting for the Cho brothers too. But they were the last to arrive. We'll have to pick a second-favorite team to cheer for.

Hey all, I am so pi**ed off that we in Australia aren't getting the same TAR season as you guys, I don't have anyone to chat to about how much I hate the Paolo family. Damn, they nearly got kicked off this week but not quite, I gotta put up with them for at least one more week. Helen.
