Fast forward to the Metro presale - I got extra tickets, & because of that...met so many fabulous people in Chicago! Mishelle, Julie, Cindy, Penny, Nikki, Tammy...honestly, new friends for life, I'm sure!
Well the night couldn't have happened more perfectly...you all did such a great job of recapping so I'm sure I'll repeat some in here. Cindy & her hubby Amiel were already in line when Mishelle & I got there...Amiel waited in line while the ladies had a drink! Thanks!!
When we all got inside, I smuggled the camera down my pants - lol! no way was I going to miss an opportunity to take pics, even if it was after the concert! Mishelle & I were DETERMINED to get to whereever the band was. We just wanted to hang out with them, talk to them...umm hmm. All the bands were absolutely fantastic...and we were right down in front, everyone in their places & everyone watching out for each other. I met Marty's cousin - & promised her I'd get her upfront to see her cousin! & she did...that was so great! Beautiful family I'll tell ya. When Dino threw out his guitar pics in the beginning, Marty's cousin caught one & gave it to me...she said "I can get another one!" sooo nice! So I took tons of pics, as you all have seen or will see. The band sounded AMAZING, Marty came out in the audience, he really connected with the entire audience - the floor, the balcony, everywhere. They filmed for the video for Trees, & we even did a second taping - can't WAIT to see that!! Marty of course climbed the side of the stage rafters, or whatever they're called...& hung upside down. My camera was acting up at that moment so my pics didn't come out as clear as others. I can remember every song but so glad the set list has been posted. They just sounded UNbelievable. Definitely a hard act for INXS to follow! At the end...Marty smashed a guitar again...& the pieces went flying. Well, some very overzealous gentleman (uh uh) went to battle for my piece & would NOT let go...I was hanging on to dear life & was about to give up when my head was thrown back & the jaggedy piece was across my neck...when security had to step in. CRAZY!! Marty's cousin even said she saw the whole thing from the balcony. Needless to say, 'I' got the guitar piece!
Then came the afterparty...Mishelle ROCKS - she secured our VIP passes upstairs! When we saw the throngs of people around Marty...I almost felt sorry for him. He really just wanted a beer & to hang out, but I know he was really enjoying it all. I waited for a bit...but then finally said, OK it's time! and here's those pics...
I hugged him & kissed him twice, he's sooo beautiful in person. I listened to him talk to everyone & was thinking about what he had written in the LH site about wanting to connect with a few people vs. say something small to a lot - & wondered what he was thinking. So we started talking, and he REMEMBERED me from L.A. & the show! (I'm sure it was my Marty shirt, but whatevah it takes! lol) & I asked him to sign the back...and you can see that below.
I'll tell you I about fainted when I heard what he wrote!!!
I hugged him & kissed him again...and then ran to my friends.
I told them to get back over to Marty! (Penny!) So Mishelle met Marty & he told her she had beautiful eyes! (she does) & that was so awesome. I then went back to Marty again with my guitar piece, and had him sign that. see below!
A bit later, after meeting members of all the other bands - all so nice! - we got to hang out with Dino & Bobby upstairs, got some more pics...they are a riot!
And then saw Billy for the second time downstairs outside the SmartBar - he was so cute, when he saw my Marty shirt he started talking to Mishelle & I, I showed him the guitar piece & the back of my shirt & we told him we weren't stalkers! lol & he laughed & said "hey you're not gonna go eBay all this stuff on us are you???" HECK NO! I said.
So much fun, honestly one of the BEST nights of my life! I've had breakfast with Brandon Boyd in Incubus (a radio contest), I've had champagne with Simon LeBon & Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran...but this so far exceeds any of those highlights that I am still on cloud nine!
So you can see why this took me so long...sorry so wordy but I also did it for me, so I could have every moment I can remember captured forever! Hope you all enjoy the pictures...& everyone I met, you are all so great, so friendly & I just want to thank you for making my experience what it was!!
