I did that for about three and a half years...plus a little...at a small town paper. The pay isn't great and the hours are long. I enjoyed the writing, but I had no time for a life. |

I like newspapers...I considered print journalism as a career for a time. I did that for about three and a half years...plus a little...at a small town paper. The pay isn't great and the hours are long. I enjoyed the writing, but I had no time for a life. Well, you don't exactly have a life as my set career path now...but journalism is not how I want to use my skills as a writer. |

That was the case with me. Journalism wasn't what I want to do as a writer. I figured that out pretty quickly once I was promoted to News Director and responsible for the "hard news" stories...wrecks, fires, embezzlement, etc. I liked writing feature stories...human interest stuff..and historical kind pieces...but not the news, news.
