Anyone else watching??? (Sundays, NBC, 8 pm) I'll confess - I'm hooked in to this crazy audition process - tonight they narrowed it down to the 12 who will go through the rest of the show -- some very talented folk there! Singing/dancing/acting - reality show - all in one

I have been watching this show too. I love musicals. I saw the movies Grease, and Grease II. I also saw the stage musical of Grease with Sheena Easton, Adrian Zmed and Donny Most. I like these kinds of shows as well. I hope we get to vote in Canada when the voting starts. I'll also confess to watching American Idol too.

I guess this is like a show we had here - finding a lead for the Sound of Music?

Isn't it breaking one of the commandments or something to have a guy try to take and make famous what My Johnny Travolta did so perfectly? ?? Theres only one Danny for me....sorry.

They are trying to find Danny & Sandy for the new Broadway production of Grease. Jilly, actually the movie is not as faithful to the play as it could be. I think Adrian Zmed was the Danny I saw in Memphis, Sally Struthers was playing the teacher...and who was the DJ...can't remember right now. A lot of the songs from the play are used in background ways in the film...for example many would gasp to hear that in the play Sandy DOES NOT go to the dance. She listens to it on the radio (which it is on instead of tv) at home. In other news, Jon Secada (Sunday's guest judge) was in Trumann, AR, on Tuesday to tour the Baldwin Piano manufacturing facility.

You're right Cheza, I am biased in my opinion because I am such a Travolta fan. I can't be objective. Sorry :-)

The first time I saw Max I thought he gave a good performance but I didn’t see him as Danny. Each week he was winning me over. Tonight he has won me over. I can now see him as Danny. He had a great performance tonight.
I tried to vote over the phone but it is always busy. I tried to vote on-line at NBC but the computer stops working and say not responding. I tried to leave a comment and the computer stops responding there too. Not sure if it is because I am from Canada or it is super busy. I am sure the first time you could vote, my vote went through.

The 3 guys and 3 girls that are left are all good. I don't know who will get chosen but I am thinking maybe Max and Ashely.

Congratulations to Max and Laura the new Danny and Sandy on Broadway. I would like to go to New York to see Grease on Broadway.

I saw an article, I think on MSN, that said the show goes into previews in late July and opens August 19. I'm interested to see what the cast album will contain - the article noted the show will include songs from the play AND the film. "Hopelessly Devoted To You" must be one of those...because it was not in the original play...neither was "Sandy" - the one Danny sings at the drive-in in the film...so here's hoping we get a cast album! I wanted Austin to win Danny instead, but did you notice they did not have a Doody in the cast? I think maybe they were expecting the public to choose Austin and then maybe they were going to offer the role of Doody to Max...or maybe they were keeping it open for whichever guy didn't win...it's interesting...I think Austin could be Doody (Frenchie's boyfriend)!!!

Austin was good too. That would be a good idea to offer him the role of Doody then he could still be in the show. You never know they just might do that.
Talking about musicals, Ashely Parker Angel who you may remember was in the group O-Town is now playing Link Larkin in the Broadway musical Hairspray. I liked the movie so I would like to see that musical on Broadway too.

Zac Ephron (sp?) from High School Musical plays Link in the movie version that's coming out later this year. Some new girl is Tracy, but man, she really reminds me of Ricki Lake in the original film. John Travolta as Edna is going to be a HOOT, as will Queen Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle. Michelle Pfeiffer is playing the Von Tussle girl's mom and Christopher Walken is playing Tracy's dad!!!

It will be interesting to see if ithe new film is as good as the original version. I agree, seeing John Travolta as a lady is going to be funny.

The Scientologists were none too pleased about that from what I've heard. I just hope he's as funny as Harvey Fierstein was on the Broadway recording...it's a hoot. I think Amanda Bynes is Penny...that concerns me because she really has to be a belter and I don't know if she can sing or not. Brittany Snow is Amber (?) Von Tussle...I think that's right.

Watched the last of the open auditions this weekend - that was funny! ;D ;D
