Okay, there is no connection at all....
except the last time I was this insane over a guy I didn't know....well it was Shaun Cassidy! I know I am showing my age, but anyone who looks at this post and knows the name Shaun Cassidy, must be in the same age bracket as me.
Marty brings back that feeling of pre-teen excitement in me. I look at pictures of him and feel myself melting. I hear his voice and just want to crawl into the speaker.
If he was on the cover of Tiger Beat I would probably buy a copy and pretend I had a preteen who wanted it.
(I am blushing as I write this, because I feel so .....I don't know the word....smitten? )
Anyone else feel like this? Is anyone else having flashbacks of their youth?

:(LMAO! Yes, I too remember Shaun Cassidy. But he was more of my sister's type. I have been around the block, oh, a few times and what appears to be happening to me is that I'm becoming a dirty old lady. I'm getting older, but I can still appreciate a fine specimen of a young man ;D Yes, I have the school girl thing going on. It's nice to now I'm still alive. Since I do have a teenage daughter (who has her mommy's taste ), I am able to use her as the excuse to my husband for having such an interest in MC and Lovehammers. But on a more serious note, it really is mostly about the music

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw the Shaun Cassidy thing and I couldn't believe it! I mentioned him in my Newbie intro! I was 8 when I went to a concert of his!!!!!! But......... I have a greater appreciation of Marty's music than I did Shaun's! I absolutely can't wait to see the Lovehammer's in Chicago----this next month is going to crawl! Rox (hotrox)

Well I certainly love the Lovehammers and Marty's voice much more than Shaun's. I was about 11 when he was popular and "Hey Deanie" ;D seemed pretty cool back then, but thank heavens my musical taste has evolved. Smitten, my crush is out in the open, hard for me to hide all my time spent at the computer but my husband is very patient with me....although he calls me the Internet stalker. I am spending more time than ever reading every item I can....even have Google Alerts. Hotrox - I can only hope that INXS bring the Lovehammers to England. I will be first in line to get tickets and oh what a happy day that will be.

Smitten - I can really understand that. I don't know if my husband truly understands the extent of my crush, he just knows it exists. I don't really think he would enjoy knowing where some of my thoughts go. I watch Marty move those hands of his and .........I need to go have cold shower.

I was more of a Rick Springfield and John Stamos girl. If our Marty graces the cover of any magazine I will buy it!

Well I was about 5 when Shaun Cassidy was on the Hardy Boys (it was him, right?) and I LOVED him and my mom said he was a hairy ape and I would get so mad! So I started as a fan girlie quite young. I had crushes on um... the Fonz, and Potsie, and Gilligan (yes, from the Island LOL), and John Stamos (that one is still a gooder, man has that guy aged well!) and Scott Baio (I remember sitting in my room staring at that poster and crying b/c I wanted to meet him so bad... I think I was 8)... and Rob Lowe oh that was a big crush... well the list goes on and on... LOL

Wow...I had a Shaun Cassidy album with lipstick all over the cover from me kissing it...and there was that Hardy Boys episode where his girlfriend gets killed and it's all done in flashbacks...I would cry and my two older brothers still give me crap about that, but i was just a kid. The first real crush that made me was Rick Springfield. Back when he was Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.

Ha...thanks…I just had a rush of great memories…posters covered every inch of my bedroom walls. Andy, Shaun, Rick, Duran Duran…I had them all. I also seem to remember a strange fascination with Koala Bears and lipsmackers as well…too funny.

Shaun Cassidy was actually the first crush I had on a singer and my first concert I ever went to. ;)I absolutely adored him! Then came Tommy Shaw of Styx, the Nelson Twins, Phil Collen of Def Leppard etc. and now Marty! I have a 'thing' for blondes the most.

Ummm...I'm actually not really sure who Shaun Cassidy is (I'm a young'un with only 22 years under my belt) , but do understand the feelings you all are talking about. When I was little I really dug James Spader, Judd Nelson, and Rob Lowe from the Brat Pack and when I got older I was into Kurt Cobain and Johnny Depp (not 21 Jumpstreet Depp, Edward Scissorhands Depp). I never really gave up my Depp interest (still have a few posters of him on my wall), but other than that the "hot guys" have just sorta floated in and out of my field of interest...then there was Marty. I haven't been this excited about a rocker and his band since Kurt Cobain/Nirvana...the fact alone that I know all the members of Lovehammers by name speaks volumes for me (I only knew Kurt and David Grohl in Nirvana). I'm literally twitching with excite at the prospect of seeing him at the INXS concert and am actually saving money to buy some more of the bands CDs and stuff.

Abgirl - I actually screamed, "OH MY GOD!" when you said Tommy Shaw. I was obsessed with Styx as a Teenager. They were the first concert that I went to (without my mom - she took me to see the Beach Boys) and I still have a soft spot for them. I guess I have a thing for blondes too!

All of these memories, too weird!!! Styx was my first concert too (in my High School gym, believe it or not). And I'm totally with tookskye with not feeling like this since Nirvana. It's such a great feeling Lovehammers, can't get the music out of my mind...

Tommy Shaw is still so adorable to this day! On the 21st of this month my husband and I are going to see Styx play at a small venue where I'm hoping I can finally meet the man/band after all of these years! Oh boy will I be nervous. Blondes rules!

I don't think Marty actually knows the true effect he has on us! I never thought that at age 36 I'd feel this way again! Not to mention feeling this way when I have a husband, two kids........................ Marty---if you only knew!!!!!!!!!! I told my hubby that I wasn't the only one! Thanks to this site, I know that now!

Hotrox:
I totally agree with you. I am a 33 year old mother of 3 who before Rockstar was listening to County Music! After seeing Marty doing Mr. Brightside I was totally hooked, haven't listened to country since. He has made me feel young again having an obsession with someone and feeling so passionately about someone who you will never meet . It's crazy but it feels good. I have realized that I am still young and not to that country music stage of my life yet. I hope never to return there. I am enjoying life here much more!

I'd sure like to hear if there's anyone else out there that has an object of obsession that predates these...or am I really all alone? No matter--it's fantastic to feel that way again!!!

Wow!! What a great subject!! Yes I too had Shaun Cassidy on my walls along with Leif Garrett (aHHHHHHHHHHH) and Scott Baio (and Abba but it's not really the same is it haha). In my teens though I went on to David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen and know I would have to say that Marty is my "David Bowie" I'm 35 with two kids and my husband knows I liked Marty on Rockstar, knows I've downloaded his songs etc but I don't think he would understand the need to come here each day and share thoughts about Marty, maybe this addiction will wane once I finally receive my MOMM cd! I am going crazy waiting for it! Keep up the "squeeing" girls
