Thank you. Nirvana's a good one to quote, unlike some bands, which are incredibly hard.

*LMAO* Looks like we're all a little stumped as to how to start the sequel to the story over in the creativity vault.

I've just had this one and a line from Victor Hugo's Les Miserables
I'm set to begin Dickens with the sophomores sometime next week...and I fear with this crew it will be like pulling wisdom teeth...or cutting them out...whichever you prefer. Trying to read a 300-some-odd page novel in class with them...*GAH*...I don't have enough copies to let them take it home to read.
We're finishing Antigone tomorrow. Which reminds me I need to look up the gods of the Underworld.

One of the kids challenged something in the text and I think he could be right, but it's been so long since I studied mythology...I'm not 100 percent sure.

A Tale of Two Cities...I love it, but I know how short their attention span is...they can't even sit still for 45 minutes. Well, our text mentions Persephone earlier in it as the Queen of the Underworld. However, when the messenger is speaking toward the end of the rights performed for Polyneices' body...he says they said a prayer to Hecate and Pluto...One of my kids called on that and said Pluto is a Roman god.

Pluto is the Roman version of Hades. Some translations use the Roman versions because they're more universally known.

Odd that they would mix the names up like that though...methinks.
*shrugs*
I guess I can just point that out to the other classes tomorrow - because naturally this kid was in my last class of the day...sometimes they are half-way engaged.

*amazing how different translations are...but mine also says "we prayed to Hecate and Pluto that they would be merciful..."* Its all at the discretion of the translator. Some strive for literal translation, while others try to capture the gist of the text.

Well, I know this much...in other places - Ares, Athena, Pesephone, Dionysus, Demeter, Zeus, et. al. are mentioned in the work.
