Ahh! I having trouble with my avatar. Can anyone recommend a website where you can convert your own pictures into avatars? I found one but it doesn't seem to be working.

Thanks What kind of problems are you having with it? Can you be more specific? Have you tried using a photo editing software? Usually you can take a photo, crop it to the right size, and save as a jpg or gif file. |

Oh I'm sorry I wasn't very specific was I? I was using a photo editing internet site and the avatar from this site worked for a few hours and then disabled.
If I was to do what you said above "Have you tried using a photo editing software? Usually you can take a photo, crop it to the right size, and save as a jpg or gif file." I have done this to multiple pictures but I don't know how to insert the photo into the place that the code goes other than copying and pasting which doesn't seem to work.
Can you tell me how to insert these pictures?

Cjuba, if you are using Photobucket, copy the "direct link" under the picture that you want to use as your avatar. Then paste that link in your profile where you see avatars. (in the modify profile after you click on profile from the main page).

It sounds like you don't have the other display options set in your album settings. Click on "Account Options" on the top right-hand side of the screen. Then scroll down to the "Album Settings" section. Check the display options that you want. For avatars, you need "Display Direct Link" checked, and to post to the board, you need "Display IMG" checked. Click on Save and go back to your album. The direct link should display now. Press Ctrl+C to copy the url and paste it into the avatar field in your profile. If you're still having problems (i.e. the direct url isn't showing), you may need to contact Photobucket for help. But, you can take of the ![]() tags from the front and back of the IMG code and paste that into the url field for your avatar. If you still need further help, post the code from your photobucket here, and I can fix it for you.  |

Can someone help me with this... I have followed the detailed instructions in both the "frequently asked questions..." column as well as the instructions provided by Amy specifically and it still is not working. Up until now I have used an avatar from the website but the photobucket account has expired so I thought I would use one of my personal pics instead... I am frustrated  because I do this sort of thing all day long at work and it is usually pretty simple...  I cannot figure out why it isn't working??? |

YAY, thanks for helping me RF!!!  Okay, so after my old avatar quit working from the site... I went to photobucket and set up my account. I uploaded my own pics of Marty and stuff and saved them. Then I took the URL (per the instructions listed here) and pasted it in the avatar field under my profile settings update page and then I saved.... nothing happened? The instructions said to paste the first URL listed, which I did and give it the size 100 X 100... is this correct? My profile looks so lonely without a picture of Mr. Casey  |

Hmm, okay. Are you using the "direct link" URL which is the second one under each picture in your photobucket?
