I really liked what I saw. I missed the first half hour , forgetting it was on. I want to support it because I think it will inspire a lot of young Hispanic girls to follow their dreams even when it seems no one else supports you. To be true to yourself, and all Young girls of all races can appreciate that. I hope it picks up viewers who will stay with it long enough for the characters to develop diggin it Jilly

This is one of my favorite new shows of the 2006 Fall TV season. A great show that I hope lots of young people are watching!

Tonights episode was really fun and cool to watch. Betty got her boss in hot water and when her sister tells her to lie to her boss she does but then owns up to her mistake and ends up saving her own but and the bosses too. Honesty is the best policy. I love the message Betty lives..integrity. Cool Stuff. There was a strange twist I didn't get at the end, it looks like Betty's bosses Father the CEO of the Mag she works at has an underhanded evil side?? He preaches honesty so it was a shock . I know that this may not make sense unless you saw it. It is a good family show in my book. Good lessons. I still dig it!!!

For those that don't watch recently Selma Hayek has been on the show and for a while she played Betty's boss. Selma played a wonderfully wicked, love to hate character that was just plain ol' rotten. Dang she was good!! The show is really getting good and Betty and her boss Daniel have such an unusual relationship. It may turn to love.???That would rock!!

I am still watching this one. This show is one of my favorites. It is so messy! But in a really good sort of way. I love how all the characters are so flawed...yet compelling to watch. Even Betty has her issues. And there are so many meanies on this one--yet each one of the meanies have something that still makes you feel for them. This show is just so different from most of the other ones on TV, that it is a must TiVo for me every week.

Betty has her" issues" is so true. I watch this but always forget to post. Last night was so sweet. I loved the family down in Mexico trying to get the father Ignacio his Visa to come back home and now that it was denied I can't imagine the show without him?? whenever he calls the girls Mija I get all choked up. My dad called me that and noone has since he died in 00'. Gosh I miss him. I also loved the struggles Alex/Alexis is having with her transgender storyline.Who would have thunk it would affect so many people? My hope is that every season Betty matures and refines her look and style more and more and ends up with Daniel. They are growing up together it seems. It would be cool. Just love this show..

Jillywilly
From what I have read online. Our "UGLY BETTY" is based on the Colombian telenovela (soap opera) "YO SOY BETTY LA FEA" and on that series she did become involved romantically with her boss, got a makeover and became attractive.
I think I read that a lot of the fans thought the show lost its special charm once she became involved with her boss and all pretty.
So I am not sure if ABC is planning on following that plot line or not. They have changed some of the characters and back story to make it work for American audiences already.

Oh I agree that if they ended upchanging her now the dynamic would be lost. It would be like hooking up dave and mattie and it would be the kiss of death. I merely meant the series finale. Like seeing her take a summer hiatus and then coming back with no braces, contacts instead of glasses, and clothes that match and a modern pretty hairdue and then realizing that they are one anothers soul mate. That would be a sweet final ending for the show. I hate seeing shows end and leaving it undone. Remember Beauty and the Beast? They never ended that right , killing Katherine and giving Vincent another true love?? CRAP!! I still have never forgiven CBS for that nightmare..... :-(

Now Jilly....you should know better than to mention the concept of Moonlighting being ruined by hooking up David and Maddie. ( www.davidandmaddie.com/show.htm ) I am the resident Moonlighting (ML) expert here...and have invested way more time than should be legally allowd to dispelling that misconception. The issues on ML that caused the demise of the show were nearly all backstage and had more to do with a 1) the Writer's Strike of 1988, 2) a very pregnant lead actress who was carrying twins and restricted to bed rest, 3) an up-and-coming movie star lead actor who had a less and less flexible schedule because he was doing films, 4) disagreements between the Exec Producer/Creator and the network 5) talented writers being hired away to other projects. Anyway, hopefully Ugly Betty can maintain its creative edge for a few seasons at least.

Oh Cindy I'm not worthy I stand corrected. I thought they just didn't like each other too? Bruce and Sybil that is. In anycase it was sad to see it go, it was a family fav in our house back in the day. That won't be the case with America Ferrera I hear the whole cast adores her. She isn't jaded by Hollywood yet. I hope that never happens to her, she is a good kid. Good show too. Jilly

Well the squabbling between the cast on ML didn't help. But ultimately it wasn't the main reason. It just exacerbated the situation.
Did you see America on David Letterman Monday night? She was charming and lovely and even Dave was nice to her.

I still have never forgiven CBS for that nightmare..... :-( Jill I LOVED BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and you are SOOO RIGHT...THAT WAS JUST PLAIN WRONG! I'm glad to see that "Vincent" has been able to maintain a fairly good career after that show. In other news - they cancelled Veronica Mars. I never saw that many episodes, but the few I did see I thought were pretty good. I don't know if they wrapped it up. I thought they did a very nice job of wrapping up Gilmore Girls Tuesday night.

That season finale had more twists than a mountain road. Boy! Is anyone really "OK" or "safe" after that??
Glad to see you enjoyed it Jilly.... I was on the edge of my seat most of the hour.
